Go Around - Runway closed !! London Heatrow Time-Lapse (HD)

  • A Boeing 777 of British Airways aborted a Take-Off. That` s why thwy had to close one of the busiest runways in the world. In the end of this video you can see a Go Around and the following planes swinging over to the parrallel runways. I have never seen something like this before.
    This was my first try to do a time-lapse at London Heathrow. I didn` t plan to upload another Time-Lapse video from LHR and the focus of this video is definitly on the go around and the swingover. But why should I delete the footage in front of the go around? The reason for this go around was a rejected takeoff of a British Airways Boeing 777. I hope you like it and thanks for watching.

    I cannot imagine what it must be like being the controller handling this final stage. Kudos to them.

    • @efoxxok7478
      @efoxxok7478 Před 7 lety +3

      dollyknockers actually while the final controller job can be difficult its not the most difficult. At least here in the us it's not... the second most difficult job is the outer arrival fix controllers. Different names/jobs at every airport, but primary job is to take multiple streams of arrivals and put them into one stream. At Chicago center there are 4 arrival fixes those controllers get from 2-4 streams of arrivals each and blend them into one, then the first TRACON controller gets two and as much as 3 of those arrival fixes and blend them into one. Final controller is busy with the timing of turns onto final for maximum m efficiency. He occasionally has a plan from another fix, but the hardest part in my opinion is done by then. The hardest job IMHO is ground control at ORD. total chaos all the time. The only good part is that in a worse case scenario the planes can stop till you figure out what to do. Can't do that when they're flying.

    I believe "sidestep" is the correct term. It's actually not used in Europe (in the US I've seen it been done), but I I guess the planes changing runways abandoned ILS approach and went for visual to 27R. So practicly a sidestep but not really :D

      Many airports will use a single runway for both take off and landing to maximize efficiency, especially in an airport like Heathrow with only a few runways. While a takeoff lineup is in progress a plane can land and afterwards that plane can takeoff. It also depends on what direction they need to fly in; are they going across Europe or the Atlantic?

    • @binarysignals9593
      @binarysignals9593 Před 6 lety

      Bloody Requiem heathrow only uses a landing runway and deaprture runway, they very rarely mix them, unless in this case the schedule demands that they switch runways from landing to take off and vice versa which makes this video so rare, also airplanes never line up on a runway whilst another is landing, as it is highly dangerous for 2 aircraft to occupy 1 runway, unless a plane has already cleared the path and is safe to do so. It does not matter which way the aircrafts are flying as aircraft are able to turn in mid air..

    • @rooklunary790
      @rooklunary790 Před 6 lety

      You are correct, I'm used to monitoring one runway airports so I figured that it was standard in cramped situations. I don't know why I said that about lining up while someone is landing... I must've been half asleep. I tend to say stupid things like that when tired.
