- Can you do Bora Bora on a budget, absolutely yes! If you can stay away from the over the water bungalow trap and do a Guesthouse (Pension) stay and immerse yourself in Tahitian culture. Going in the shoulder off season of late October early November is the perfect time to go to Bora Bora and all of French Polynesia. It's a direct flight from LAX and only an 8 hour flight into Papeete, from there your can take an inter island flight or a ferry.
This was a the most amazing experience, and this will be hard to beat. We do plan on doing French Polynesia again someday going to different islands, there are over 118 islands in French Polynesia!
