    Great video. I own both Voyager 2 and Voyager 2 EX and have used them on several trekking/skiing expeditions in the arctic region. Both winter and summer. They withstand any weather. Comparable with Hilleberg Nallo and Nammatj GT. Robens even seem to have less condensation problem (but you should always refrain from cooking inside).
    Some tweaks:
    1) You appreciate the oversized bag in winter when wind and snow make it impossible to fold and roll the tent. Let one front stake remain or attach front to backpack. Grab the two rear stake loops, shake the guy lines into the middle of the fold and just start showing into the bag until you come to the front stake loop. Let it hang out, and you are immediately ready for next pitching. In winter it is all about speed and convenience. Tent poles and pegs is better keep separate, not to lose them in the snow when you pitch. It all will compress naturally anyway when you pack it in/on backpack.
    2) Remove guy line holders. Completely pointless feature that won't work in reality. Instead use that cord to replace the zipper toggles on fly sheet. The luminous part tend to come lose when you least expect it and you don't want that to happen on the exterior door in the middle of the night in the winter. ;-)
    3) Robens generous standard ventilation openings is to the advantage in the winter, because it reduce moist and condensation.
    4) Until 2018 Voyager 2 EX also had a rear door that was great for cooking in poor weather. I am sad to see it gone.
    5) 2 Extra drying lines is clear improvement.
    6) Previously Robens original stakes was old fashion sticks. I always replaced with Geertop Y-stakes (and a set of snow stakes)
    For these Roben tents are completely hassle free, they just keep on giving. Night after night. I think you will be very happy with it.

    Maff, liking this A LOT. Bloody huge tent buddy, but in the winter when you are inside in the dark for 12+ hours, having the space to spread out damp gear, cook and eat sitting up, is a massive bonus. Really will be interested in seeing the next operational use. Greets from grey and wet Wales, Dave G.

    I've got a Roben's Starlight 1 and very happy with it for the £120 I paid. Roben's seem to be well made and designed tents. I've just had a look at the stats for the Voyager and I'm very impressed by the wind stats. My low profile Starlight has a 160kmh average wind speed before the tent may begin to struggle - and yet your much larger tent has exactly the same average speed spec. That's pretty incredible.

    Alright Maff. Hope you’re keeping well. It’s a cracking tent and it’s difficult to recommend others in that price bracket. I’ve got the sil-nylon version of that one called the Robens Osprey 2EX. They’re cracking tents. Also got a Robens Starlight 2 and a Fjallraven Abisko Endurance 4 which is directly comparable to a Hilleberg. The Fjallraven is a cracking tent, and so it should be for the money, but the Robens are extremely dependable and amazing value for money. I’ve not tried the Osprey in bad wind yet although the Starlight shrugs it off. Can’t recommend Robens enough. All the best, Gordon.

    • @macmaster9840
      @macmaster9840 Před 3 lety

      Fully agree. Robens make some outstanding tents for the money. I have the Voyager 2 as one person winter tent. It has followed me on several winter expeditions in Arctic region. I also have the Voyager 2 EX as 3 season tent for trekking with child, or shorter expeditions with "close" friend. Unfortunately they have removed the exterior door on the Voyager 2 EX found until 2018 which is excellent for cooking in dreadful weather. (I never cooking in the tent because I don't like the condensation.) Several friends have Hillberg and they seem to have somewhat more problem with condensation.

Firstly its great because you can also use it directly under your main living space should you need to and adds another 10,000 HH to your living space. Or you can have it in front of you as shown in this video. But is it worth £30.00? no I don’t think so, £15.00 yes maybe. But a cheap 6 by 4 tarp will do the same for £6.00, ok it wont be 10.000 HH. regards Matt
