In today's video I get the Wastegates to open up in the car! This thing is a total sleeper! It's subtle on the outside but when those Dump tubes start screaming it means business! This setup is going above and beyond my expectations so far. Boost is really responsive and It's expected to make some awesome power with these Mirror image Pulsar Turbo's G25-660's (5449's) paired with the Polar engineering turbo manifolds! The Drivetrain setup is working flawlessly and I cannot be happier with my Mcleod rxt1200 clutch!
I also finally get my Suspension techniques 28mm front sway bar installed, Correct some exhaust leaks, and do the final oil change for the break-in. (I will always recomend and VG30DE Z32 to use VR1 20w50. This car at 30 psi is going to be an absolute ANIMAL, however we obviously have a small problem that needs taken care of now. AND I will probably need some different wheels and stickier tires to be able to put that power down.
Help me out by sharing this and giving this video a :thumbs up: !!
Stay tuned for the next video where I find out what actually went wrong here..

I know the feeling!! After building a power house yourself and then giving it gas and nothing but giggles and smiles!! Best feeling ever bro, congrats!
Spanning the globe to bring you the constant variety of sports car modification
The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat
The human drama of high horsepower builds
This is Billy Built's Nissan 300zx Turbo
Don't worry Billy, if it doesn't blow up at least once, you haven't done it at all.
Well Done.
I love seeing VG builds man, people dont give them enough credit they are so cool!
at 14:08 i just realized you dont live very far from me. Congrats on the build sir, it turned out amazing!
Thank you!
Wow Billy. That motor sounds great!
This perfectly sums up Z32 ownership, ecstasy followed eventually by misery lmao. Car is sick man congrats, you’ll get it figured out 🤙
The joy in this video is amazing. and love a good VG build. they are super underrated. people are gonna be suprised seeing a "heavy" z32 hanging with the big boys on the road
They're few and far between for being such a mass produced motor.
Oh man super happy for you congratulations i hope the issues in the end of the video are an easy fix I hate riding the emotional roller coaster of a good car build
I recently found this channel, I sub'd immediately. I love Z cars! Hopefully it was a minor issue! Thank you for the great content!
Love 300zx’s, so you’ve got a sub! Here for it man!
Thank you!
congrats bro! This channel deserves more views!!!
Thank you!! Appreciate that!
Happy Birthday! I have a AMS H-pipe with resonators. I have had no issues it for 8 years. Besides that the car looks amazing!
Thank you !!
Wow I am prying for you Billy everything is going to be okay I know how you feel I have my zcar in the garage for 2 years restoring and modifying and it really gets very expensive and emotional I haven’t driven the car and have $$$ in
I know you are going to fix that issue and continue to enjoy this iam very
Happy to see you enjoying your hard work god bless my Z brother 😅
🙏🏾💪🏾 we are learning from you tanks 🙏🏾😁
happy birthday‼️🎈🎈
Happy birthday man!
Thank you!
You’ll get it sorted. My Z rode the tow truck the other day. Turned out to be something super minor.
I don't quit!😎
I spread a nice amount of copper gasket craps on my exhaust gaskets to rid some leaks
Thatdudeinblue review coming soon im assuming..my man 🔥🔥
dude, i also plumbed in the waste gate vaccum lines to the wrong accordians. then quickly fixed it. now im running full haltech with electronic boost controllers
Happy birthday billy!!🥳🥳🥳
Thank you!
I just got my z running a couple weeks ago and my glove box is also broken😭 the car has broken down twice within the like 7 or 8 times I’ve driven it😂😓 it also gets real shaky when I get into boost as well it’s weird. It’s cool how our cars both started running around the same time
If you haven't already looked into it, the R35 guys are playing with VTC to get those same turbos to spool about 500rpm sooner than not playing with it. So between vtc and timing, you may be able to spool a little quicker. 🤘
Coming along great my man. 👌
I'm not even flooring the car before 5000 RPM if at all. Not yet anyway. they're spooling plenty quick already.
I’m not sure I can describe how much I want to see your car fully operational and reaching its potential. Also, if you haven’t got your glovebox latch yet, I was able to fix the one in my Z by using a zip-tie to hold one of the plastic pieces of the mechanism that had broken in place.
Really appreciate that man! It will 100% get there..
What's hilarious is I did the exact same thing with the zip tie lmao
I really want that intake manifold.
aye yo billy loving the content dude seeing yours tears of relief and joy reminded me of when i first pulled my z in the drievway.
curious though what gearbox is that?
Thanks! It's a tremec t56 magnum xl
I believe there's a way to get nicer boost control by putting your boost valves in series (sort of) instead of parallel. More video content for us if you try it!
I have heard of this. although the purpose of having 2 in parallel here is to keep the solenoids as close to the wastegates as possible to increase controller response.
@@Billy_Built That makes sense. However, you could have finer control and better boost valve lifespan (plus quicker spool with lighter springs) with a re-route. Here's a video that presents it for a single turbo, but it could be adapted for twin turbos simply with t-fittings. The configuration is presented at the end, but the merits are discussed throughout: czcams.com/video/hYIL_XvlYTE/video.htmlsi=lZdlNkotLWnjk1jt
I just picked up a 95 TT! Thanks for all the vids. Do you think you can make a “top 5 mods” video?
Kinda already did a video of recommended modifications. Have something similar coming up too
hello, i dont know your turbo set up but 20w50 is pretty hard for cold start for your turbo, do you have an oil pressure regulator for them ?? with the level of your build you maybe need one for each turbo its a safe accesoire
They have restrictors.
I love VR1 oil for my Z32
I though I knew where you are. I'm in Orlando/St Cloud LOL Use to live in Clearwater.
Nice! Yup Florida born and raised 👍
You have to replace the glovebox latch. It’s a common issue, just replaced mine.
a couple zip ties will do the trick..😎
That is a heck of a misfire...sounds like it is running on 5 cylinders. Hopefully, it is something simple like an injector. But, love seeing the progress.
It'd getting fixed as we speak. Next video will have that.
Awesome. Looking forward to hearing about what happened. Most importantly, I'm glad it will be fixed.
Nice bro, any of us guys that have been around for a while understand rebuilds with aftermarket stuff takes a while to iron out all the kinks. Your on the way though, cool build bro, rare to see people that no what there talking about with z32s. Delete that hicas bro its a cool idea and concept but an old system that weighs a good bit and is added clutter and headache. Swap to na powersteering pump and call it a day with a hicks delete kit. Looks like a 1996 z are you tuning with obd 2?
Thanks man, It's a 94 and the electric HICAS is unplugged so it's not doing anything and since it is electric there's really nothing to it, I've had the delete bar for years actually just have had 0 need to install it. It's currently hooked up to a Volvo electric p.s. pump that still needs a little bit of work There's another video of that install. There's videos of this entire build actually. vehicle is on a haltech
Hey man, I hope it's something minor. What kind of ticking and did oil pressure really dive?logs were looking ok up untill this point
Oil pressure was fine.
Is your electric power steering working as planned? Looks a little hard to turn from just watching.
Had some issues, haven't got the chance to figure out what they were.
Don’t remember if I’ve asked already, what size/offset are your wheels?
See description
That sucks Billy. I'm so sorry. I hope it's nothing serious, but man do I know how you're feeling. A few weeks ago Pierre heard a very light, irregular tinging sound, that sounded like a turbo blade cliping the housing. Check them with a borescope and saw nothing and when we started it we didn't hear it anymore. Drove it home all seemed fine, so I parked it and blew it off. Well later that evening I started thinking about it again and thought I'll just go start it again, and take a video just incase I hear it again. Little did I know I was going to capture what happens when a valve drops. 😳😯😦😫 Turn up your sound, you can hear it right after start, and then again a few seconds later followed immediately by a draw down in rpm then back up again at 15 seconds into the video. It dropped an exhaust valve on the number two cylinder. The sound you heard was the piston hitting the valve. czcams.com/video/sMNlhFjO-eY/video.html
That sucks man! hopefully the valve didn't drop all the way, doesn't sound like it did. Valves are cheap, unfortunately it's a lot of labor to replace one though. You would definitely like what I have coming up for this..
Shouldn’t the wastegate vacuum lines be equal length?
pressure is pretty much a constant anyway, so it doesnt matter that much. Same with length on intercooler piping. The travellength for air in the pipes is probably meassurable, but cant really tell any different.
@@ingar83 thank you for the information!
Seems like someone needs alignment 😂😂. What year is your z?
I corrected it in this video, granted a machine would certainly help to fine tune it. it's a 94
Get a 4 port boost solenoid, will give you better control of wastegates.
4 ports are typically more difficult to control at lower duty cycle. But are capable of more boost. I've never heard anyone recommend one for better control.
@@Billy_Built I mean in the sense you can run a weaker wastegate spring and have more choice of how much boost you want to run. You could have like a 7lb spring yet still run 30lbs of boost should you want. Just gives you a bigger working window especially when your traction limited in lower gears where you probably don't need 17lbs of boost etc.
What ecu are you running?
Haltech
What shifter is that?
bowler
🏁🎞🎞🎞🏁👍
Did you figure out what the issue was? Does'nt sound good :(
Yes. It will be in the Next video
Sunova..
This build is becoming sweet! I would recommend deleting the HICAS (rear steering), at higher horsepower levels the car becomes unpredictable with oversteer.
