  • Like it or not, electric vehicles are gaining popularity and are here to stay, but what is the Super Soco CPX electric scooter all about. In this video I let you know what I like and what I don't like about the CPX, I hope you enjoy.

      I was never a fan, but can see myself getting a scooter at some point, maybe not an EV, but a classic old Vespa as a lot of appeal.

    I wanted an electric bike to commute on but couldn't justify the cost when you factor in the range and performance. For $8k, I ended up with a '18 GTS300 Vespa that will easily do 100kmh all while using around 2L/100km of fuel.

  • @checkyourfax

    Here scooters are limited at 45km/h and are allowed on many bicycle lanes. I tried this scooter and it's amazing at those speeds. Have to leave it in sports mode though because at 45 km/h all the other modes do is cause a decline in acceleration, but otherwise they all seem to have the same top speed due to the limiting. Uphill when it's limited at 45 km/h it keeps up to that speed 100% of the time. Also, with a dual battery, technically the scooter should be able to output way more power, because the battery will be able to output way more amperage (twice the amount) That's how electrical motors work. At a slight increase of wear it would be technically possible to tweak the ECU to make it better at climbing uphill, and reach higher top speeds. But for some reason Super Soco didn't decide to allow higher speeds. The wiring would possibly also need to be updated to prevent melting, depending on its quality.

    • @ferosofranek8817
      @ferosofranek8817 Před 2 lety +1

      only one battery can be discharged at the time - when it reach 20%, then automatically switch to other battery
      this type of scooter can't deliver significantly more power, because HUB motor design (fast overheating) and also because high battery current (with actual design, it deliver 4.8kW from only 2.7kWh battery)

    • @checkyourfax
      @checkyourfax Před 2 lety +1

      @@ferosofranek8817 thank you for the clarification. That does make sense. At 45 km/h its good enough. The hub design does make it easy to remove and repair. Can signicantly reduce cost of maintenance

    • @checkyourfax
      @checkyourfax Před 2 lety +1

      @@ferosofranek8817 Hmmm there's a video of a guy who hacked the battery controller so it uses both batteries at the same time. At that point it SHOULD be possible to get more power out of the engine by tweaking the ECU, but like you said, overheating would likely be a tremendous problem.

    For The Netherlands, where almost everything is flat, this thing is amazing.

  • @whatsstefon
    @whatsstefon Před 2 lety +1

    It definitely works in the right environment, inner city runabout. I think anywhere outside of that the limitations of poor uphill performance (which I’m amazed and shocked at) will not help for anything outside of a built up area, as you’ll either meet some hills or high speed country roads.
    The removable battery is great, unfortunately at the cost of space. Which is always a trade off. Proprietary batteries can be made into custom shapes that could help with storage.
