    Great video and instructions seemingly describing my driver game. I tend to get too steep and have a negative attack angle with a little outside in path when things aren’t going well. Putting Rory side by side with you showed another great visual as almost every golfer on the planet would take his driver swing.

    Eric, thanks for all your videos. You explain and demonstrate very well. I have a problem with my driver and other woods, mainly in hitting them off the golf course right (righty golfer), or duck hooking. My irons typically go rather straight, though at times they turn into more of a roundhouse hook than a gentle draw. My ball position is much more forward than it used to be so I don’t think that’s the issue. The feeling I get when I hit the push is I wind up with my hands flailing way right on the follow-through or basically not finishing the swing at all. Any recommendations?

    Eric, this stomp and stretch feels literally changed my game over night. Thursday I kept hitting my driver right into the woods. Friday after watching this video I hit almost every fairway dead straight getting distance I’ve never got before.
    I noticed this extra depth really helps with getting shallow. I also focused on the same stomp and stretch on the opposite side thru impact and finish.
    Love your informative videos. Thanks a ton!

    Great video - thx. The only thing I would say is you say to take a small step with your left foot at address which takes you 2 or 3 inches ahead of the ball, and then when you are getting ready to hit the ball you subconsciously move your left foot back 2 or 3 inches so that it is level with the ball.

    Great instructions! What causes my tee to sometimes be 10 ft behind me after I swing, and sometimes the tee doesn't move and sometimes it end slightly in front of where I hit the tee shot? Also my trail foot should it be at a 90 degree angle or flared out to the right. I try to keep a weight feel on my big toes of both feet pushing in on the ground creating a better balance feel on the swing! Your thoughts?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  Před rokem

      Hey Doug!
      Thanks so much for watching!
      I would flare out both feet slightly...flare trail foot to about 1 o'clock and lead foot to about 11 o'clock👍
      This is really important because it (1) opens up the hips, knees, and the ankles to rotate (to make it easier for the hips to turn and get more body rotation/more range of motion) + (2) takes stress off the knees and body as you turn.
      In regards to the weight/pressure shifting concepts, here are two videos you may enjoy checking out for more details!

    Hey Eric! Great video!! Thanks for doing this. One question from an amateur golfer…would you say the right arm is not as bent on a driver swing compared to an iron swing? I watched your other video on the right arm’s role in the swing and there is a bend to it for irons however on the driver swing the right arm is straighter?? Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

    The tilt away from target at address is going to encourage a flat shoulder plane at the top of the backswing (lower right shoulder/higher left shoulder). Do you need left side bend in the backswing and does the tilt away from the target at address make this more difficult should this be the case?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  Před rokem +3

      Hey there!
      Yes, you still need lead side bend in the backswing. The trail side bend at setup would only make your lead side bend in the backswing more difficult if you WAY overdo it.
      The best and longest drivers of the ball have much more tilt of their upper body angled away from the target at setup...this is very important when we're hitting a driver because it presets our head behind the ball...which we need for the upward strike.
      Tour players have their heads 8-10 inches behind the ball at setup.
      Head back to start, keep it back in backswing, keep it back on way down. This helps you to get the club head swinging slightly more UP on the ball and the ball should then launch higher and carry farther with your same club head speed.
      Here's another driver video you might like to check out!

      Hope this helped!

    Hi Eric this is probably more of a question for Corgano golf membership but the reason I don’t hit my driver is for me to make good contact I have to feel like I’m trying to hit a tee a softball length inside of the actual tee. Sometimes I still barely graze the heel so it goes back in the garage. I hit 3 wood off the tee and aim one golf ball length inside. Both of these go pretty straight but it’s some sort of swing plane issue I don’t have with my irons?

    I feel like you left out just one point - the wide takeaway as you stomp aka transfer wait to the right foot insole. Can't tell you how many times my playing buddies just "pick up the club" to initiate the takeaway and have a very steep backswing with no width. That makes them even steeper coming down and naturally, they duff the ball or hit cruise missiles. Other than that, EXCELLENT commentary and explanation 👍

    • @CogornoGolf

      bit less so with irons.......but the big difference in the UPPER body with the driver.
      Lower body still forward with both....but with driver head more back.
      More on differences on that between irons and driver relative to getting to left side here:

      Hey Drew! I would hesitate to offer specific personal advice without seeing your swing first. IF you can find a good club fitter to work with in person you should find your solutions

    • @gunghogolf
      @gunghogolf Před rokem

      Adjustable hosel drivers usually have an upright lie angle setting, which you absolutely need at your height. I’m 6’3” and use it.
      Having the toe significantly higher than the heel at setup is critical, as the head will “droop” down through impact, taking away as much as 5-6° of that lie angle.
      If your clubhead is level or (gasp) toe-down at impact, you’ll have a tough time hitting a draw.
      Another critical piece is not letting the hands return to impact too high I like to take note of my hand position at setup in my peripheral vision, and try to return them to the same spot or slightly targetward through impact.
      I’ve seen guys have immediate success in straightening out a push/fade ball flight with a 30-second lie angle change on the adjustable hosel.

    You die hard traditional golfers won't like this but if you were to adopt the single plane golf swing you would eliminate the difficulty of playing golf. For years I didn't even carry a driver
    because I could not hit it. Once I looked into Moe Norman and Todd Graves single plane system of golf my problems evaporated. Not only was I successful and confident with my driver, but I could hit the ball straight down the fairway virtually every time. Once you understand the simple formula for setup you can play consistent golf without much practice. Notice how the golf magazines and golf shows continually are bombarding you with tips, tips and more tips. Completely unnecessary. The golf lesson industry would soon crumble. Sorry, Eric. Love your channel and your short game advice has been very instructive to me and my golf scores. Keep swinging.
