    After I watched Beauty and the Beast the first time I rewatched it, and I gotta say the Beast just throwing himself against that pack of wolves was badass. Cause you gotta remember the Beast was originally a man. And even though he behaves like an animal, I think that the act of saving Belle was the first real bit of humanity we see in him. So I'm willing to believe he would've jumped into that pack of wolves to save Belle even if he was a man. And that takes balls.

    Out of all of these I think Mulan probably was the bravest. Not only did she go to war, where she could die but she risked being found out as a woman, where she could also die. She stopped trying to be what she wasn't (it's clear that the match maker wasn't impressed with her) and did what she felt was right. To save her father and to out-do herself. (She's my fav Disney heroine, if you haven't guessed).

      Mulan saved an entire COUNTRY, of billions of people she didn't know, or have any emotional attachment to, AFTER almost being executed because of her gender, and dismissed by EVERYONE, SELFLESSLY, not because she had anything left to prove. If that's not brave, I don't know what is.

      Mulan is female empowerment in the best sense of the word. Don‘t care about what society sets against you, just do what you can do, what you can change and what you think is right. But if you want to change the world, you‘re gonna have to change and better yourself first.

    • @itzalatinprincess
      @itzalatinprincess Před 9 lety +12

      No, of course not. However, it's hard to say whether or not Hercules did it out of bravery. Hades purposefully left out that he would be dead before he even reached her until he had already jumped. Maybe Hercules thought that he could save her and then get out himself before they were both trapped. You could argue that he had heard Hades afterwards but, at that point, he had already dived in. He must of known at that point that he couldn't save her then.
      As for Mulan, she was continually brave throughout the whole movie. She left her home, impersonated an officer, and stayed in the military even after Shane gave her a chance to leave. Plus, she came back to warn everyone of the Huns even after Shane almost killed her. She knew the consequences of everything, but she still went ahead and helped save the emperor, expecting nothing in return. It could have gone the other way, she could have been publicly killed for her acts instead of rewarded and excused.

    I really didn't expect Hercules or Beast to be here. Don't get me wrong, they both did something selfless and noble, I definitely don't deny that. But I think being brave is truly overcoming fear, which is why I would build these kinds of lists about characters that really outdid themselves. Like Mulan, Gurgi and Quasimodo: they would be my top 3 from this video. Outside this list: Baloo fightning Shere Khan(Jungle Book), Milo going after Rourke(Atlantis: The Lost Empire), Koda arriving to help Kenai(Brother Bear), Bolt saving Penny from the fire(Bolt), Anna sacrificing herself for Elsa(Frozen) etc. And if Pixar counts: Merida stopping the lords fightning and fixing her own mistakes, and Elinor attacking Mor'du to protect Merida(Brave). But this is just my opinion. Still, good video.
    P.S. Yeah, I know. Frozen came way after this video of yours.

      No offence, but I think the word stupid is more suited for Belle than brave. True, sacrificing herself for her father was selfless and something she did for love. But (yeah, this sounds cold) like his father said himself: He had already lived. And it's not like Belle really seemed to understand the consequences: Less than 24h, and she was already going to break her promise. I think the true meaning of brave is overcoming what you fear the most and doing that for selfless reasons, knowing perfectly what's coming for you. Belle only did the second one. I'm not saying that "Belle was just an idiot!", but her act would be lucky to get into top 20 in my books.

    • @PikablueRay
      @PikablueRay Před 10 lety +6

      rase5994 Rebecca Whiting You both are right:) Belle was very brave, when she decided to save her father knowing she may never come back. But also she was stupid, but hey, if she was not, she would never find her such a husband:) As an addition, I agree with Rebecca on this quote: "Everyone is stupid when their loved ones are in danger. You don't stop to weigh up the logical pros and cons of an action when saving a loved one- you just act."

    • @littlelulu3144
      @littlelulu3144 Před 9 lety +4

      Well I disagree because I think that Beast (for example) wouldn't have fought the wolves if it weren't for Belle...he went out of his way, did something brave and saved her, same with Hercules. I just think they are different levels of bravery and heroism :)

    Don’t get me wrong, The Hunchback of Norte Dame is probably my favorite Disney animated movie. But I think the bravest character is Mulan, I mean she went to war for her father’s sake at the expense of herself. She didn’t do it automatically and out of desperation like everyone else on this list; she really thought about it and understood the consequences. So she would be my pick for the bravest Disney character.

      snowytigress Still, a parent is willing to do anything for their child. This father actually dies trying to save his son. Most parents in these movies are just left watching their child being stolen. Well, one could also argue that Aurora's parents did something similar to Mufasa. They allowed their child to be given away to fairies in order for her to be safe. Never once being able to see her grow up and spend time with her. That too takes sacrifice and love.

Especially considering the fact that he held all of this pain from being told he was a monster, I think that him deciding to try to save Esmeralda's life in front of his master is the bravest thing in the world. Not just because he loved Esmeralda, but because he knew that she didn't deserve it. Lovely list!

    I loved that fact someone actually used The Black Cauldron in a list. It was one of Disney's darker themed movies. But one I loved the most. Gurgi was my favorite character and I remember crying grossly as a child when he died. Though when seeing the evil king and his minions melt into the cauldron.. boi I was terrified.. it was something I find still sticks with me for animated movies. Though the boy does look like Arthur front the sword in the stone, and the princess kinda reminds me of the princess from "The princess and the Goblin" another greatly underrated movie. But it wasn't a Disney one. But still powerful in it's own right.
