We used to live in thiruvanmiyur. There is a statue of Sri Appayya dikshithar (near the chandikeswarar sannidhi) in the praharam of Sri marundheeswarar sannidhi.
Sri Marundheeswarar faces west direction as against east. We were told by the gurukkal, that Lord Marundheeswarar turned west , to give Darshan to Sri Appaya Dikshithar who was living in velachery

Very significant one with the descendant of Sri Sri Appaya Dikshitar!!Sri Sri Mahaperiyava had taken earnest efforts to find the period of Avataram of Sri Sankara Bhagavatgpadaal thro Carbon dating technology! It was estimated and established by Sri Mahaperiyava to be 2500 years ago ! But historians date His origin in 788 A.D.! By various proven sources, it should be around 2500 years ago, we can say! Sri Mahaperiyava Saranam!
Namaskaram no doubt on the date of Acharya Bagawathpadal he was very much in the period of 507 BCE which was 2500 yrs back. The 8th century reference maybe referred based on multiple calendars for example Gregorian and indian calendars dont sync up so easily and we need to somehow find a way to bring out the right representation of his date. I suggest you look at a hindi video in the channel Sangam talks who present a very detailed picture on his dating. My mobile number is 9880404014. We can discuss further. Very nice effort for showcasing the greatness of Appaya Dikshithar. One small correction - as per Swami Sivananda's biography Dikshithar used 17 horses for soma yagna and they attained moksha. Swami Sivananda belongs to Appaya Dikshithar lineage..

Namaskaram am willing to offer you certain details. There are many calendars in India as well as western philosophy. Before concluding we all should understand and then question. 8th century may have several different angles. I will find out for you and clarify

It was a genuine mistake by the speaker who later clarified that the period of Adi Sankara is 5th century BC. To be precise 477 BC -508 BC. Since video editing after uploading as a policy is not preferred, the speaker has asked this to be supplemented by way of correction.
