I work at a sporting goods store and know practically nothing about fishing and I just discovered this channel and they've already taught me more about actual fishing vs. my work training. shoutout to KickingTheirBassTV just earned a sub
I spooled it with 8 LB test mono for lighter lures, gave it some practice casts and found that it did cast well czcams.com/users/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e , except that the anti-backlash setting had to be turned up almost all of the way to keep the "overcasts' ' down. I disassembled it, and found that if I potted some "shim washers" behind that anti-backlash magnet assembly, it got the magnets closer to the spool without rubbing, and I could get better control with about a 6 to 7 out out 10-Max setting. I also noticed that the handle shaft had some internal end play, maybe only 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, but it's still noticeable. If the anti-backlash and shaft tolerances were "tightened up" this would be a fantastic value. I've only used it for 4 days of fishing in a month's time, but I plan on keeping it.
I like these series alot, really shows what skill can do with a lower end setup. Love watching both of you fish in these ponds, pulling in surprise fish.
I haven't found a good place to go around me, here in Michigan. I can hammer tiny bluegill all day where I have been going, and I mean tiny, but any 5 year old can do the same. Any sort of open ponds or piers is pretty much nonexistent.
Keep grinding away at those fish, watch the gators...lol

A Zebco 33. My dad bought me one of those when I was around 5, 6 or 7 sometime in the mid-1960's. I have many fond memories of fishing with Dad and my brothers with that reel. Didn't know it was still bring made today. It is truly a classic!

Walmart had some decent combos this spring. Several Lews Xfinity combos for under 100. Including a 6ft 10in baitcaster that as become my senko rod for fishing in tight quarters.

Zebco's are just easymode, and also cheap baitcasters. I've seen crazy casts on a Zebco with the right rod. Honestly that's a combo you could use for life lol

I see that you’re using the Mixtoplix Method, this method has been thoroughly tested by myself and others. Spindle life is increased by multiple seasons for me and many others. We have disassembled spindles after multiple uses and multiple seasons after following this method and it works extremely well.
Some people say that no water will get past the inner seals...that's not accurate. Some will, but not enough to keep the spindle moving the way they should be. Ideally, the new water will push into the weep hole which prevents building too much pressure and dislodging the outer seals.
My suggestion would be to tap the weep hole and put a small screw in it!

No joke, don't sleep on the little gulp worms.
Get a super downsized dropshot, pair it with a crappie nibble for more scent and to add some color. Drag it through pretty open water and it's smallie candy. Only downside is you'll get bites from more than just bass but on some light tackle it'll be fun all the same and then even a 1 lber will make your drag sing

If it’s the xfinity pro rod not the regular xfinity they do sell it as just the rod for the same price as the regular combo non “pro” model. Like 90 bucks. They actually have a MH fast and Heavy which is cool for Walmart
