As I got older I saw that my dad has never healed from his trauma and lived his whole life in survival mode. Solution: We can give low earning married couples free income tax.
This eliminates welfare culture and promotes healthy family dynamics, it also preemptively tackles single motherhood consequences on children like:
      Higher incarceration rates,
      Higher mental health vulnerability.
Worse predictions for personal relationship success.
      Lower projections for education.
100x more likely to be abused by a step parent.
More likely to live in poverty.
More likely to have addiction problems.
Given these known hazards on the next generation it is reasonable to suggest that this is the biggest crisis the west faces and there are solutions that get ignored.

None of these cause fatherless homes. Men were abandoning their families long before these things were in place or running around impregnating women. Nick Cannon is a prime example. None of what you’ve listed is keeping him out of the home.
A lot of men lack sexual discipline or a sense of responsibility to anyone other than themselves.
Women are now learning to stop dealing with most and having higher standards resulting in the declining birth rate and the “rise of lonely men” article outcomes.
Also, nothing is stopping men from changing policies and the law. The majority of judges, lawyers, politicians, etc are men. Men could change things if they really wanted to.

Fatherlessness has nothing to do with this. I'm from India and was raised by my single mother when my dad died ar the age of 32 and mom was just 30. Lack of family values, lack of discipline, lack of respect for elders, not prioritizing education is the main issue. Also the govt interfering into other countries rather than focusing on its own people. My mom suffered a lot,was strict and we three kids are successful now. Many Americans bring up their children rather more freely with less discipline. And also there is very less community support when someone suffers hardship.

Welfare State has had same results for UK, Iceland, USA and any number of western countries.

  • @ineedhoez
    @ineedhoez Před rokem +2

I agree that fatherlessness is a massive problem. I am glad that they addressed the issue of fathers being physically there but not present. So it is not just being in the same household, it actually raising your kids.
The issue is not feminism. The issue is not religion. The issue is the economic!!!! Prior to the 1950s we lived in mutli generational homes with extended kinship support. This meant inlaws, cousins, even boarders helped with the running of the household. We removed the built in support networks that come with family and extended kin and dumped all of the responsibility onto the mother. The nuclear family model with the single male breadwinner did not exist at anytime in human history and has disintegrated as quickly as it came. It was always a fabrication. A PR campaign designed to sell cars, washing machines, and houses in the suburbs. Nothing more, nothing less.
It was a model designed to break up multi generational family living to sell products. The government subsidized every aspect of 1950s middle class American living.
    For example:
    1. 3% interest rates on 30 year mortgages. Prior to this, you needed a 50% down payment and had to pay off a mortgage in 10 years.
    2. We robbed the cities public transportation infrastructure money to build interstate highways to sell cars and suburban sprawl.
    3. The federal government subsidized private industry by giving away military technology so companies could turn a profit. This created high paying jobs for unskilled laborers.
    4. WW2 just ended and the U.S enjoyed zero competition in the production of goods because the world was in shambles
    5. Banking laws were changed so that money that money could be invested outside of the communities where the depositors lived.
    6. Tax subsidies to car manufacturers that legit still exist today.
    7. Fully government funded colleges. GI bills allowed men to get free education and increase their skills.
The list goes on. The U.S. economic policy was designed to create an environment where the sole male breadwinner model could exist. Once they stopped subsidizing it, it crumbled. The only reason the middle class didn't fall into poverty is because the women in those families went back to work.
You can actually track the employment data and see that middle class white women had returned to the work force wayyyy before the "feminism" came into play. Once again, feminism means that political, economic, and social equality, between the sexes. Women being allowed to vote, own property, have credit cards. Feminism is NOT about removing men from the homes. The economic castration removed men from the homes.
In the seventies, when we started shipping unskilled jobs out of the country, we started to see the deterioration of the family unit.
You can use the African American culture as a perfect example of what happens when the men are not economically viable. Blacks were gaining footing after slavery because they were skilled laborers. Jim crow, and discrimination played a major role in the black men not being able to be providers as the skills they were excluded from working in their skilled trades. Their inability to provide meant the women had to fend for themselves. Marriage is and has always been a vehicle for economic mobility. Why marry someone who is not financially strong? Make no sense.
Fast forward 40 years and you see the devastation. Now, white America is starting to feel the economic consequences of (1) the government destruction of the extended family kinship model and (2) the failure to continue to subsidize the male sole bread winner model.
We are about to experience more job displacement due automation. The men have to level up and find a valuable skill they can sell in the market. You cannot be an unskilled laborer and make it. This is not about religion. It is about politics, in terms of who you vote for and which policies they enact. Once again we are fighting each other instead of demanding that our government use out tax dollars to help families. They have the men and women divided, they have the races divided, the religions divided! What do we all have in common? We ALL work for a living. We are not the leisure class. You can own your own business but you are still working class. If you cant retire today and your grand kids will be ok, then your ass is WORKING class. Focus on stabilizing the working class by:
    1. Creating good paying jobs
    2. Free tuition so we can learn new skills
    3. Low cost childcare (which would have been free in the extended kinship model).
    4. Lower hosing costs
    5. Free health care
You know, all of the basic stuff that all other industrialized nations do to support their citizens. Nordic countries are notoriously non religious and leftist. Yet, they don't have any of the problems we have.

It's not just feminism. My ex-husband grew up in a 2 parent home, so he experienced what having his parents under the same roof. Fast forward, he (exhusband) abandoned us his family to make house with another women and another man's children. He left behind a 12 year old girl and 5 year old boy, who loved his dad. When he was leaving he said, " the kids will be ok." My son at 24 copes with abandonment issues. Breaks my heart.

As a single father who fully believes that fathers are devalued in our society, I have to say that it's VERY unfortunate that Prager almost solely focuses on toxic feminism and secularism here. The problem isn't the college-educated woman who decides that she doesn't need a husband and ends up wanting to have a child. Those things can play a role, but the bigger problem is that people have sex irresponsibly and that society, through its devaluing fatherhood lets too many fathers off the hook and doesn't demand and expect involvement. That transcends left and right.

The US has the highest rate of children living in a single parent household at 23%
Compared to the word average at 7% with China's 3% and India's 4%
80% of single-parent homes are led by single mothers
Father present at home only spends about 30 minutes per week in 1on1 conversations with his son
For comparison, the same boy on average will spend about 44 hours per week watching television playing video games, and surfing the internet.
90% of all homeless and runaway children, 63% of suicide 85% of children and teens with behavioral disorders come from fatherless homes
Roughly 70% of teenage pregnancies come from women raised in fatherless homes and the same women have significantly higher abortion rates
