I remember watching the first episode of Batman Beyond as a kid and thinking "This kid's not Batman!" but by the end of the series I was completely sold on Terry McGuiness. He WAS Batman.

Yep, you're right. In most versions (not addressing the crossover from the 90s) DC Comics *do* exist in Marvel as that world's fictional superheroes. I can remember a Daredevil comic where he mentions "fictional characters, like Superman".

Eh, to me the Michael Keaton version is the most iconic and best. It really got the whole "I'm Batman" thing started. When Adam West said it, he was being genuinely informative and helpful (as was the case with the lighter and cheerier years of 60's Batman). When Keaton did it, he was trying to be cool and intimidating (and IMO, succeeded massively).

Bruce Wayne stood up amidst the panicking crowd, yelling at Two Face, "I'm Batman!" but to no response. Meanwhile, in its predecessor, Batman Returns, the line was changed as ,"he is Batman!". It was said by Selina Kyle after a confused Max Shreck asked Bruce, who was still in his Batsuit but had ripped off his mask, why he dressed up like Batman
