I done the aame thing one day. Threw a big large mouth bass out as bait. Bout 14 inches. Had a 67 pound flat hezd grab it soon as it hit the water. I had just barely locked the bell. Literally jerked the pole out of my hand. Thought i was gonna be swimming for my rod. Lol. Have had a few do that over the years. Get fish feeding agressively in a spot. And you can have a fun day.
Another GREAT video!! I counted 7 Flatheads and 2 that splashed you in the face. I wish you could of had a couple 7 inch Bluegiles just to see if they hit them quick also, Those 2 on the drop was great!!!

Hey man love the cat fishing videos. Do you check your hooks to make sure they are still sharp? It seemed like a few were not hooked well in this video and got off free. No sir it's not to take it as a grain of salt you are right. I have heard from several other anglers that the sound wave from the sonar or the down imaging it does scare the fish away and it causes them not to eat. So you are making perfectly good sense when you are talking about turning it off and having better luck at catching fish with the sonar being turned off

29:58 when you do this, and you're short on bait, put the hook in its lips, like you normally do the head baits, but pull ut all the way through, and ho hook it in the back. You have a much greater chance of keeping the bait.

That was a helluva day! When I tapped onto the video and saw it was around 50 minutes, I figured we were in for a treat. Thanks for sharing all the pointers as well. I've wondered the same as you if the electronics could be causing some fish to leave or shut down on the bite. It seems like you may be onto something there Justin.

Another awesome video! Gotta love those bites when you're about to put it in the rod holder. 😂 Something I've noticed since I've switched hook placement on livebaits, I switched to nose hooking mainly and haven't had many issues with the hook doubling over. I also go on the top behind the dorsal fin on some things. Good luck on the next trip, sir! Hope to see ya on the water one day. 🎣

Justin I have always hooked my live bait threw the front of the eyes, they seem to stay a little more lively and my hook ups seem to increase.
Through the eyes. I hook my live baits the same way thwt Justin hooks his cut bait. Up through the nose holes. Cause 90.percent of catfish are gonna eat a bait head first.

Here in Oklahoma and in Texas, Flathead love live baits. I agree with you about those yellow bass. Very tough and underrated bait. They are good as live baits or cut baits

Catch yourself a few small channel cats. The cats you despise the most will catch you your pb flatty.
Use crappie nibbles on jigs. Nice fishing.
Carry a file with you, to downsize the lead, when the crapie aren't biting your bait. Sometimes, its just moving too fast

Cat fish are more sensitive to electricity than fish with scales. There barbles pick up other fish so it has to detect fish finders.
