The singer, Fuki, and harsh vocalist, Shiren, are the founding members of the band. Shiren writes and composes their music where Fuki writes the lyrics. Shiren normally plays guitar but has a form of tendinitis that prevents him from playing for long periods of time or holding a guitar. On live performances, Jill takes over some of his guitar pieces and solos. This was one of those occasions. Shiren is also an original Kami Band member with Babymetal 🤘😊🤘
Unlucky Morpheus have an incredible back catalogue. Always loved the addition of the violin, such a beautiful sound.

my top band Unlucky Morpheus! I adore every single band member! For me, Wagakki Band has the same level but in a completely different style. On my third place there are 10 other Japanese bands 😁 I just like them all! For "Angreifer" an 8.8 and you don't know the real pearls yet.....😏 Great reaction
What is amazing with this band is that they do this level live, and yes with backing tracks, and yes, we do live in an amazing time with amazing music...... And as someone else wrote. Jill with the violin can take over parts from Shiren's guitarplaying when he can't play. Just amazing of them all!

I agree, at first he might be put off from the length of the song because the video is 9 minutes long.
Though it is two songs put together in one video.
It isn't unheard of for musicians to do something like what is in those two songs but it is rare.

What a crazy wild ride of a song! From the 1st moment it started to the end, epic chaos. Don't know what they were saying at the end but they sure had the crowd interested. Glad I took the time to watch. Great song, great score and a great performance.

The male singer（shiren） is their band founder, guitarist and composer. Because his arm was injured at that time, he couldn't play for a long time on the spot. His guitar part was replaced by a violinist（jill).
I hope you can react to them again，and i recommend《opfer》live or《phantom blood》live!🤘🏻👍🏻
I think you would have put a 9 if you could understand the lyrics of the song. Basically, the protagonist has been bitten by a vampire and he's fighting with is inner voices. One voice, sang by Fuki (the main vocalist with cleans) is trying to fight and stay human and the other voice, sang by Shiren (the second vocalist with growling) is trying to push the protagonist to kill a human being, drink his blood and definitely becoming a vampire himself. Great story telling like always with Unlucky Morpheus.

See if you have a couple other live performances from the official site. "Dignity of Spirit" is favorite song from them. "Knight of Sword" is another good live one from the same concert as this. There is a live section on the official site.
I don't claim to know much about Unlucky Morpheus and have only seen a few videos on CZcams and have not seen an entire concert. I went and watched your previous reaction to Unlucky Morpheus and I am always amazed at just how excellent Japanese bands are live.
Thanks for your analysis and explaining the time 'feels'. Both of your reaction and reviews gave Unlucky Morpheus high praise, so maybe do some more?
The vocalist, Fuki is singing in a Shigin style which is intended for Japanese poetry. She has no formal training in singing or in Shigin. Just her natural ability and talent. She also has other side projects and is in an all female super band, Doll$boxx.
Jill, the violinist is a top Tokyo music university graduate and finalist winner in numerous competitions. A violin cover of Eddie Van Halen's 'Eruption' was released a year ago with her violin shredding with a violin can keeping pace to the original.
The drummer, FUMYIA is an outright animal. The human form of Animal!
Shiren, the growler, also has dueling and harmonizing guitar solos with Jinya, the other lead guitarist and with Jill.
Bassist Hiroyuki Ogawa can be heard much clearer in 'Dignity of Spirit' or '断罪は遍く人間の元に' (Condemnation is Universal to Humans).

Is 15:23 and 15:33 considered key changes? The singer pulling that off that section was my fav part, seems really risky to do live. So much control!
It certainly sounds like a key change, 2 in fact, before it goes back to it's original key.
I love this part, I use it as a ring tone. The bad thing, is that when there is a call, I don't want to answer!

Nice review of a great song. Had to laugh though when you said at the beginning that you hoped you wouldn't get bored... Whatever else they might say, I can't imagine anyone has ever come remotely close to calling Unlucky Morpheus boring :)
About a year ago, the instrumental members put out an album of covers and uploaded several associated videos to You Tube - probably the standout for me was their cover of Far Beyond the Sun (with the twist that the violinist played Yngwie's original guitar part while the guitarist played what was originally Jens Johansen's keyboard part): czcams.com/video/E2hZDzJp9Pc/video.html - I almost included it when I sent you a bunch of requests on Patreon several weeks ago but it was one of a couple I left off because i thought I was already starting to push it with the number of songs I had already requested (but it was popular enough at the time, maybe someone else already put it in the queue).

I'm not a fan of the growling vocals. There are better Unlucky Morpheus songs. I adore Fuki though.
