I worked at Jeep Truck Engineering in Ram Vehicle Development during the inception of this truck. We had built a few test mules years before the actual Viper truck was released and had an absolute blast driving them around the metro Detroit area, beating up on unsuspecting pony cars of that era. They were a handful to drive but would lay rubber for as long as you were willing to let them. Non stop shenanigans.

I've got a Gen 3 Viper and the parts issue usually falls into one of three categories.
    1. Shared part across the Chrysler lineup-usually available and inexpensive. Examples include switches, sensors, etc.
    2. Difficult to find Mopar parts but aftermarket substitutes and upgrades are available. Usually pricey.
    3. Viper-specific part. Expensive. Often unavailable because Chrysler has a habit of discontinuing parts for low-production vehicles as soon as they can-so you're looking for used or NOS parts at significant markup.
That's kind of what you deal with on a rare vehicle. There's not enough of them to make it worthwhile for the aftermarket en masse, and those that do charge a premium because they've got limited numbers that they can sell. The manufacturer doesn't care because it doesn't make sense to make parts for vehicles that are long out of warranty and not numerous enough to generate profit servicing.

I have a 2005 SRT 10 quad cab with -7200 miles, the bed full of a seemingly endless supply of 100 dollar bills, champagne spraying out of the windshield wiper fluid reservoir, and painted in platinum (not platinum color-ACTUAL PLATINUM). I got the rare super-turbo-dilithium warp core engine (so rare that they only made 0 of them). It gets .0000007002 miles per gallon (and runs best when the gas is poured into the tank one drop at a time using a turkey baster), raises people from the dead anytime I drive by a cemetery, and does my laundry for me (including separating delicates). Only real issue I've had with it is occasionally one of the 100 dollar bills isn't as crispy as I prefer, but that's not as big of a deal to the random people I give them away to as much as it's an annoyance to me...

But not beyond a little "Showing Off" once in a while. But I have a "curiosity" my Documentation, and online VIN search show it as a 2005... BUT, it is the Mineral Grey, and NOT "Silver"... and it has the dual rigt-side exhaust and molded bumper of the 2006 models..?? I do not have documents on the exact build date.
My only guess is that it WAS Silver, and the previous owner changed out the rear bumper, and upgraded the exhaust, then re-painted it into the 2006 color...

I hate going to a car show with the same car as anyone else, I’ve seen two other ones in my travels in province wide car shows never a nightrunner and majority are four doors. It’s a beast on the highway and I find going from 80km to 160km is my favourite, blasting from a launch is a blast and rowing the gears is fantastic. With the stock shifted the throw is large and it takes a little to get use to banging, some parts are semi rare, factory tires are drying up as Pirelli stopped production,
It gets massive double takes as it’s not over the top on looks, I have rat rods, convertibles and crotch rockets but to me it’s the most discreet that I enjoy for myself and never disappoints me when I hop in to go for a rip.
Speed is a weird concept being so high up as you don’t feel how fast your actually going (the lower to the ground you are the faster speed is perceived hence go karts feel blisteringly quick) bluntly it moves 5k lbs faster than you’d ever want to lol I’ll never sell it as I know I’ll instantly regret it and never obtain the same thing. It’s very easy to be a hooligan in as a majority have been crashed and written off.
