The Futurama actually looks like a modded Soviet Borisov Futurama-2, refinished and with a different pick guard. Maybe the original horrible Soviet pickups have been swapped for P90s.
The body shape, headstock and bridge/trem look identical.
I would advise caution when buying early Soviet electric guitars because those did not have truss rods and their necks tend to get warped over time.

I don't remember what my first guitar cost, but it was too big for me and uncomfortable to play (no idea what the music store was thinking not telling me to go for something smaller). So when I picked up the guitar again after college, I traded it in for something I could play without my shoulder and arm hurting and my hand not being able to grip the neck very well. It was a better deal for them than me, but I couldn't really play it and I didn't want to try to sell it myself for a better price. I just wanted something I could play right then 😂

I'll never forget a Reverb listing for a used Fender Pro Jr, the 15 watt 10" speaker tube combo from the late 2000's that was once Noel Gallagher's. On a good day, a used one is about $350 USD. The asking price was something like $3000! I'm a huge Noel fan, but a generic Mexican made Fender tube combo does not magically increase in value just because it was his home practice amp. Maybe a $500 premium on top of the normal used price because of that novelty, but certainly not boutique amp price, that's for damn sure!

If memory serves me well, I think that the Futurama was one of the strange Strat copies that George Harrison played in the very early Liverpool days of the Beatles... not that any of those (other then hispersonal one) would now be worth anywhere near $70k. But it wasn't that much of an oddity.

Great vid, you should make a video on people trying to get ridiculous prices on squires. For some reason there is not a difference between MIMS ,American Fenders and off brands, as long as it has a Stratocaster style body. .

I always get a kick out of the memorabilia stores in Las Vegas that have framed autographed guitars by famous musicians selling for crazy money. The funny thing is the guitars themselves are always crap. They’re pawn shop no name guitars or at the absolute best, squires. They never sell framed autographed American made guitars.

"Biz zit"? I think that is the name of a business that makes pimple cream. Perhaps "Bizay"? I don't understand complex English Major phonetic symbols. I have heard of a few classical composers. I love it. Thank you for that pronunciation. I add that to my repertoire of things like "sauvignion' being pronounced at a wine store as "saw vig non" and a "molybdenum" alloy tool being sold at a tool store as "Molly beat 'um".

3:14 The "Bizet" from 'The Joker' guitar is the French Romantic-era composer Georges Bizet -- so silent 'T'.

My formula for the perfect axe:
    1 used Mexi Strat - $300
    1 Wilkinson trem upgrade - $60
1 set Fender graded locking tuners : $60
    2 Fender pups: $120 (N-M)
    1 Humbucker $140 (B)
1 newly wired pick guard plus setup: $275
You end up with an amazing asskicker axe for $1G people are constantly asking about if it’s vintage, or old pups.. it’s a lousy 2009 Mexi with a lot of love :)

THANK GOD I’m so glad you said “you probably wouldn’t have to spend more than $3000k on a guitar” I was thinking thee exact same thing to myself throughout the entire video. The thing is under $1k you have so many decent guitars to buy and play and $3k well that should be anyones line because a guitar as such should look and play like a pretty prestigious guitar.

I think the "expected to sell soon" is just something reverb adds regardless. Saw that on a "custom steampunk Jackson neck" which was just a neck where the headstock broke in half and was fixed with a strip of metal and 2 screws and then someone held a lighter to it to add burn marks bc i guess that's steam punk?

I saw kid rock out in the wild one time. How i know it was kid rock is because i saw a big lifted white truck with "Kid Rock" written across the windshield and he was walking towards it.
It was in a wealthy touristy coastal town near some of the hotels on the bayfront, it was actually a place you might see someone like that. Im not the type to recognize celebrities, and i live in the american south so even someone looking like kid rock wouldn;t stand out all that much to me. But the truck was a bit of a give away lol i saw it first and was like "wtf? who likes kid rock THAT much?" And then i saw him and was like oh thats ACTUALLY kid rock. Is it more weird or less weird for him to drive a vehicle with his name in big letters on it?

Damn! I remember seeing the Synthax for around $7k on ebay 20 years ago. If I had bought it and made sure it continued to be functional, maybe I could've made 3x my money. Holdsworth could never keep them fully operational so I'd be wary of actually owning one now even when Holdsworth would never use it in the last 20 years. I'm not even sure the last couple releases he had (not much released in 2000s) used it...maybe Flat Tire.

My Les Paul is the most expensive guitar I own. Paid just under $6000.00 for it over 15 years ago. It's worth at least double that today I'm this market. But my favorite most customized guitar is my '89 Fender Stratocaster. Has two invaders with a Mightymite Motherbucker in-between them. Wired with a Killswitch similar to Tom Morello's guitars. Routed for a Floyd Rose tremolo with green noiseless springs with a solid brass block. I'm wiring green LED lights into the fretboard for the dot inlays. The parts alone cost 5 X's the price of the guitar brand new... But it was my first electric. I'll never get rid of it! Had it since I was 6 years old! I'm now 33.

Had an opportunity to purchase a Jackson Zoraxe guitar around 10-15 years ago on Ebay. Completely hand carved and painted. Custom case. Never played. Just a gorgeous instrument! Looked like a skeletonized mutant fish creature...very cool. Had to have it!!
The seller didn't play so I guess he was just trying to get what he could out of it...he had won it in some raffle. He was only asking US$3,500.This was a fantastic deal as there were only 6 ever made. But I could only come up with $2,500. Got him down to $3,000 eventually, but still $500 short. I'm a huge fan of Jackson guitars anyway...broke my heart that it got away. It sold for the $3,00 that day. He prolly could've gotten a good bit more than that...
I actually saw one of them for sale at Ed Roman Guitars a while ago for like $12,500.
