Before Stalingrad, there is Kalach which is gateway to Stalingrad. Kalach is important as losing this means road to Stalingrad is wide open. The 1st Tank Army and 4th Tank Army losses during battle of Kalach is around 200 tanks, in 3 days.
At this early point in the war it really wasn't even a fight if the soviet union wasn't as colossal as it was they would have surrendered or been capitulated forsure at this point russia was throwing bodies and giving ground which it had plenty of both to spare

Походу битва за разъезд 74 км. Почти все Т -34 сталинградского производства. Конец августа и начало сентября. Цена этих потерь удержания Сталинграда. Только тут не показыыают потери 4 танковой армии.

Пишут что перед Калачем на Дону действовали против 6 армии Паулюса. Но на подмогу 6 армии шла на помощь со стороны Ростова 4 та армия. Там тоже было примерно такое же побоище

I read an account by Hermann Bix where he instructed his gunner to aim for the barrel. He put three rounds through it, a KV-1, and when the crew fired their gun it detonated back into the turret. The hole in the barrel was probably just a lucky shot, perhaps a deliberate shot.

If I had to guess, they were knocked out by Panzer III with 37mm or 50mm guns at very close range. Someone else commented they were likely surrounded, with the tanks facing different directions. At this stage of the war, based on the equipment i see here, the most likely adversary was the Panzer III. They had to be close to hit that barrel. Antitank guns could not surround them.
@@chooyongming110 The StuK 40 75mm would do more damage than this. It could kill the KV-1 without needing to shoot up the barrel. This was a tactic employed by smaller gun armed Panzers to knock the heavy KV-1 out. There are numerous photos from the Eastern Front showing KV tanks with holes in the gun barrels. If you look up the armor penetration tables, the StuK 40 could knock out a KV-1. Even frontally, but just barely. From the sides it would penetrate. It was either Otto Carius or Kurt Knispel that spoke about shooting the gun barrels on the KV-1 from their Panzer 38T to at least disarm it. The hole is also considerably smaller than 76.2 mm, the 75mm would have made a bigger hole.

Nope, those holes are from direct hit, see how they are not angled? The size of the holes means 75 mm or bigger in some of those tanks, some got smaller holes.
The problem with videogames is that nothing can be 100% exact like in real life, I'd boldly assume - not to forget the bias of Gaygin as a side note. Also, single battles can't prove the fully capability of tanks, as an example, since factors such as tactics and experience of one side's units at the battle have an impact on the outcome. The Germans reported that the Pak 43 could tear off turrets and throw engines out to land 30 meters away from the tank.
What did they use approaching the city to do that?

I read an account by Hermann Bix where he instructed his gunner to aim for the barrel. He put three rounds through it, a KV-1, and when the crew fired their gun it detonated back into the turret. The hole in the barrel was probably just a lucky shot, perhaps a deliberate shot.
I remember reading this, I could not remember who it was by however.

Not really, German tank gun as mounted on a Panzer IVG (introduced in 1942), the KwK 40 75mm, had no problems destroying KV-1s and T-34s.

If I had to guess, they were knocked out by Panzer III with 37mm or 50mm guns at very close range. Someone else commented they were likely surrounded, with the tanks facing different directions. At this stage of the war, based on the equipment i see here, the most likely adversary was the Panzer III. They had to be close to hit that barrel. Antitank guns could not surround them.
Pz IV with long barreled 75mm was available in 1942
@@chooyongming110 The StuK 40 75mm would do more damage than this. It could kill the KV-1 without needing to shoot up the barrel. This was a tactic employed by smaller gun armed Panzers to knock the heavy KV-1 out. There are numerous photos from the Eastern Front showing KV tanks with holes in the gun barrels. If you look up the armor penetration tables, the StuK 40 could knock out a KV-1. Even frontally, but just barely. From the sides it would penetrate. It was either Otto Carius or Kurt Knispel that spoke about shooting the gun barrels on the KV-1 from their Panzer 38T to at least disarm it. The hole is also considerably smaller than 76.2 mm, the 75mm would have made a bigger hole.

Nope, those holes are from direct hit, see how they are not angled? The size of the holes means 75 mm or bigger in some of those tanks, some got smaller holes.

The problem with videogames is that nothing can be 100% exact like in real life, I'd boldly assume - not to forget the bias of Gaygin as a side note.
