When you're ill or feeling down ALL you want is some comforting food. I hope you enjoy today's video if you like short form video head over to my instagram for more: instagram.com/sustainably_vegan/
I love all forms of your videos... short, long, and everything in between! 🌿💜
Hope you feel better soon Immy :)
I'm also having a sick day today, feeling stuffy and sad, and this video was like a big hug
I love that you include the everyday sounds, not only music. Gives it a really nice atmosphere! x
Thank youuuu!
I agree with you Emelia... the sounds, the music, the visual, the passion and emotion... this all combines for a really nice little experience here on YT.
@@SustainablyVegan I love the touches like your parents or the burnt bits etc... thank you for keeping it realistic x
I agree and usually watch her videos more than once, they have an ASMR-like relaxing quality to them :)
I don't know why but I really appreciate that you didn't edit your dad out of the background when you were cooking. So many people would be rude to parents ask them to leave or refilm for the 'aesthetic'. I find these small bits of respect that you show others and authenticity really calming.
The year was 1969... it was a memorable childhood experience... I learned how to bake brownies when I was a Brownie. It was love at first bite... because who doesn’t love that gooey chocolate delight? Immy, these comfort treats look hella-delish!! The inner Brownie in me will definitely be baking these Pecan Coffee Brownies this weekend. Ha’amiya (thank-you) Immy!! PS - Gotta love your baking Mom!! PPS - I love that this is Part 1... because this means that ultimately there will be a Part 2. (I’m here for the sequel too)
So many parts coming... hmmm I love brownies so much
I started watching this video, and I hadn't been outside yet today. When you said you were going for a walk, I immediately stopped the video and braved the cold winter and walked for 45 minutes. Thank you for the reminder how good these walks are for us! I feel much more grounded and happy :)
Everytime you upload it makes me think of how much better my mental health would be if I was in a different environment :( I love getting more ideas of things to do from you. I just wish I could figure out how to make my space feel better since I'm stuck here.
The sound of the coffee pouring 🥰
Your videos help relax me so much. I’ve been having a really draining pregnancy but with a baby on the way I’ve been trying to decrease my impact on the world as I lived pretty carelessly in the past. Feel better girl! ❤️
I'm 33 weeks and having a very hard time
@@winterrrsea1674 you too girl, it’s so rough but it’ll be so worth it ❤️ I’m only at 14 weeks so I’m very early on yet still but you’re almost done!
I hope your labor is as easy as it can be and that you can be with your loved one/ones when you welcome your little peanut into the world 🥰
@@biancakekoa1363 Oh thank you :) hopefully you are about to hit the sweet spot where you don't feel sick for a while!!
I’ve found that being cooped up at home has made me really angry and snippy. Very quick to react angrily to every little thing. You’re absolutely right that a good, long, walk clears my mind and improves my attitude...at least for a little while. :)
where can I find a kitchen like this? It's the kitchen of my witchy dreams
Thank you for sharing your life on good days and not so good days. It makes your youtube community feel so real and welcoming. Also those brownies look delicious! Definitely a comfort food of mine as well
Hi Faustine, I love your comment and I love this community. I’m always a bit shocked when I hear friends talking about the negative comments and the nastiness on YT. I’m know this situation exists... I’m not naive... but the thoughtfulness and kindness of the people here in this community are a beautiful reflection of Immy and the caring nature of the people who are here in support. I hope you are having an awesome day.
Your hair looks abseloutly gorgeous 😍 please do a video on sustainable hair care and what you use and products and drying 😊 your videos have really helped me x
love you loathe the background musak revolting silence is golden
Honestly appreciate your approach so much - your newer content is ticking all my boxes of wanting to be more planet conscious, while also embracing winter/British eating and the balance of needing to be healthy but also needing comfort food. Ahhh love it! Keep going
I made "chunky monkey" buckwheat groats the other day with cacao nibs, raisins, walnuts and banana of course. Such a warm hug in a bowl. The pear porridge looks wonderful. X
I am so fascinated by that stove!!
if you put the deseeded vanilla beans in a jar with sugar and stir every few days, you get the most amazing vanilla sugar. Where I live, recipes usually use vanillin/vanilla sugar instead of vanilla extract. You just subtract a tbsp or so from the sugar
You make cooking seem so relaxing, and I just realized it's because you're not using a microwave! I'd love to start using the stove more, having to be patient while everything cooks, nice and slow. And usually I have the radio on, or headphones playing an audiobook, but I noticed you didn't - that's something I'd like to start doing too... just sitting with my own thoughts, and focusing on the sounds of the chopping or stirring, like my own ASMR session. You're an inspiration, as always. ;)
I love love love Shortbread, so thank you sooo much for a vegan recipe! I'll definitely try it out. Also the pears look delicious.
I hope you're feeling better now and are able to rest whenever you need it.
Love and strength to you. Hope you feel better soon. Xx
I bet your kitchen smells amazing with those vanilla beans 😍 if you stick the used bean pod in a bottle of vodka/rum you get the most delicious tipple
The used vanilla bean pod in a bottle of vodka/rum is a great tip. Thank-you for this. I must admit that I don’t know what a “tipple” is, but this is a fun little hack and I know what I will be doing with my vanilla bean pod after the baking is done this weekend.
Tipple is just slang for a cheeky little alcoholic drink :)
@@Blowyourtop Thanks for this... ya learn something new everyday. Have a great weekend and may you enjoy some tipple!
Thanks for another wonderful video :) Love the morning self talk and setting your intentions and priorities for the day so when your not feeling your best you are still able to do the needed items. :) I have a condition that causes chronic fatigue and it’s helped me a lot.
Thank you for another beautiful video, it feels like a warm hug from a friend (a very precious feeling in these times!). Hope you are feeling better!
If you roll out your shortbread on your baking silicon then cut your shapes & remove excess it’s a little easier
Oh no, I hope you'll feeling better. Get well soon and stay safe. I love porridge! I definitely try it with organic pears.
I am glad you promote fair trade products!
Well this is funny, I was already planning to make biscuits tomorrow! Nothing is more satisfying than biscuits and tea. :) I have a LOT of English in my family, lol.
Cheers from across the pond!
Thank you for such a calm and comforting video :) Hope you feel better soon!
I tend to use avocado oil. It has a neutral oil.
really nice and calming video. gotta try the biscuits!
I would always mash a banana in my porridge instead of sweetner, works a treat
Immy, your videos always feel like a warm hug. I’ve been making brownies this winter as well and having them with coffee, because it’s such a comforting dessert. Hope you feel better soon 💕
hey there❤️ i so appreciate that you talk about ethical consumption and climate change as well as low waste and veganism, because i feel like many vegan influencers talk only about animal welfare and forget about the impact on humans and the environment, which i think is a shame. so thank you so much for your intersectional, but also understanding and no-pressure approach! you are truly one of my favourite creators❤️
Hope you feel better soon! Thanks for sharing!
These recipes look great!
I just clicked the bell bc I just realized I didn’t get the notification for this video! Gaaa! I hope you’re well! Greetings from the suburbs of Chicago.
Thank you for all the videos you do. More would be great! These get me through the winter!!!!
Get well soon! Take it easy
I'm sorry you weren't feeling well. I'm glad you are doing great self care. Xo
Your videos are so relaxing. This made me want to cook brownies and just cook in general 🌻
I love your kitchen!
Such a lovely, calm vibes video. I hope you are feeling better!
Wow the landscape looks so dreamy where you live!! Well maybe not dreamy, lol, but it has a weirdly amazing look to it. Dont know but thank you so much for filming it :)
Hope you feel both physically and mentally better soon. Looking forward to part 2. If you don't take it easy we'll tell your mum!! 😁😁
I’m here for Part 2 also... and every other Part that comes along. Bring on the sequel... haha! I love this channel and this community. I hope you are having an awesome day, and that you are feeling well also.
Such a beautiful and relaxing video❤️ and those views when you went for a walk! I wish I was in the countryside too... Take care❤️
I loved this video! Hope you feel better!
Hope you're feeling better Immy! Your videos are such a lovely resource of calm for me at the moment :) those pears looked gooooooooooood!
that breakfast looks incredible
Those biscuits look amazing! Will definitely try this along with your pear recipe. Hope you are feeling better x
Get well soon! 💕
Feel better /hugs!
Excited for part 2 :-)
This video was so relaxing to watch, and we're looking forward to part 2-especially seeing how you prepare your mum's Welsh cake! Have a lovely week.
Hope you'll fell better soon. The foods look good!
Get well soon ! 😊
You are my absolute favorite and I look up to you so so much
Immy we hope you're feeling better. Sending love light and healing from across the ocean.❤
really been loving the vibe on your channel lately. also, inspired by all your walks i made my new years resolution to just get out *every* day for a walk. it's really helped both my mental and physical health so thank you so much.
Get well soon!
Really good advices for "low days"! My confort foods are: oats (in any recipe), chickpeas (in soup or as a sweet dessert) and chai tea XD
Thank you for this video! My next step in reducing my footprint is to reduce my screentime. I read somewhere that transmitting video requires the double amount of energy compared to only transmitting audio. I love your content, but is there anywhere I can hear you amazing tips as a podcast or something like that?
Keep up the good work! You are so admirable :-)
That porridge looks so delicious 😋 thanks so much for sharing lovely ❤
Take care!
Get better soon Immy! X
Totally craving comfort foods as well right now since it’s currently exam time. Thanks for motivating me to actually make myself something decent that’s still comforting but not in the ramen and pizza kind of zone of unhealthy!
Made exactly this couple of weeks ago and let the pear get extra ripe so no sugar needed. It was amazing!
Yes, welsh cake recipe please🥰
I have almond flour and coconut flour and now have to google vegan shortbread cookie using those.
Almond flour sounds like it would be delicious. Great idea
I really liked this video :)
♥️Thank you so much this is nice 👍
Big Street Food 🍱!!
yessss i love your food videos the most! i usually put it on while im eating (i never have appetite its so hard for me to eat >.
Hope you feel better soon gorgeous. 😘
Hi ! I just keep seeing your stutterheim rain boots. are they worth the price ?
Food looks so warm and comforting, xxx
I've watched a lot of your food videos and I'm always left wondering where that apron is from! It's the apron of dreams - I definitely need one!
Maybe I can help you out a bit with the apron. I don’t know where Immy’s apron is from, but I am a high school sewing teacher from 🇨🇦 and my students make aprons in my classroom. This style of apron is called a “cross back apron”. It is a vintage style of apron that requires no ties or apron strings. If you are a sewist, they are quite easy to make and patterns are available. If sewing is not your thing, you can find them on etsy or in on-line stores.
The litle saucepan for the milk is so cute :3 does it have an specific name?
I love how calming and soothing your videos are Immy. I love to hear the sounds of the spoon clanking on the bowl (why do so many CZcamsrs edit that out? 😢). Hope you feel better soon, very much looking forward to further cosy baking videos! ❤️❤️❤️ PS, I prefer to sweeten my porridge with banana rather than sugar too, and I've recently discovered that if you microwave (or dry fry) the banana for a minute first, it becomes gooey and toffee like.... Yum!!! 😍😍😍
Hi Adele... what a great tip... I never thought of sticking my banana in the mikey to heat it up for porridge. Thanks so much for spreading the warm banana joy 🍌🍌🍌
@@marycharlebois6627 enjoy the gooey banana goodness! 😂
Hands up I saw your IG and went to buy a pear... I don't even normally like them hahah x
I hope this is a good tip never meant to be rude, didnt know it myself until recently. Always use wooden or metal utensils when using heat, as plastic or silicone does melt. Saw in the winter foods vid stirring with a spatula, which i guess are only meant for mixing without heat. Thank you for your videos! Very relaxing!
Always appreciate tips!!
@@SustainablyVegan Thank you for accepting me! I saw wolf gang puck say it and thought it was valuable! And thank you for your videos again lol!
Comment for the algorithm 🥰 get well soon!
Hope you feel better! Lockdown has fucked with my mind and body to no end, even though I'm more fortunate than most. Sour cherries are amazing in brownies if that's your thing ;) I'm waiting for some bread to rise as I watch this. Much love x
Also, do you have recommendations for websites or apps that help us understand whether a company is ethical or not? Like a searchable database?
Ah I hope you feel better too! Yep same it's completelyyyyyy messed me up, but journaling has become really good for me to just get every thought and emotion out. Surprisingly I've found it helps with my mood swings, as well as meditation which I used to hate. I think a good site is the ethical consumer website, they have some good lists and run downs. I always just search 'brand name' then scandal or unethical practices and see if anything comes up. Tbh if a company is ethical then they'll be shouting about it!
@@SustainablyVegan *aggressive interpretative dance signifying comfort and empathy* you're doing your very very best I am sure. Thanks for the recommendation!
Question: what degree should the oven be at for cooking? I'm trying the vegan short bread. (I looked in the doc linked and in the video and did not see this but could have missed it of course.) Thanks!
I am a new subscriber. I see your parents in the background of some of the shots. Are they also vegan? If not, are they supportive of your lifestyle?
I think she mentioned in another video that they’re not vegan because she said she reuses the egg cartons they get from buying eggs
❤
Immy, I have been watching all your cooking/ baking and love them - but can you please tell us how your oven works? It looks very old so I am not sure
i think by the look of it it might be heated by the fire that also heats the stove :)
As a farmer, I'm confused how you can walk through field and pastures with out asking or just at random?? 😳 Love ur videos btw!! 💞☺️
I'm guessing you are not from the UK? Here we have footpaths which are ancient 'rights of way' where the ordinary people are allowed to cross that land. They are well marked on maps here.
Hey! Where is your apron from? :)
You’re so beautiful. I feel if I knew you in real life we would be friends. ☺️
❤❤❤❤ I'd like to think so
Where is your big puffy jacket from? x
What types of spices are included in the mixed spice blend you use? I have never seen a blend titled like where I am in the US
Mixed spice is a blend found in the UK! We use it for mince pies, Christmas cake, etc. I live abroad and couldn’t find it, but you can make it pretty easily. It’s very similar to pumpkin pie spice blends, but with the addition of a spice called mace. I made mince pies using a pumpkin pie spice blend and I didn’t really taste a huge difference without the mace, so you can just use that or make your own blend and up the nutmeg slightly.
Cat following you into bathroom. Sounds about right.
I, too, noticed the cat’s tail as she faithfully followed Immy into the bathroom. It made me chuckle. It’s the little things in life, like a loyal cat, that are precious 🐱
Does that cup have a bottom? U just put 2ltrs of liquid and didn't event made it to The top of the cup!!!! Magic!
I do not see your brownie recipe?
You may really enjoy vizion boarding & collaging.. ?
A vanilla bean? Damn you are financially stable
*uses it rarely because they are scarily expensive*
