It's amazing Roisin considers herself more a visual artist, and certainly she is...but her voice is so unbelievably good. She's by far one of my favourite artists. From her work with Moloko to her solo career to her collaborations. All top stuff.
Róisín is so lovely, real, and I could listen to her talk or sing infinitely. The "Sing It Back" moment was particularly sweet, I was never a big fan of her more commercial hits, but as an artist and the choices of her collaborators always were fascinating. Her new album is fucking brilliant. I'm exactly the same age as her and it's been a long time since an artist has made me feel and hear exactly what I needed to. Her album sounds great LOUD and even at high levels it manages to give me a sense of therapeutic calm. By no means am I comparing her to Annie Lennox, rather putting her in the same category as the videos thus far have the same vibrancy as the videos for Savage both women diplaying women on the verge and in Róisín's case, beyond past the verge and I'm loving every minute.
Indeed...I love Roisin too as well as Annie and your description really maches my own perpective of their work...I'm also from your generation and it's a bit sad that pop lost this kind of edge in the last few years!...
Age is not a issue with rosie at all because she still produces . What's around the years . Always . Not a artist like her madonna who give me a larf . She beats them down every time groove feeling vibe . You name it never let's you down on her motivation in music love her to bits xx
They keep talking about doubt, trepidation and fear of returning.. she needed a break to shake the mainstream out of her system and she got two kids out of her break, now she's in this wonderful creative place...it all worked out perfectly.
Oh Roisin! Don't ever worry that your fans will forget you. No one can replace you.
