They chose a very difficult concept to express in a logo, but whoever designed it is a creative genius. The arena seats where the Penguins play still have the Vegas colors. So Pittsburgh donated a lot more to Vegas than Marc-Andre Fleury, James Neal and Ryan Reeves. The result of a survey during the Stanley Cup Final was that 75-80% of Pittsburgh was rooting for VGK to take the Cup, only partly due to Pens being trounced by Caps in the 2nd round of the playoffs.
All of the logos mentioned such as the Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers are associated with winning. They aren't viewed as great logos for what they are, they are great logos because those teams have many titles with those.
I am going to try and catch alot of Vegas games this season, will be hard though with the time differences since I liv ein Sweden but I am very excited!

The major fail is that Nevada is the "SILVER" state while California is the "GOLDEN" state. So the "Golden" aspect was not originally accepted by the locals, but winning has a way of changing minds.

Lastly, the league can’t force a team to move under any circumstance, teams have to see if they are allowed to relocate, but power for relocation is given to the owners of the team

VEGAS BABY!!" So yeah, it is called that by many.
