    I agree that it is one of the hardest flute pieces ---- but there are others more accomplished, such as the Introduction and Rondo Capriccio by Saint-Saens.
    Then there is the incredibly difficult piece by Katchaturian. Both Jasmine Choi and Denis play them. Worth listening to.

    I have wonder if this can be simplified down to just the main themes and omitting the non-essential fluff. If arrangers have simplified the Bach Chaconne, I don't see why this pretty piece can't be made more accessible for us normies to play for our own enjoyment.

    I agree. His interpretations tend to be extremely straightforward. However, his execution is always so impressive that many overlook that fact, including me lol. I'm going to experiment with my embochure on the side in a similar way to his. I've been striving to get an even darker tone on the low notes but I can't seem to get my embochure focused enough to get a "bite" in the sound

    @ryodoru That may be true, but most flutists don't have the brilliance of range that Bouriakov and Bennett have. Playing scales is easy enough, but maintaining such bravado of tone throughout all the registers of the flute is not easy, as evidenced by the overabundance of flutists who can't do so. I find this this performance straightforward yet inspired, facile yet solid.

  • @jimmillen4660
    @jimmillen4660 Před 11 lety +2

    I agree. Galway has made enough money with his b.s. "cross-over" pop music: "Annie's Song", etc. That's so he could sell a million albums to people who wouldn't know a flute if it bit them in the ####. Pahud is a Galway wannabe. Denis is the best flutist I've heard in the 35 years I've been a flute fan. I think he IS the best.
