  • Video of one of the first dives on a presently unidentified 300-tonne Japanese Navy tug and floating electricity generator located off Weno (wartime Moen) by Truk Stop Dive Centre a couple of months ago. Very lucky to have been taken there by Truk Stop - and presently hard at work scouring my archive resources to get an ID

Truk Stop dive centre found her, not me. They were very kind to take me on it, 2nd time it had been dived I believe and they were keen to get an ID on it.

@@rodmacdonald6396 Good one! I imagine there are a few like her left out there, waiting to be found. My experience/ group impression on a couple of deep wreck ccr trips was the locals were not really interested or encouraged to discover new sites. Hope I was wrong.

Hi Rod! Have you made any progress in ID'ing this wreck?

Hi - I haven’t been back to Truk since I shot that footage due to the pandemic - so no more progress made. I did get the kanji on the switching board makers plate translated, so I know that it was made by Kawasaki but that doesn’t take us very far. I’m going to give all the info I have and put a photo of the plate in the 2nd edition of Dive Truk Lagoon that will publish toward the end of this year. Then hopefully someone likeminded will take it on further and get an ID. All the best from Scotland. Rod

@@rodmacdonald6396 Hey Rod, Hi again from Aus - helpful this may be or not - if you have any Kanji you been assistance with let me know. I do have a little experience with the language - rusty now but may be able to assist with Kanji.

How does a Buddweiser can get into the engine?!

Product placement deals... They paid good money for me to sneak it down into the engine room.

A casual toss overboard from a passing vessel that was a direct hit down the hatch I suspect!

@@jimsloane3118 It was luck. There were other cans on the wreck as well. Budlight, Milwalkee, even a few glass bottles from a Philippine Rum company. None were planted. I was being sarcastic.
