I hate those folding glass pocket doors. "You let a lot of fresh air in" is the call phrase... yeah you know what else you let in? Critters! If you never had to chase out 2 dozen f'in moths in the middle of a night time cocktail party, if you haven't found a freaking water snake under your pillow, if you never had to shut the door right in front of the face of mama possum trying to move in with her babies: you never owned a house like this. Indoor-outdoor my ass... never again

For those who don’t know he was pressured to sell at a massive discount because he purchased a Jonas brother mansion in Encino while his house was still on the market. Having two homes gets very very pricey.😂😂😂
OMG! I found this house when it was for sale for $20M. I thought it was my dream home. Perfectly situated on a promontory with a huge front yard for events/retreats. I love it. Just started the video, so eager to hear what you say….So far agree withy your points about location, lot quality, orientation utilization privacy and views. But I really like the utilization….
I agree with much of the criticism, although I didn't see the small hallways in this video. The hallway shown was pretty wide, with a glass/open staircase to make it feel even more open. Although, I must admit, I've never seen someone buy a home because it had a pot filler in the kitchen, the dichotomy of a pot filler with a central vacuum is definitely intriguing. I agree with the assessment that the finishes are dated and off-blance, but this seems somewhat acceptable in Hollywood where older luxury homes are more common. As for his minimal financial gain when he sold it, you nailed it when you said it was bachelor-oriented and not kid friendly. When you customize a house to you, you often make it less appealing to others as a property to purchase (particularly if you're an inexperienced home owner, bachelor, etc.).
$18,499.000. Can only imagine the amount of people seeing that number and be like YES, it's under $18.500.000 it's a bargain 🤣.

Totally agree on the finishes. As for indoor air quality, central vacuum is the way to go maid or no maid. Here in Las Vegas, those out dated finishes are the "in" rage in homes costing $10 million upwards.

Wonderful architect review of Zedd mansion, rating location, lot, orientation, architecture, and finishes.I agree the land use is bad, the house should have been in the middle of the lot, that would have created an equal space in the front and the back.
That would have killed the view though, since the edges of the hill would partially block line of sight. You need the house on the edge of the hiltop, NOT in the middle 😂

I built this house in Minecraft as closely as I could based on this video when I was 14 or 15😂. Looking back on it I definitely don't like it as much as I did back then.

You might give the view a 6, but he gives it a 10, and it is his opinion that counts 😂
As for the placement on the lot, if the house was in the center it would kill any view it had due to it being on top of a hill. To get a clear view, you need the view side of the house near the edge of the hilltop, not in the middle. Sorry, but you are wrong in your assessment.
The tree needs to be a shady fish tail palm, not a stupid artificial tree. You might get away with a constructed tree lined in rough cork bark where you planted orchids, bromilliads, and ferns. If you are crazy about a tree, consult a landscape architect who also designs interior plantings. Unfortunately, the tree's roots were damaged.
Who is ZED?
Zedd is a DJ/ music producer who became famous in 2012 with the song Clarity (there's some controversy about him stealing writing credits from co-producer Matthew Koma)... Interestingly he's half Russian & half German but will only say he's German for some reason.

Modern architecture is disgusting
Wonderful house, insanely coozy pool-backyard..
but:
Super small master bed, super small closet.
NO sauna!
NO dedicated gym!
Badly planned rooms.
NO wine cellar or wine cabinet/wall.
NOOOOO bar!
IMPOSSIBLE to add a sauna or a bar even.
At least the backyard is large enough to add a sauna or gym or a smaller ball court oh and finally you have some privacy so strolling around hung over butt naked is not a problem.
