The Way of St James | Episode 3 | Walking Stick (The Camino De Santiago)

Lets focus on the humanity of the disciples and more specifically James. We will highlight the fact that he was a very flawed individual but that he is on a journey with Jesus.
"My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God. The person who refuses to love doesn’t know the first thing about God, because God is love-so you can’t know him if you don’t love. This is how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son into the world so we might live through him. This is the kind of love we are talking about-not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they’ve done to our relationship with God." -- 1 John 4:7-10
Questions:
1. If you wrote your autobiography, are there parts of your story that you would leave out?
2. How does journeying with Jesus look different to life without him?
3. How can we love people like Jesus who sees and understands people's flaws, but doesn't let them change anything about how he loves?

I love this. It is such an important point about James' own personal transformation from someone who wanted to destroy others in reaction and disdain to love and self-sacrifice. I always find it fascinating in Spain that the two appropriations of James are as James the Moor-slayer and James the pilgrim. If James hadn't been changed by Jesus, he very well would have been the Moor-slayer. But the very reason we have a problem with this depiction of James in the first place is because he was actually changed by Jesus. His character was changed from the inside out.
