Perhaps life is about watching a video of a song written and sung by a very brilliant young girl that's so beautiful and moving it makes your heart melt.
It's great to see you checking out Angelina's original works! All of Angelina's originals are special in their own way, but this one is probably my favorite. Angelina is 12 in this recording, but it was likely written by her at age 11 or earlier. Aside from the incredible, soulful vocal she gives us, the subject itself is so beyond her years. It's not only beyond her years to ask the question "What is life?", but the answers she gives to that question really show what grounded person she is, and the things she values most... school, art, family. There's not a single line about material things... it's all about ideas and love. That is what we need more of in music.
My favorite as well. This song is under appreciated, but perhaps because he's a fellow songwriter, SLV gets it. Best reaction to this performance.

You express an antipathy for material success, things like a nice place to live, good and abundant food, nice clothes and other things. Is that what you mean? Do you think that someone can only achieve material success at the expense of sacrificing other values such as honestly or good will? Have you ever read Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, particularly Francisco's money speech in the book.?
@@davidfeinrider108 "apathy for material success" is definitely not what my message was there. I was speaking to the general trend in popular music for artists to brag about all thier wealth and what things they can buy with all their success. There is nothing wrong with material wealth, but if your song tells me what kind of car you drive or what brand your sneakers are... that's at the shallow end of the idea pool IMO. It also gives young minds the illusion that material things are a measure of a successful life, when in reality wealth and happiness are rarely connected.

Great, great reaction! I love the line about her sister, "after all she's the love of my life." The singing is sublime, and as you pointed out, this awesome music is coming out of a very simple home studio setup in a cramped room. She is just so unbelievably good!
She wrote this when she was 11. It is on her cd, It's Magic with full orchestra and she recorded this cd at 11 years old. She is 12 on this live one. Life for an 11 year old Angelina.

The pianist, Dylan Meek cowrote "Invincible" a song for Spyder-Man: Into the Spyder-Verse. The entire sound track was nominated for a grammy this year.

About the setup - in my opinion she's done some of her most soul touching performances with just Ivan Mendes on the guitarre and that mic. The guy introducing her is Grammy award nominee Dylan Meeks. So far she's shown a nack of getting talented people together.

You mentioned that AJ sounded a little like Nora Jones - they met when AJ was 10 years old(I think) in South Korea- they performed at the same venue AJ in the afternoon and Nora in the evening- Nora obviously was impressed by AJ's performance as she asked her to sing an extra song to fill in before Nora's performance- the crowd loved it!
Norah Jones loves Angelina, she has said "she is blessed." They were also both at the concert for Quincy Jones' 85th birthday & she had Angelina under her wing at the finale.

Nora Jones is under contract with Blue Note Records.. Both Republic Records and Blue Note Records are owned by Universal Music group. Blue Note Records specializes in Jazz and Blues. If Angelina ever has a contractual problem with Republic she could probably switch over to Blue Note.
If you listen to it 10,000 more times, it will amaze you at every listen. If you listen to the TV interview before she performs “Shield” on Norwegian TV, they ask her if she feels like 12 years old, and she replies “Only when I look at my Passport”. She really is an old soul in a young girl’s body. I’m already looking forward to your next reaction.
As P.S. said so well Angelina is the embodiment of an Angel with great wisdom ,compassion and love to spread to the world . I truly think she has been sent here at this time in history for a special mission to perform and from 1-1/2 years young she began it with gusto, Barely into her teen years she has already fulfilled her stated dreams and goals from a young girl of barely 7 years old. She has accomplished more in her first 7 to 13 years than most have in 30 to 50 years. , and she is just getting started in life!! Angelina can not be nothing but a musical wonder and a earth bound Angel from heavenly places.

It is truly moving to watch Angelina perform from a genuine place of authenticity. Everything she does is from the heart, emotions flowing, but with such amazing and mature control of her instrument. It takes your breath away!

Whatever else one can say about Angelina (and there is a lot), we must admit that as she touches us with nearly any song she picks sung any way she wishes, we must use the term 'unbelievable' less and less where she is concerned. She makes us believe.

Why are Ivan and the pianist joining her on this song unless they believe in her greatness.
I have watched Ivan interviewed about his relationship with the family and as someone who has such respect for Angie that he sometimes would lose his place during a recording because he was lost in her voice. She would respectfully help him and do one her rare second takes. Ivan has a full time job and working part time with Angie became untenable, but he remains a loyal fan who has glowing things to say about her and the family.

My friend, it's really not a mystery in regards to our feelings about Angelina. We love her so hard it's crazy. Every part of our being loves her. Like you said, she's brought back to you feelings of love that you have forgotten or misplaced. I don't know about you but, personally, I am a much nicer person since I know Angelina. Geez, I can hardly write this comment without my emotions bursting at the seams. I know how strongly you feel about her but you still have a long way to go with her musically. "You ain't seen nothin' yet!" Not a day goes by without me introducing Angelina to someone who hasn't heard her yet. Hi SoulReacts, one beautiful song to check out is Autumn Leaves by Angelina Jordan and while your at it, check out the french versions. The french title is 'Les feuilles mortes' and the renditions by Juliette Greco, Mouloudji and Yves Montant are all amazing. The French version was written by the modern French poet Jacques Prevert and the English translation just about does the lyrics justice.. In French it's the most melancholic ever esp. by Juliette Gréco.

Angelina once said the only time she felt like her age is when she looked at her passport.
Sometimes the magic comes from the mutual discomfort.Plus you have three top level musicians sharing the same air and all pulling in the same direction. I just got through with watching and listening to Daneliya singing Who You Are by Jessie J and she smashed it. Then I come here just after hearing Angelina sing Chris Izaak's Wicked Games where Angelina is playing the piano. Between these two I am going to have a terrible crying headache. Because no matter what these two totally different singers do is capture my heart with their honesty of performance. These two young women are 'My Twins' as I found them in the middle of the night three days apart. Two youngsters that from their first notes I knew they were special. And I'm thinking how are they, one from Oslo, Norway, the other from Almaty, Kazakhstan ever going to get the rest of the world to know how good they are. The miracle of the Internet and word of mouth from dopes like us to other dopes and I love geometric growth.
Now both these two will have won the first big competition they were in. Both were born the same year. Both dared to dream that all that is coming true for them is actually happening.Both have great families. Both have become beautiful young women. Both work hard and are crazy talented who when they do a cover it is usually better than the original artist's version. Then you throw in Dimash and Morissette Amon and you have some of the best singers in the world and none come from the U.S. or, G.B. I'm glad I lived long enough to have heard these wonderful singers. Thanks for your reaction. I know I went off the rails a bit but I was having a bad night nothing seems to be helping so writing about something positive I thought might help?! Nope!

I know of not one young singer/songwriter who would be already in life a philosopher and a moralist.
It is not that she Angelina is an old soul, I do not adhere one minute to that belief, but that she has a deep soul and so much universal love and true profond peace to give to the world and, more particularly, to each one of us.
In view of her artistic creativity, only Aurora dominates her for now.
This is my favorite Angelina original. My 2nd favorite is her tribute to her home town "Oslo," but the live versions on YT are fan-recorded videos with a too loud Big Band. The recording on her album "It's Magic" is well mixed & sounds great so a fan, Yozhik v Tumane, took the album track & put it with beautiful scenes of Norway. Her I have nothing Whitney Houston tribute song is the best song to really hear her range and to see a glimpse at how good she can really be in the future I highly recommend it.
