      You, I can appreciate. I can see why people feel the way this video is about. However I don't mind that they try to sell out as I still love their material they bring, I don't mind that everything sounds the same as that can also give the band a very clear and specific image (look at Breaking Benjamin), However I wish that Jared's ego was just a little less. But still, I love the band and I respect others opinion about it. Cheers.

    I don't HATE the band, but I can't stand the way they carry themselves and I don't care for their new pop/alternative rock sound. While A Beautiful Lie was definitely a move towards a more "mainstream" sound, it still had the atmospheric edge that gave the songs on their self-titled record passion and personality. After that record nothing really caught my ear as being very uniquely their own sound.

    They formed as a band in 1998 and released their first studio album in 2002. It's 2018. Of course the music is going to change. A lot of people don't like the direction they've gone in; I personally do. Jared has changed a lot in 20 years, so the kind of music he makes has changed. People evolve and grow; so does their art. I personally think each album has its own unique sound and theme, which makes each one special for a different reason. I've seen them live multiple times and the energy is just amazing. They always put on a hell of a show. I'll be a proud Mars fan for life. :)

      Jared does have the 'lefty pretentious vibe' going on but then again most vegan's have that Plus excellent skin care. My views are the green monster of others and sometimes Jared can misjudge his audience and think they will share his world viewpoint. In short Jared is awesome but only if you share his world view. Which is pretty neat if you do! You would not understand.

    I became part of the echelon during the This Is War era. Their songs were all about dreaming, believing in yourself and fighting for your dreams. All members had an input in the band's direction and had the opportunity to show their talent. It wasnt the jared leto band. It was 30stm. They partnered with some website to stream live but you had to pay for it...while other people were streaming for free jared decided his streams needed to be HQ and thus have us pay (dont know what became of that). And though we got an insight into how they make songs from that stream (i was blown away by how organic their writing and producing process still was, making me fall in love with them more) I started to realise jared hyped everything up. He made a scene, made you believe you were part of something great, the music he was producing was life changing, when in reality...both albums after this is war sucked. I loved that man and that band from 2009 but I have to say....jared leto has characteristics of a sociopath...a true jim jones cult leader type of charisma about him. I loved his weirdness but sometimes he crosses the line.

    I absolutely second the statement about the meet'n'greets. I payed 400 dollars just to have a picutre taken with them! And Jared was so...just as you described him...something better and he let us feel exactly that. Plus, Shannon wasn't even with them at the time. I really felt like I had just thrown my money out the window. All I got was some random goodie bag and a digital picture - for 400 dollars! And as for the cult part....I would really go as far as calling it a cult. Have you ever met "the Echelon"? Have you ever been confronted with the question as to what the Argus Apocraphex is? No? I've been there and it almost drove me insane. Maybe I was just sensitive, but it definiteley had a cult-like vibe to it. It was scary at times. The fan bases I'm in now are comepletely different from that. Maybe I just met the wrong people back then, but I'm so happy I got out of there. =/

      I love 30stm but never quite understood Jared. He does seem like he tries hard to appear a certain way and there are of course all the negative rumors about him but there are no proof for any of them... When I saw 30stm live he made a lot of sexual jokes while there were indeed children in the audience although their native language was most likely not english anyway, but still. I don't know if he's just trying to come off a certain way or if he's just kind of awkward and odd so he makes up for it with acting overly confident sometimes. After all lots of creative people are odd.

      panic en la disco It comes from gossip, jealousy, and people not understanding that just being yourself is never a bad thing, and being confident is never a bad thing. Some people interpret that as "ego", when in fact it is just confidence, yes, he can be a little awkward sometimes, he tours the world, comes across millions of fans, and works his ass off, that can cause a person to sometimes be a little tired and awkward. I would love to see some of the people with negative comments about him do what he does in just ONE DAY, and see how it works out for them. 😊✌🏻

    I've been listening to them for the past 10 years and I do agree with all of this. The thing I hate the most is their lack of professionalism. They spend years creating an album and then it's no big deal. Like this album for instance. It will be released next month and the final recordings were just sent to the label days ago. I would not be surprised if it was postponed at some point because Jared is a "perfectionist". Yes he has a lot on his plate but so do others.

    I think you're all crazy. They are one of my favorite bands! I love all their albums and listen to them all the time. I heard Walk on Water and looked up the band, and quickly listened to and loved each album. I found I had discovered a new favorite band. I only learned that Jared Leto was in the band on an awards show. I watched him in My So-Called Life as a teen and when the show ended I didn't hear about him anymore. Yes, I am a fan of the band for sure, but not because Jared the actor is in it. I love the music, the lyrics, the message, the energy. I think you have to be a certain kind of person to appreciate what 30STM does. I see and hear passionate artists sharing their perspectives on the world through visual and musical art. Some of my favorite songs are Closer to the Edge, Kings and Queens, Budda for Mary, A Beautiful Lie, Rescue Me, City of Angels just to name a few. How do you not get how deep their lyrics are. They give hope, inspiration, and comfort to so many who "get" what 30STM is saying. I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't see what we fans see in this band, and don't get what we are getting from the music. It's your loss.😔

Then after hearing the beautiful speech Jared made about Chester Bennington's death I kinda went back to following 30stm. Now I've got tickets to their two upcoming shows and I'm obsessed again. You’re guessing about a skin care routine - he said he only uses water & his mother’s skin looks young and beautiful. When did Jared ever go around telling people he’s talented? And I’ve never heard him say his ideas, movies or everything he’s involved with are the best or gold. He’s said many times how many failures he’s had. I doubt he thinks he’s too good for meet & greets but is probably sometimes tired, moody or reacting to comments. Their music doesn’t all sound the same & I listen to most of it. I also I don’t like it when Jared wants everyone to get down so they can jump up. And Jared had to be tough cuz actors AND musicians didn't accept him as either. Moms? I really like their first albums, but as the music became more and more blushed out the live shows were made for teens who dont care about music experience but more about seeing their favourite crush. Olivia Tornes They organized Carnivores Tour with Linkin Park, because LP had not toured in awhile, which is why they were the headlining band, and not 30STM, who had already done a full US and International headlining tour the year before Carnivores, the point was for the focus to be on LP, anyone who doesn't know that clearly was not paying attention when they announced the tour.

I saw them live in 2014 and it was odd to me because Jared spent all the time in the ''runway'' part of the stage getting all the attention while the rest of the band was waaaaaay in the back and you couldn't even see them. Plus, in a moment he took his poncho off (yes he was wearing a poncho) and threw a bottle of water over his naked body and people went INSANE. And I mean, yes he's really hot but I went to see 30STM not Jared Leto and some other dudes playing in the backround. He isn't doing as many drugs as he did as his early days and that's why the music doesn't sound the same. I really enjoyed this review and the comments thus far. About their music-every musician/band grows over time with their age and experiences and so does their music. They retain the same style, but typically their music evolves. As an Echelon, I enjoy most of the music. The first two songs of the current album about to be released, America, did rub me the wrong way and I was disappointed. Then I heard “One Track Mind” and loved it. Still not their old style, but it was redeeming.
    While I have have never met the the band, I have been blocked from Jared’s Instagram. When he posted a shirtless pic of himself from his early 30’s and simply said something like, ‘caption this’, I said “Egotistical, narcissistic, needy and lonely.” Sorry, I’m a therapist and a lemming. The more interesting thing for me was the hatred I received from the other fans admonishing me for saying such things about their god-er-Jared. One said I shouldn’t be allowed to be an Echelon and others called me names. I asked them if 1.Jared would support the way they were behaving (no) 2. Did I not have a right to my opinion (yes) 3. Was he not being exactly as I was saying because he was sitting somewhere posting a pic of himself from a decade earlier asking his adoring followers to “caption this” knowing they would say nothing but ego-boosting and loving comments!!!?? Sending him love and adoration for him to bask in at that very moment? And as he was watching the feed he came across MY comment and BAM! WHAT?! A negative COMMENT!? I am sure he was in disbelief. Then he blocked me. But 4. WERE THEY MAD BECAUSE HE SAW ME/REACTED TO ME and not them...Now I ask you to tell me that he is not egocentric.
    In his defense (a little) at the VIP meet and greets the band does see hundreds of people each week. How would you feel if that was you? But they knew what they were signing up for. I am a 49 year old mother of a 27 year old successful child who mocks my love of 30STM music and small crush on SHANNON Leto. I definitely don’t think Shannon or Tomo don’t get enough credit. Their music, one song in particular, was important to to me at a turning point in my life. It might have even saved it. So for that I am grateful. Do or die people. Do. Or. Die.
    Has anyone seen their film Artifact? I thought it was a very interesting look inside he record industry and I learned a lot from it. It was very well and does a little insight into why they are the way they are.
    Final comment. I saw 30STM with MUSE last summer. I was one of the few Echelon fans in the crowd. I made my presence known to my fellow concert-goers and warned them I would geek out when the band came out and I delivered. At the beginning of the show he crowd was definitely Muse fans. Jared had hurt his leg at the previous show and has a cane. He was dressed in a hideous outfit and Shannon looked glorious and Tomo was his awesome, rocking self. It was hotter than hell. Complaint-I don’t ever want to pay to hear the crowd sing The Kill to and acoustic guitar again. EVER. Or a wa-hoo-oh! CREDIT- By the end of the 30STM set, Jared had the ENTIRE crowd whipped into a frenzy, singing along, with him at the back of the arena, he cane tossed halfway through the show, while the roadies quietly set up for Muse. No one noticed but me I think. So I have to give the man credit. He is an excellent showman. He does his job supremely well. He has the crowd singing, cheering, competing for loudness; and at the end, a huge send off. Muse was poised and ready to play allowing for a seamless transition and an extended concert experience, at least in my mind. So before you judge the man for doing his job, watch him actually DO HIS JOB. Then compare him to every other egocentric lead singer that was famous when there wasn’t social media to exploit their eccentricity. I am sure you can think of a few.

This is a band where you need an open mind about the music, they grow and change each album, if you only like one album only listen to that album you don’t have to like everything of a band to enjoy them...

    I just have to roll my eyes when people say any artist "sells out" and makes their music mainstream for money. Im sure sometimes that happens, but the vast majority of the time it's the record labels that demand that. Everyone should know by now how money-hungry music producers are. That's why more often than not if an artist switches to a different label, their sound changes. Common sense people, use it.

    You were on point about their concert. I was super excited to see them live, but they started an hour late and had the crowd sing so much of the songs. I can sing along in my car. I go to concerts to hear the bands play and sing. Worst part is that they only played for a little over an hour. I decided I would not waste my money on them any more. I think they are talented, but don't truly appreciate the fans.

    The mom point in particular cracked me up because my friend's mom has been stanning Jared Leto since he was on My So-Called Life, so she's basically grown up alongside him. I think that's why so much of the fanbase are around the same age as the band members themselves haha

I was the last one left inside a theatre after winning tickets for a screening for his Huracane video and I asked him if I could get a picture. He looked at me and called his security guard and told him something. As the security guard started walking towards me Jarod walked away and the guard told me to exit the theatre. I was dissapointed because I was being polite and respectful and he could have easily said. No sorry and didn't have to send anyone. Also.. why not take a picture with someone that won tickets from them? You would think they would want to treat their fans good.

    30 Seconds to Mars were my first favourite band. I played them so much in high school, and my favourite album is This Is War. It came out in the last year of school, so it makes me think of a very happy but also quite sad time in life - it reminds me of the last few months where all my friends were together. I am still a fan, and I'm going to see them at the end of this week, but I'm not quite so fanatical as I used to be. The new stuff's ok, and I'll put it on if I want something to relax to, but my favourites were the first three albums. :)

  • @charlottewilliams1707

    So funny thing about the Mom thing. My mother had no idea who Jared Leto was, kinda forgot about him whenever I mentioned him bc I used to like 30stm, and Suicide Squad (and Leto’s antics by extension) was everywhere when I was in high school. I also watched this vid a few years ago bc I was only a casual listener and wanted to get a general idea of what more ingrained fans thought. The point about middle-aged mothers gravitating to this band and Leto was especially interesting bc I could kinda see it happening.
    Then mom saw the Morbius commercial for the first time and said something along the lines of, “maybe we should watch the movie with the hot guy.” When I figured out who and what she was referencing, my immediate thought was “holy shit, Jared Leto really is mom-nip.”

    This episode was very interesting, a good one. I personally do like music by 30STM and one time I was really into this band so I decided to join the echelon facebook groups etc. but I couldn't stand it, as any fandom really, everyone was obsessed about the frontman and sexualizing everything, I was there because of the music but not everyone was there because of that. And I can see a bit why people call it cult, even though I myself also wouldn't go that far to call it that, but with those camps and their image, it seems like it a little bit. But I still like to listen to them and I'm excited for their new material.

    I think these are fair opinions, especially the ones about Jared’s ego and a lack of stage presence when on tour. I personally don’t think that all the songs sound the same and I was a fan of their last 2 albums. Obviously they don’t come close to a beautiful lie, but they’re not the worst records to label themselves as rock albums. I love when Jared unleashes on songs but I think it is fair to say that he’s been kind of being complacent with the vocals as of recent (post-a beautiful lie). Still, I’ve remained a fan and I find lots of high points in each record. Kind of hoping the new record isn’t pure trash and has more good than bad. Not too optimistic based off of the first two songs, though.

    Hey, hello. I hope you read this. For This is war album, the reason it sounded different, a departure from the first 2, was because they were going through getting sue by their record label at the time. Emotions were high, that’s around the time I started to listen to them. I consider myself an echelon thru and thru. I watch your videos and love this band. But for sure you pointed out some real issues with the band. Yes, it’s a cult. Jared does have an ego, he’s also a control freak. But I’ve met them twice. At the this is war tour and carnivores tour. At meet and greets he’s actually super cool, the whole band is. But I feel that a lot of ppl harass him and may encounter a meaner side of him. I find their live shows to be fun, fan base is super tight. Seen them live 5-6 times. Their sound is going in a direction that I don’t like. It feels too main stream. I enjoyed love lust faith dreams, but you’re right it’s been style over substance for sure with these guys sadly. I still don’t regret my mars tattoo or that I wear my triad all the time. I might catch them on this monolith tour. I have found myself listening to them a lot less, but I know even if I’m listening to other bands, they will still be in my heart. Cheers

This time around there was no support band as advertised, Letto bounced around the stage whilst the crowd did most of the singing, and when he did sing it wasn't clear, more a mumble with a few lyrics thrown in for good measure. And if you think that the very first album isn't rock in any way, you clearly don't know what rock is or haven't heard the album. Yes, Jared uses his acting talents when they do concept music videos, who wouldn't? BVB did for Wretched and Divine. And Jared is also the mastermind behind the videos. They have deeper meanings. So it’s not only from middle aged. I’ve been a fan since 2015 and what I’ve experienced is unique. The Echelon (their ‘fan base’) is more than a fan base, a family is a better way to say it. The more people I’ve got to know the more I’ve fallen in love with the band, the cult and all. The reason why I love them is that their songs have messages, they touch hearts and saves lives thorugh them. Believe me, they’ve saved mine. What I’m trying to say is that people shouldn’t HATE them. They don’t have to love them, but you can only say that you hate them if you’ve got a proper reason for it. And you don’t. About Jared. I have no idea what to make my username Well, I became a fan when they started back when I was a teenager, so a person can't continue to be a fan of a band and their music as they get older? I'm not a mom, but I am 32, and it is not because of their looks, I'm talking about the MUSIC, so please enlighten me, I wasn't aware that people had to stop being a fan of certain bands as they get older. I have been a fan of the Foo Fighters since I was a kid, and I still am, same with Linkin Park, Garbage, The Pixies, New Found Glory, Otep, truly, I could name every band that I became a fan of when I was a kid, so how is that any different just because some women like them for their looks, and not just Jared, but also Shannon, and Tomo, does not mean all of us are fans for that reason, and staying a fan as you get older is in no way a bad thing, or weird. Music is music and the fans are fans, period, end of story, if you don't like them, don't listen to them. Why spread hate and gossip for absolutely no reason? If you aren't a true music fan, spend your time doing something else, it's that easy.

  • @whitesaltphotography7494

    I can see what you are saying and I get how some people think that way. I have been a fan of the band for 15 years. I have been to 3 concerts over that time and I find they were brilliant each time. Jared is an amazing performer and knows how to work a crowd. I met him when they were signing things after the show and he was very chatty and friendly to me. I think 'acting' over confident is usually a sign of not being all that confident at all and want to hide that. Putting yourself out as an artist and get a lot of hate and love can be surely very intense. The sound has change a lot over the years, I agree. You either love it or hate it I guess. I prefer they older stuff myself but I still love the new sound. At least it doesn't get boring. And the next point you brought up with all sounding the same kind of contradicts the previous comment. Anyway. I am a mom and a fan. And since I have been a fan for 15 years I obviously can't be 15 now. Jared isn't that young himself. So I guess long term fans or always at least middle aged. I don't know what is wrong with that. As if mum aren't humans or something. We all get older. I see Jared as a very hard working ,committed artist that puts a lot of effort and time into communicating with 'fan's' and I think its really admirable. If you love or hate a band is really personal preference.

    Sadly I am one of those past middle age mom's that does like this band and I have followed them since around 2003. I have seen them twice now, the O2 London on Tuesday evening and in Birmingham in 2013 for the Love Lust Faith tour which I confess I enjoyed more, especially the acoustic set as this is how he writes the songs.On Tuesday evening the doors of the O2 opened at 18:30, previous concerts seemed to have Mars on stage around 20:00 so we arrived around 19:30ish ready for crowds. Having found out seats we were then stuck with a DJ playing his choice of music really loudly until Mars arrived on stage at 21:10. The DJ ended up playing the Mars intro video before they even appeared. Our platinum tickets meant we paid the Leto brothers £200 an hour to entertain us!

    I actually saw 30 Seconds to Mars in concert at the Anaheim House of Blues WAY back in 2003 when their first album was still pretty new. That probably sounds like a hipster "I liked them before they were cool" claim, but I didn't like them at all then, and I have not liked them at any point since then. They were the opening band on Chevelle's tour for Wonder What's Next, and all I really remember about their performance is that Jared Leto seemed downright pissed that the crowd wasn't really into them, to the point where he cursed at fans up in the balcony (who had actual tables to sit at because they were eating dinner), for not standing up and participating in whatever he was trying to get the crowd to do. He asked them if they thought they were at a f*ckin' Celine Dion concert. Admittedly that was kinda funny. But any band that puts that much emphasis on getting a crowd to participate, when the music itself isn't doing the job, is going to wind up on my shitlist real fast. This ain't preschool, I don't have to do your corny song and dance if I don't feel like it. The crowd-shaming is even more irritating when it's coming from an opening band, and not the headliner most of the crowd actually showed up to see. (For the record, the guys in Chevelle seemed to appreciate us, and mostly let their music do the talking. See, Jared? It's really not that hard.)
    I forgot about 30STM until "Closer to the Edge" made the rounds as a single in 2010-11. Thought it was pretty catchy. Checked out the album "This Is War" and thought it was trying WAY too hard to bludgeon big hooks into my brain without the instrumental or lyrical talent to support it. I haven't bothered with the band since then. I'm 40, which is apparently the exact right age for a 30STM fan, but I'm immune to Jared's boyish good looks, so maybe that's the part I'm missing?

  • @KurtleTheTurtle907
    @KurtleTheTurtle907 Před 6 lety +8

    Another thing is over the course of this past decade, they've more and more distanced themselves from their first two albums, only ever acknowledging them when cornered in an interview (directly asked), or when they seldom play an old song as acoustic. They even ask fans in the crowd "what do you wanna hear?" and you'll hear audiences in videos of them live scream "Echelon! From Yesterday! etc", and Jared ignores it like, "nah, I've already decided what I'm going to play, Idk why I even asked you all, lol". I made myself sound like a care about this point more than I actually do, it's just interesting to me is all, lol.

      @KurtleTheTurtle907 Před 6 lety +3

      This wasn't meant to be taken as an attack. I have a clue what I'm talking about because I watch a lot of their full concerts on YT, and it seems to be the case. It's also a widely discussed topic online about them, some have theorized they're embarrassed to play their old material, that Jared can't sing them anymore, or that this is part of their old lawsuit settlement. If they're finally bringing back old songs on their 2018 tour, that's terrific!

    • @kweenofnoize2145
      @kweenofnoize2145 Před 6 lety

      Kurt Simmons The key word you used is "theorized"...Do you know why Kurt Cobain hated playing "Smells Like Teen Spirit"? Well, when you play a song 1000s of times, and as an artist want to present a new form of art, it can get pretty monotonous, even if they truly do love their older songs. The band tours ALOT, and they can change, bands and musicians shouldn't have to fit into one label, music is art, and art changes as a person or people change. They have been doing more of their older songs live, but they shouldn't HAVE to do anything just to please people, this is why they are conflicted about even doing anymore albums, because they get so much backlash for trying new things, since when did that become a bad thing? I love all genres of music, so I don't need anyone music to be one way or another for me to love the music, that's just my opinion.

    • @KurtleTheTurtle907
      @KurtleTheTurtle907 Před 6 lety +3

      Oh hey, I've missed you! And the "overplaying songs to the point of them becoming monotonous" is certainly another good point. But then why are they still playing Closer to the Edge, Up In the Air, Kings and Queens, Do or Die, etc every show for the last forever years? They haven't gotten sick of those ones, though? And the songs people are talking about them not playing are songs they haven't played regularly since 2008, those songs are probably safe to come back now if the band was tired of playing them for a while.
      I dunno, I'm not one of those fans that's stuck in the past like a good portion are, I was just making an argument case FOR that crowd in my initial post since this is "5 Reasons People Hate 30STM", and some of the points I made are my own as well. They can play whatever, I just like to read what people are thinking as to WHY they play only certain things. It was cool to hear your side, too.

    I love 30 seconds to mars. But I do agree with EVERYTHING on this list! Lol! I am very weird, so mabe that's why I love Jared Leto so much. Back in 2009, with their album This is War, I thought about few of their songs to be boring because of the repetivity of the songs being very similar to one another. For example, I really disliked Hurricane in 2009, but it hit home in 2016. These songs are meant to be heard when you are at a certain point of your life and not before. They have deep meaning, more than you think. Talking about world issues, division in people and religion... these are things Jared adresses and for sure he'll have a back lash of hate for giving his opinion. So no wonder he is so rude. At a certain point of your life, you stop trying to impress people, celebrity or not.
    I saw them live twice and never had the actual proof that Jared can sing live (except on Instagram). The first time in 2013 made me quit listening to them for 3 years, then the 2nd time in 2017, I didn't even noticed. I was singing too loud to even hear him! lol.
    I do think however that it's the key to success to be this egocentric, because wanting to be famous IS egocentric in itself. I like how involved he is in the present with politics and with the opinions of his fans. If he comes off rude, sorry if this is rude, but there are so much BS people out there that I can't blame him. Fans are so demanding so you need to distance yourself from them. For the mom part... he is 46 years old. So it's normal he attracts people more of his age. Even if I am 25 and mesmerized by him. Anyway, these are all facts about this band. But he meaning behing it matters the most

Only Remedy has some feelings in it. Although I am very grateful to 30STM, because of them I met a lot of friends and 6 years ago, I met one of my best friend-she was from Echelon too. I also had opportunity to meet Tomo on the street and went on coffee with him. He is simply nice guy. I was so disappointed to know that he quite the band. Something went wrong since 30STM is very important for him. As for Jared, I met him once 4 years ago. He was so tired, but still he gave autographs. I went to their concert 5 month ago and they were late for 1 hour. The energy on the concert isn't the same and new album is primitive. Jared was acting like the King on the show, trying to force fans to sing his new songs that they actually didn't know so well. It seems like his image is more important for him that actually music. Kayleigh Brown Yes, because this video is full of gossip and not actual truth. Watch the documentary and it should shed some light on the point I'm trying to make....which is that this person shouldn't make assumptions about things they don't actually know, but just what they've heard. It's very clear they know nothing TRUE about this band or any of the members in it, or how hard they've worked for their creative freedom. Whether this person, or anyone, likes their music or not, they should at least have respect for the fact that this band took a huge risk exposing the music industry/record labels, and how they screw bands and musicians. Unfortunately, this person didn't actually do any research and just made assumptions based on what they've heard from childish gossip. It's just an unnecessary video made to get views, using gossip, which is unfortunate, but it's what most people prefer, because they love drama and lies over kindness and truth. Negativity just breeds more negativity and we have more than enough of that in this world already. Just because I may not like a band or musician's music doesn't mean I would say anything bad about them, especially when it's so far from the truth, it's just basic human decency. 💜✌🏻

    • @kayleighbrown459
      @kayleighbrown459 Před 6 lety +2

      Well that's cool and all but it doesn't really have much of anything to do with half the points made in this vid, does it? Like, ok. They made it so the record companies couldn't screw over their talent. That's awesome, but hypothetically speaking, it doesn't really change them being pretentious or putting style over substance or having all their music sound the same. Whether any of that's true is a different matter, but if it is, the fact that they did all the awesome stuff doesn't counteract it.
      Negative points aren't automatically erased by the presence of separate positive ones.

    • @kweenofnoize2145
      @kweenofnoize2145 Před 6 lety

      Kayleigh Brown I addressed the other ridiculous points made in this video in other comments, and don't have the time to go through every point again, but if you scroll through, they are there, this was just one point I was making. The point is, this was fueled only by hate, instead of using "sources" like gossip forums, he should have used actual facts, and talked to fans, and fans that may not like their music anymore, to balance it out a bit, but to go solely off of rumor, rumor sites and forums, and only the negative opinions when there are far more positive views and opinions to also take into consideration is one sided and uneducated. If someone is going to do negative videos just to get views, I just don't get it, I'm sorry, I believe in positivity and at the very least a balance of good points and bad points, and that is not displayed in this video. The worst part is the positive far outweighs the negative of people who are just close minded to different types of music, rock is not the only genre, and I'm not sure why any band has to label their sound, it's art, people change, music changes, art changes, how is that a bad thing? If everything just stays the same all the time that would be terribly boring. As far as the "pretentious" nonsense, it's called having confidence. Sorry if that upsets people that some people actually have confidence, although he does tend to be shy and reserved alot, understandable when you encounter so many people and tour for so long, it's exhausting. I did address that point further in another comment as well, so again. This was one point I made, feel free to scroll through and read my many others, but it seems like a waste of time, because it's clear that this video is completely one sided, and based on alot of rumor, as opposed to FACTS, it would be much easier to just actually follow some of the many wonderful things the band does, beyond how amazing they are with their fans, you can see very clearly that this young man does not know the difference between pretentious and confident, positive, and outgoing. 💜✌🏻

    Well I am a fan of 30 seconds to mars and I have to say that I do see the points you/ the internet is making and I liked that you stayed fair and wanted to know the fandoms opinion. It’s interesting to read the comments about how people liked the first 3 albums but then started to loose interest because it got too pop/ mainstream etc.
    For me the first 3 albums were pretty cool and have some big emotional value. With the newer stuff it’s a hit and miss with me because I still do and always liked their creative/ visual approach to their content and as a film student I do have to say their music videos are amazing. Music wise I get that people are disappointed but people are changing and so is the band and if they change their sound it doesn’t mean they immediately suck but they just don’t fit in the old category anymore => they loose some fans but they also win some, simple as that. It’s up to everyone’s personal taste.
    I don’t know about Jareds Ego in general but I do agree that he had a weird / distant phase especially during the love lust faith dreams tour and a lot of fans were like wtf is happening ? Just saw him in Munich tho and I have to say their show was a lot more authentic and engaging. I was sceptical because of their stylised stage design ( I bet Kanye talked him into it) and the whole Gucci gang clothing thing + social media. But 1. Shannon opened the show , which is great, because he is the heart of this band. 2. The stage design is nice to look at and since it’s an almost 360 stage ( almost because the back is vip, crew etc.) which makes it interactive and dynamic + good use of lights and they take time to actually light the audience too => again more interactive cause you can actually see the people in the crowd .
    For the new album it’s just a wait and see , I liked walk on water but I’m not sure about dangerous night because it’s poppy but then again maybe we shouldn’t categorise every move they make and let them do their thing. No one forces you/ me/ us to listen to their music if we don’t want to ;) + before I forget: everyone is complaining about the Jared Leto hype but we are all part of it ( media commenting on his looks rather than the bands show, interviewers barely asking tomo, Shannon, Steve questions, magazines and reporters categorising him as a sex symbol etc. , us complaining about him => focusing the attention even more on him rather than on the band and music etc etc ... ) , that’s what happens when you put a handsome/ eccentric person as the front man of a band. It’s just a never ending theme in the history of bands.
