  • I upgraded my Akai Force with four MT41K512M16HA-125IT ram chips purchased from Ali Express.
    this allows you to run more plugins and more sample heavy keygroups before running out of memory!
    If you would like this done to your Force or MPC device, feel free to contact me at contact@grcomputertech.com
    I also do music. my 2 releases are playing in the background. feel free to support by listening and maybe purchasing a digital copy on bandcamp? 😉😅

    Update: I have found newer chips that will work. These are named.
    MT41K512M16VRP-107 AIT:P
    MT41K512M16VRP-107 IT:P
    The only difference between the two is that AIT is made for automotive and IT is for industrial. automotive chips handle more heat but IT should be good enough, your choice.

    Very well done.
    What could be very nice would to to be able to put more than 8 plug-ins or audio tracks after this mod !

    I’am looking that with X-Files theme in background 😅 AKAI should do something to facilitate the upgrade on all models and easily.

    You da fuckin' man!
    I wish I knew how to do this.
    The Force is most definitely with you!
    I'll share it, but I also would like to see a follow-up video in the future.
    Thanks for risking your Force.
    Peace!

    Very cool! Thx to show it actually works! Do you think 8Gb is possiible? Are they any compatible RAM modules for that?

    32 bit architecture, only 4GB is addressed.

    Nice work. I was hoping for this. Could this be possible with Akai MPC key models. Is there a max of Ram?

    Nice video, thank you.
    It appears that whole board can be swapped out. Do you know the name or pin configuration of that socket. There are module boards out there with faster rockchip cpu's and more ram.. I can't figure out the name of that socket type.

    Nice. Now, if you could only replace the RK3288 with a RK3588.

    Is there a much higher RAM CHIP THAT COULD have been used than the generic 4G????More on the side of a 1TB .....PLEASE continue to enhance the FORCE....Thanks

    • @brianpinkins6218
      @brianpinkins6218 Před 17 dny +1

      No, there isn’t an option for that and if it was, it would possibly cost about $20,000. RAM (i.e., memory) is different from storage. RAM is used to run the OS, temporarily hold samples, and other miscellaneous OS stuff. The storage would be like SSD, flash drives, or SD cards. It is possible to get 1TB of storage currently, relatively cheap. But an equal amount of RAM, not so much. It’s other technical stuff to consider , like the MPC is ran off of a SBC with predetermined memory amounts. So probably anything more than 8gb RAM is probably not even offered for this particular SBC. Further, if the computer architecture is dated, the MPC OS might not even be able to handle anything more than 4gb RAM.

      @@brianpinkins6218 if I'm not mistaken the 3288 which Akai uses is primitive, they need to be at the least 3588 ,Akai's is starving their Loyalist.....

    • @gmorb666
      @gmorb666 Před 8 dny

      Yes 4gb is as far as it will go. You could probably push it to 8gb or 16gb but it would be a waste of time and the OS would most likely not even handle it properly and thats assuming you can find the modules to push it that far.

    Urgh solder balls. I considered doing this until I saw them! Always have a bad time with them. But it didn't look too bad! Maybe I will...

  • @kentuckyfriedcaleb

    Looks like you used a heat gun the melt the flux, solder wick to remove excess, then added some to reseat. Am I missing something?

    • @grcomputertech4139
      @grcomputertech4139  Před měsícem

      @kentuckyfriedcaleb using a good hot air station, usually good ones run 200 to 300 USD. I have a quick but atten is also good. Add flux, heat up chip, remove chip, wick off excess, add new chip, add more flux if needed, and heat up till it bonds. Do a tap test to see if the chip moves slightly but stays in place.
