Wonderful collection! I agree with you on the consumerism part of this hobby - and I am guilty of wanting to buy and try all the pens when I first started. But I also am able to let go/sell pens that no longer bring me joy or I no longer use as often, so they go to people who will love them. And I love that about this hobby - there is always someone else who will find joy in the pens that were part of your collection and now need to move on. I find my collection is very fluid - not every pen is going to be a permanent part of my collection, and I'm okay with that! It's about discovery and what works during one part of my life may not suit me in another. Thanks again for this video!
Beautifully said! I got so much joy being able to purchase the Pilot E95s second hand. I liked that it was going from one person who loved it to another. So when that comes up for one of my pens, I am happy for it to go to someone else.
I am slowly making some guidelines for myself around the consumerism side of things. I want to only purchase bottles second hand. And I really want to see if FP friendly recycled paper exists. Not for my journal, but all the other bits and pieces of writing that I do.

Love the Kaweco. And the smaller converter is perfect for when you are just starting out and wanting to try lots of different inks.
I didn't realize the lamb safari was available with a 1.1 stub! I have been looking at the lamy joy. The body is long but it seems to be one of the most affordable ways to try a stub nib. That said, I need to look into the Kaweco calligraphy pens because I did not know those existed either. I'm so glad I haven't ordered anything yet. Thanks for the video!
The Lamy originally had a M nib, I purchased a 1.1 stub and put it on. Not sure if you can buy the pen and stub bib together.
Not sure how much the Joy is, but it may still work out cheaper to buy the safari and extra bib?
@@Pausewithapen oh! Ok. That makes sense. I left your video and tried finding safaris with a stub nib...I couldn't find anything. I can get a joy off Amazon for $22 but I don't think I'm going to like the body. However, the nib by itself costs $16 at Goulet Pens. We'll see what I do; it's not like I NEED it right now. 😅
Another option could be to see if there is an interchangeable stub nib for a pen you already own?

good idea, but I didn't find anything useful. I may be too new to the hobby and not have enough options. :) I did some more searching and found the Lamy stub nibs (and an A nib...architect?) at Cult Pens for only $8 each. 🤯 the joys may be a bit cheaper but if I can find some good deals on Safari or al-star bodies I'm going to nib swap instead!
And not just a 1.1 mm stub, but you can also get 1.5 and 1.9 mm stubs. A number of places sell the nibs alone. They are fairly easy to replace.
The number on the cap of the pen bbs 308 might be a limited edition number. Such as 266 out of 500 or something like that.
Ooh. Interesting thought. I will do some googling and see what I can find.
@@Pausewithapen actually now that I googled it, it looks like the 308 is an improved version of the 266.

Hi. Haven’t looked into pens from India too much. Also about being able to find Australian stockists. I feel the Ranga is maybe the most well known.
Do you have pen/brands from India you would recommend?
FYI PenBBS 266 band is because PenBBS is re-using 266 part for their new and improved 308. The parts are mostly inter-changeable. Then 308 becomes one of their absolutely best seller right now and the price went pretty high at the moment. I'm still hunting on one 308 at reasonable price.
