- In this video we install our water heater indoors so we no longer have to deal with the hot water on demands inconsistent temperatures. We also complete the basement bathroom at the farmhouse. If you are new here, we are living in the farmhouse until we complete our new homestead build at the cabin property.

On demand units work the best with two valve faucets that way your mixing the water at point of use.

Those on demand hot water heaters suck at maintaining temperature. I had the same problem, incoming water temp has to be near perfect to work. Well water from Vermont doesn't cut it!! LOL!!!🤣🤣
Hi guys , nice job of the bathroom wall, if I may make a suggestion, when you putty the joins and screw heads, if you use a spatula that is at least 4 inches wide, put plenty of putty, not sure of its name in Canada, on the spatula, move along the gaps by placing the spatula with the gap being in the middle of the face of it you will find that the joins will disappear , have less to sand and end up with a much nicer finish. Great video lots of progress going on. I was down past your place on the weekend my stepson had a hockey tournament in Quispamsis. I think I told you guys about getting divorced and selling my home I just built hopefully soon I will be able to start doing videos of our new to us home only thing I don't like is it is in town but it will do for now on the up side Home Hardware is right across the road. Keep the great videos coming.

I want to give you a pointer on the hot water heater. Make sure that t is full of water before you turn the breaker on because if you don't it will burn the heating elements up immediately. Just a tip

Nice job on the bathroom. A functional bathroom in the basement will be appreciated when you eventually sell the farmhouse plus its more convenient to come in through the basement door when you want to clean up after outside work. Too bad the tankless water heater didn't work out.

Great bathroom looks good
On demands ( water heater) can take some getting used to. What people don’t realize is that there is no hot water til the tap is turned on and the water in the line from the on demand to that faucet is all cold water. The hot water ramps quickly and it goes from cold to hot and scalding could be an issue for children and the elderly ( Ashley lol). Surprised that unit doesn’t have a “set temperature “ feature. Possibly this unit is not CSA approved for use in Canada. Sometimes happens with stuff we purchase on line. Bathroom looks much better, great job guys. 👍👍🇨🇦
We understand how it works, so no issue there. Wouldn't just go tearing things out if we didn't lol. And I thought I mentioned that you can set it in the video but maybe wasn't clear enough. But that still isn't any good if you can't regulate it in the shower itself very well. It is actually a good unit and we didn't purchase ours online but from a small store owner locally here in New Brunswick (who is awesome). We have been purchasing stuff there for years. The unit is a good unit, just not what we want for our setup :) And thanks! Have a great day Dan :)
@@MBFModernHomesteading maybe I misunderstood what you said about being able to set it at the unit. Just seems if you have it set at 120f at the tank it shouldn’t be able to be any more than that at the faucet. Either way the farmhouse bathroom looks good and the cabin is moving along nicely. Thats exactly what we had it set on, problem is 120 is what you get, it is damn near impossible to regulate it below that, that was the issue. Have a great week on your end too. @@danobrien3109

Finally!! The you're welcome jokes have returned; I was missing those. Seeing the wall 'tilt' explains why the casement door on the backside of the bathroom looked off kilter when you put up the primary wall when you started. You did good hiding the flaw. I'm thinking that keyhole saw bent when you cut the door out or did Ashley distract you when she crawled under with the hand slide 😅 seems next scene you lost your hat 😂or was there something else in that Gatorade bottle you were holding? --Jerry

How do you keep the cabin warm when your away? hope all is well,
We keep heaters on around 10 degrees Celsius. The well main line is also heat taped.

Are you sound proofing the bathroom?
If we finish it completely we will. The main thing was to have the walls up, sink, toilet, etc. It is in the basement so not much traffic down here, the walls save ya from getting caught with your pants down though if someone makes there way downstairs ;)
I'm confused, Farm House, Cabin. So you have two places on your property?
The farmhouse is not on the same property, we bought it to live in after selling our last homestead to live in while we build the new one up at the cabin property. We share all that here on the channel :)
