    Thats cutback adhesive and yes you can 100% go over it.
    Just read the bag whatever you are patching with like ardex. Do do not scrape or sand floor unless you know it's not asbestos

    • @bsmbB
      @bsmbB Před 2 lety

      If you sand cut back it doesnt turn in to dust it just cakes up in to little balls and most patching leveling compounds that actually are "able" to go over cutback require you to scrape it to the concrete the glue ridges are gone. But where im from the home owner can legally remove asbestos products from their own home

    • @meetstepsisalcoholicdouche6167
      @meetstepsisalcoholicdouche6167 Před 2 lety

      @@bsmbB it cakes up a bit yes. Really you don't need to remove it unless it's thick. Personally I just patch over it with ardex like I've been the last 25 years
      Ardex you can go up to a 1/2 deep so you can just skim over it
      If you know it's not asbestos you can sand it. If it's thick sure it will cake up. Thays when you bring out the scarifying plate.

    • @bsmbB
      @bsmbB Před 2 lety

      @@meetstepsisalcoholicdouche6167 ardex states in their surface prep tech sheet that cutback must be thin enough to apear as a stain on the concrete or it must be carefully removed. And you have to check with the adhesives manufacturer if the bleed through will cause the new adhesives to not bond to the patching compound if it will you are supposed to bury it with their leveling compound. I guess you been doing it wrong for 25 years

    If you're like me and cannot get laticrete products in my area, the mapei ecoprim is a good product for the same purpose and works extremely well. Used it several times in this application and for plaster substrate for backsplash, (even though the Mosaic thinset says you can just go right over top of the plaster at the bond I do not trust it) and have had zero issues and great results

Nowhere have I seen any comparison tests on crack isolation or strength claims. Loved your tests on grouts ,very surprising. Plenty of people using these uncoupling membranes but no comparisons.
