    I really like that map sequence you added where you show the state of charge leaving and arriving and the recap at the end. I have a Rivian and I'll be overlanding soon. I'm learning a lot from watching your vids. I look forward to your posts. Keep it up!

    Really love the Rivian but I can't stop thinking how much better it would look with normal headlights.

    Great video, fellow OC resident here. Greeat map with the Rivy state of charge. I have spent a lot of time in this area and its great as long as you don't mind desert pin stripes cutting through your clearcoat! That creosote bush is tough and woody.
    Side note about this trail. Unlike mentioned in the video, The Mojave Trail, prior to its exclusive by the Mojave Indians bounding from spring to spring to trade with Indians and newcomers in the San Bernadino valley, was actually used mostly as a transport trail for the gold discoveries and ensuing Apache wars in Arizona, and later livestock for ranching in AZ, rather than as an immigration route to California...Arizona was still a territory before the first railroads were built and this trail was abandoned, AZ being very undeveloped compared to California at this time. The Mojaves often attacked whites on the trail including the famous explorer Jedediah Smith until the government established Fort Mojave circa 1860, at which point it became safer to cross for U.S. mail and wagon supply trains. After the railroads were built to California via Kelso in the 1880s the trail was pretty much abandoned and forgotten.

    I love these videos you put out and I hope you keep it up. I’ve watched some of them multiple times and have been configuring my R1T very similarly due to your recs (just installed our iKamper mini 3.0 yesterday). Curious where and how you store your iKamper when not in use (ground? hoist system? With or without the crossbars?). Keep the videos coming. They’re relaxing, entertaining, and informative to watch!

    • @ChargeOverland
      @ChargeOverland  Před rokem

      Thanks Curtis! I keep the iKamper on the truck full time - would love to have a hoist system at some point though! If I did need to take it off the truck right now I would probably remove it with the crossbars and just set everything on the floor of my garage👍🏻

    Great video! just subscribed. Can you please add the time it takes you to charge when you mentioned charging…. Something along the lines of …. I got to the charging station when i was at xxx percent and we waited xxx minutes to charge to xxx percent. Helps me understand if the Rivian is worth it or stick to a Taco… thanks

    • @ChargeOverland
      @ChargeOverland  Před rokem

      Thanks and welcome! I can definitely start including that in future videos👍🏻 There is some variability depending on speed of the charger and outside temp but at least could give a rough idea of how long it takes

    When you're overlanding do you air down your tires? If so, to what PSI? Do you switch to off road drive mode or leave it in all purpose. I'm planning a west to east overlanding trip across the Mojave Preserve for this October, about 173 miles and planning on needing to average 1.4 mi/kwh to make the trip. I've noticed in my Rivian with the iKamper over the bed, tires aired down to 32 PSI and in off road mode I'm usually about 1.2-1.5 mi/kwh. If you want to make another trip out to Mojave this October you're welcome to join.

    • @ChargeOverland
      @ChargeOverland  Před rokem +1

      I generally air down to around 32 if I’m off-road but there is for sure an efficiency hit so if you’re trying to maximize range I’d only air down when you really need the extra traction. Also I normally stay in all purpose for most driving👍🏻 Sounds like a fun trip!

    Awesome trip🙌!! What month was this when you went? You got some nice weather! I'm going to Mojave Road next weekend, March 16th.. the weather right now is insane with all the snowstorms. I just hope everything clears up by the time I head down.

      @ChargeOverland I sure hope so🙏. Soda Lake is closed according to the NP website. we won't be able to cross the lake bed 😭. One of the main trails I wanted to take my brothers on for their first Mojave expedition .. praying to weather God to calm down lol 😆

      So far so good! Only a few minor software things that have been easily fixed with a soft reset - also my tonneau cover isn’t working but that seems to be a common problem unfortunately

    Can you still access your spare with that RTT?

  • @jamessink3736
    @jamessink3736 Před rokem

    It looks like you had to do about an hour of backtracking to get to Fenner then back to the park. Do you think you could have managed the route leaving Barstow at 90+% charge and skipping Fenner?

    • @ChargeOverland
      @ChargeOverland  Před rokem +1

      Looking back now - yes I probably could have made it. Still working on getting some good numbers for my efficiency when off-road so I can plan more accurately. I’ve generally been overly conservative on range planning just to avoid any issues👍🏻

    • @jamessink3736
      @jamessink3736 Před rokem

      @@ChargeOverland I’m sure I would have made the same decision. Running out of juice in a 7000lbs truck on a dirt trail in the middle of nowhere isn’t something I want to experience. I’m going to need a lot of miles off road before I’m confident in my range projections. There are just so many variables and it’s not like someone can bring you gas.

    where did you get that portable fire pit?

    • @AWheeler45
      @AWheeler45 Před rokem +1

      Appears to be the Fireside outdoor Pop up Fire Pit.
      They have a website and an Amazon store
      If you go for that one, get the full size 24”, the smaller one doesn’t fit standard length firewood logs

    • @ChargeOverland
