00:00 Tap settings
00:04 Tap about phone
00:08 Tap software information
00:11 Tap build number multiple times
00:14 Tap settings again
00:19 Tap Developers Options
00:23 Tap OEM unlocking
00:27 Tap Usb debugging
00:33 Turn off the phone
00:53 Connect cable to laptop
01:07 Hold Volume key's
01:13 Plugin USB-c cable
01:20 device unlock mode
01:24 Unlock bootloader?
01:40 Press volume up
01:46 Device Reboot
01:49 Bootloader Unlocked
If you see the warning on boot screen
'The phone bootloader is unlocked and its software integrity can't be verified...'
Bootloader is successfully unlocked.
Press Power key to Continue and just be patient for few more minutes.
Setup device Samsung Galaxy s21. If you go to Settings, you will see OEM unlocking is grayed out and you can no longer move the toggle.

Do you lose all your data and apps if you unlock the boot loader?....
How many other steps is needed after unlocking the boot loader for rooting?
I have a samsung... and I have gotten to the menu with volume up and down, I have yet dared to do anything from there.
I have made a full backup with Smart Switch although I do not know how much it actually would restore if the unlocking of the boot loader deletes everything.
Is there any way to root the phone without losing the data?

Yes maybe soon. It's actually just like flashing firmware, only difference is that you have to consider binary version of firmware
newer version android firmware you are not allowed to downgrade to a firmware which has a lower binary number than the currently installed one on your Galaxy Smartphone.
