Noah, your analysis is always warm, thoughtful, honest, and actually educational.
listening to you while 7 months pregnant, itâs not only calming for me, but also my son seems to find your voice soothing because he moves excitedly when i watch your videos :)
My favorite thing is the half eaten banana in the fruit bowl. Comparing this with the overly staged tours of unnecessarily large homes we often find on youtube this is really refreshing and cozy!
The Modern House channel has some of the best tours because their home tours feature creatives and are actually lived in. They also include projects that are somewhat achievable, some more than others, so there's always something you can see and translate to a house or apartment. You can also support the artists they feature. When I watched Julia's tour for the first time, I knew it would be popular. I also really liked Oscar Piccolo's and Charlotte Taylor's home tours on that channel; they had a different vibe but were very personal. I also really like the tours on Schumacher's channel, but I wish they were longer.
i love how thoughtful all your videos are!! its very inspiring and it encourages people including myself to take a more patient/thorough approach to design :)
Ghost door đ±
I just started watching the video and I had to stop to check comments and see if anybody else noticed the ghost door đ
It's just the wind, in my room if the door is ajar it drifts open and closed making an insufferable thud so I never leave it like that.
One of my favorite home tours online. You did a good job articulating principles behind why itâs so lovely.
This is one of my favorites from the Modern House! Also their most recent tour with Simon Allford was a masterclass in curation
So obsessed with your channel and your critical and engaging discussions on design and interior/spatial design. Iâm a graphic designer so I love seeing when other people are just as geeked out about their craft. I can listen forever â€
This was one f my favourite home tours. So gorgeous.
I think a great idea for a video would be analysing your favourite architectsâ work, they could be more historical architects⊠doing a series dedicating a video to each style maybe. You could look into cathedrals or other stuff besides homes. Love all your content, greetings from Spainâ€ïžâ€ïž
thank you for the discovery and really loved your analysis!
You live in Copenhagen!!! I am so jelly. I cared for an elderly danish lady here in the U.S. and she made me want to live there â€. She was from Rorvig 30s/40s. I just love the furniture and the ceramics from that country. So much history and beauty in the land, architecture, and craftmanship đ If you are ever open to it, I would love to see a home tour and a vlog anywhere in denmark â€
Love how besides amusing, how educational your videoâs are! Learning something new every timenđ
i love listening to you talk in your videos, so fascinating and relaxing and i learn so much
You explained the rational for the coined design aesthetic âorganic modernâ when you mentioned the railing being softend by plants. Modern isnât seen as soft/warm on its own, so folks add organic elements to it.
I'm far more interested in seeing "regular" people's houses so I can gain some realistic design inspiration. Unattainable houses are fun to look at but don't provide much value for me on a practical level.
I love that channel! Really gives me a better idea how light, space, scale, and functionality can be manipulated by a real pro. I love that the homes are usually reasonably sized.
Loved this....happy to listen to you talk about design...all day!
This house is my favorite. Really happy that you mention it!! ;)
Awesome video, great pick and so many subtle, insightful notes about it!
i really enjoy listening to u talk. id love to hear expand your thoughts on "organic modernism" - your critique sounded very interesting
keep it up (:
Iâve been waiting for you all week! Yay
Thank you for the tour! I loved the focus on art and books throughout the home, and it felt like an ode to a particular time period in architectural history. My main gripe is with the color of the bedrooms -- they shouldn't be white. I understand why the rest of the home is white -- it lets her highlight the art and furniture pieces. But the bedrooms could have their vibes enhanced with color -- perhaps a ruddy light brown in the basement and either a blue, yellow, or rose in her main bedroom.
I love the living area, and love the fact that a TV is not the dominant feature. I personally don't own a TV, so I really do feel that about the living room!
Witzig, dieses Haus hat mich auch extrem inspiriert...ich habe mir das Video mehrfach angesehen. Die Liebe zu den schönen Dingen ist ĂŒberall spĂŒrbarâ€
Thank you for blessing my Friday afternoon I had a tough day at work now Iâm going to have a pizza for dinner and watch your video :)
Modestly magnificent and simply spectacular!
Love your videos †Many art museums have quite colorful walls to highlight the art!
Loved thisss!
I really love your channel and your thoughtful and inspiring info. This home is beautiful and functional however it just doesn't seem comfortable. It's wholly dedicated to design and appearance but misses the comfort level in my eyes
Curious about your take on Finn Juhlâs house (which, if you havenât, you should visit just outside Copenhagen)
Not to be confused with the showroom called house of Finn Juhl. I meant the pretty home he designed for himself
habitat is an amazing build just like it was an amazing store when Terence was running it
Once again asking you to talk about your experience as an interior design student and your thoughts surrounding your education, what you do now, what kind of classes you took, what you learned, etc.!!!!!
How pompous you sound. That is obviously not what this channel is about. If you want that kind of content maybe do it yourself.
@@Timur18056and who are you to dictate what his channel is about? He can choose to post whatever heâd like too.
@@Timur18056Wow your response is kind of mean. I would also love to know more about Noah. Whatâs wrong with that?
@@Timur18056 No
@@Timur18056 No
Damnit, I've seen it already...
But it's nice to hear you talk about it.
Look how the small carpet in the living room work!
Hope we're gonna have your home tour in the future â€
Thank you for recommendation!
One of the founders of Modern House also had a podcast called Homing In.
good choice. the modern house is great
enjoy family time!
As always, phenomenal video. Thanks!! I was hoping you would discuss how the art is hung on the walls. Do you have a take on that?
Hey Noah, love your vids. Reckon you'd consider making a vid just about designing bedrooms? I want to make over my room but also need to incorporate a decently sized desk set up and don't know how to not make it look corny or obtrusive. Keep up the awesome work!
Wow, I loved this house, such lovely use of space and shape
I love your videos so much! I'm so glad you decided to create longer contet, it's so informative and inspiring :) I will be designing my own house interior soon, and I just adore the idea behind modernism combined with mid-century. I can't afford an interior architect, so those videos are my learning source :) Do you think you it would be possible to sign up for an interior consulation with you?
i have a video idea: could you give us some tips on how to design a student dorm room? I really like your videos and love your taste in design. But I cannot really apply your layout tips, because I live in a shared apartment and just one room is mine. Would be very interesting to hear your thoughts on that
The modern house is a real estate agency. if you go to their wesbite they have even more to check out (and possibly buy). They also have the floor plans!!
I watched that video a couple days ago and have been trying to figure out if I can track down that blanket ever since! Unfortunately I think it might be vintage but it's such a good pattern
Sigh...I too have longed to build my own home with my own hands. Unfortunately, I have very low vitality, drive and self confidence. Oh, and no money đ
Love your content come get this buss
â€
The blanket in the spare room is a Welsh blanket
You need to see Jessica Chastainâs listed apartment! Thought you miggt like it
What are the odds you could do a video giving a brief overview of design theory/history?
love. your. channel.
just ranting (i do rly like this home) but im sooo tired of white walls i really don't understand their extreme prevalence in like very designed spaces ... like yes its easier to work around but aren't you guys designers? isn't that your job? to understand that constraint and know how to work around it in a beautiful way/use it to your advantage? lol but i haven't done much designing an actual space outside of my minds eye so idk. but the wall color of course does sooo much for the vibe of the space i don't understand why light tones of pink or green or truly whatever arent more common. is the only off white we can manage to think of beige? like the light bouncing off the walls is sooo crucial it makes a space automatically so much warmer and cozier/moody feeling to have some sort of tone on the walls (and then that tone is reflected on all of the objects). white walls also just screams lack of intentionality to me. like every wall in every home is white because it needs to be as mass appealing as possible for commercial reasons, i/a lot of people stick with white walls because we're renting and don't have a choice in the matter, and the designers still can't move past white walls as an object of sheer necessity? just feels sad and boring and lazy. tbf though i hate a lot of modern design aesthetics because the clean lines/stripped down ornament just reads sooo generic and cheap to me. like ikea furniture but nicer materials. more of a reaction to that rather than something inherently super wrong with white walls but still! there's way too many of them! can we get some vibes :(
If you get a chance to respond, I'd love to hear any books you recommend for learning more about the philosophy of Modernism in design.
Hope you have a great week with the parents!
Hello, hello ;-)
Hey, could you create a video on Japandi? Thanks a lot in advance!
The door đ»
Great house, reminds me of Kettle's Yard in Cambridge - check it out!
As another commenter mentioned, Iâd love to hear your critique of the contemporary âorganic modernâ trend, as it seems to create a definition of modernism that is inaccurate (plus its use of mass-produced âwabi sabi,â which is so insultingly ironic).
1:42 spooky moment
Open windows and wind existsâŠ
Frank Lloyd Wright-the original modernist and inventor of âorganic architectureâ only used plants to cover what he considered mistakes. đsuch was his ego.
There is a ghost sneaking in and out of the door behind you. Hope it's someone you are fond of.
Oh wait wait wait. I am worth a lot of money. I just donât have a lot of it.
Frank Lloyd Wright-the original modernist and inventor of âorganic architectureâ only used plants to cover what he considered mistakes. đsuch was his ego. He also used human scale. Why why why have modernist principles been abandoned? I too dream of living in a modest well designed home. I got the next best thing with space to display and enjoy things Iâve collected over a lifetime.
Great channelâŠrequestâŠtry to eliminate âvibeâ.
So crazy over used on CZcams and says â0â in 2024.
Hmm, it is a beautiful house, but I expect a bit more criticism from an architect reviewing a house. For example: there is no comfortable chair with a reading light next to it. There is no sofa, that long-chair does not replace a sofa where you can relax and watch TV or read a book. There is no garage anymore, they made a guest-room out of the garage. So, what to do with a car? On the public road? That is not nice for other people in the neighborhood. The low bamboo next to the door is in fact a noxious weed and a disaster if you want to sell the house. What I see as positive of your review, is that you like the small carpets. The American interior designers who all repeat that a carpet should be big, I think that is not always true, and this is such a case. What I also like is your opinion about the sizing of the house: not too big, but nice and cosy. And I like it also that you like that the bookcase is full with books and not a display of home decor. The stair is beautiful but impractical when she gets older, or when she wants to do the laundry. Is there no garden?
The whole point of the video is showing homes he likes and takes inspo from???
hey, im an architecture student and i would love to see a video about how to fullfill spaces while thinking and making the project of a house, what to do with empty spaces, please đ„č
