    Just give it time, I think a lot of people are just speaking way too soon on this. It’s Zamperla’s first big coaster so this isn’t all too surprising. I’m sure Cedar Fair expected and anticipated this risk

  • @OfficialEthanStillCodes-9229
    @OfficialEthanStillCodes-9229 Před 2 měsíci +7

    Honestly Cedar Point took a risk, but it was because they saw they were working on their coaster division to be up there with Intamin and other big coaster manufacturers. They have indeed worked with them in the past with flat rides and kiddie coasters. I wouldn’t say they went cheap.
    But honestly, I am not surprised much, as it is their first ever big coaster and it can have issues. Let’s not talk about how many issues Dragster had before. This is mainly the reason why manufactures get good in the first place, they learn. Even Intamin learned overtime from problems.

    I hear the topic of parks' relationship with manufacturers come up a lot, and I think it's bogus. I seriously doubt park executives blacklist manufacturers because of one ride that caused problems, especially not intamin considering all they've done for CP. The park took a massive risk with TTD, and they had 2 decades of opportunities to stop living with it but chose to keep it. And they knew the risk they were taking helping zamperla get into the big leagues. They're not dummies, they signed that contract for a reason, and they aren't regretting it just because their new prototype ride developed an issue (like they do) and zamperla was swift to act. The thing's already back on the track for frick's sake. Also, parks don't just lose the company's number after they've installed a ride; they have to work together on after-market care for the duration of the ride's life.
    I also don't buy that a botched opening has any stain on the park's reputation. By this time next year, nobody will care that top thrill 2 ruined summer. Ambulance chasing is the coaster enthusiast community's bread and butter.

    It seems to be all about the new lightning trains and their debut on this biggest in the world attraction. Also, Intamin reliability has greatly improved over the years. And can you REALLY put all the blame on Intamin? Let's be honest here.... CP went to them and said "we need to break all these height and speed records". They were probably the only company willing to go there. Dragster, and Ka probably push that hydraulic launch system to the max. Yes there's going to be problems with it. • @urbex_coasters
    @urbex_coasters Před 2 měsíci +1

    I wouldn't have reimagined Dragster in the first place (my top choice would've been an RMC T-Rex to take the height record). At least, not with resemblance to the original. If I had to keep the top hat I would've had Gerslauer do it as an infinity coaster and turned going up the top hat into a vertical lift and put in a full layout. That full layout would include the world's tallest inversion (especially intimidating with lapbar only), several airtime moments, and extend onto the plots of Corkscrew and Power Tower, both of which would be removed. The top hat, in addition to being utilised as the lift and drop for this coaster, would feature a drop tower and an observation point. That's how I would've "reimagined" Dragster. Something nothing like it that pays omage to it by reusing the physical structure and track of the top hat. Grant it I was never a big fan of the original and I doubt I'd be a fan of TT2 as both are gimmicky junk without substance but that's what I would've done if I were in charge and had to keep the top hat.

  • @michaezell4607
    @michaezell4607 Před 2 měsíci +1

    The problem isn't so much with the manufacturer...instead the problem is with the concept for the ride from the very beginning back in 2002/2003.
    Intamin had relatively no problem with the smaller scale hydraulic launched coasters they'd previously built but when they,along with this particular park decided to supersize the original concept....that is when they ran into problems.
    We've essentially pushed Rollercoasters to their limits around that time especially because doing so required an alternative to a chain or cable lift in order to bring the train up to it's highest point.
    The current problem they're having now is with the wheels on the trains simply being unable to tolerate the extreme forces especially when it comes to friction causing the wheel surface to overheat and crack.
    There's probably no solution to this specific problem because even polyurethane technology is not without it's limitations.
    Unfortunately this particular park has built itself around pandering to enthusiasts as a result of all the free publicity they got in the late 90s and early 2000s by being featured on all those discovery Channel amusement park programs and management there is deathly afraid of upsetting the spoiled brat enthusiasts if they dare to remove any attraction in the park.
    Had that accident happened at any other park you can bet dollars to donuts that the ride in question would have been removed immediately as trying to pander to any special interest group would be not be worth the negative publicity that such an accident would receive.
    The park should have removed the attraction and replaced it with a safer,.ore reliable attraction instead of continuing to throw money into trying to fix a problematic attraction that odds are cannot be fixed at all. I mean look at what KD did with volcano? That ride was plagued with mechanical issues even before it first opened to the public and both the park and cedar fair got tired of fixing it. Sure spoiled brat enthusiasts whined and complained about it being removed but guess what? The park survived just fine and npw a newer more reliable attraction is replacing it.

    This seems like it should be a parody video for overreactions lol are you kidding me dude? You are making some serious assumptions based on very little time so far... The worst decision of Cedar Point's history like for real dude?

    You get what you pay for, Zamperla obviously isn't getting to the bottom of the situation very quick and the park is not giving much update info because it could affect business. I do not think it is fair to customers .

      @@JJJJ-he8bz they did awesome with dragster besides the hydraulic launch which was always operating every time I've been there. Intamin has reliable lsm and trains and are experienced with mega rides as Zamperla is not.

      @@JJJJ-he8bz well CP came to them and said "we need to break all these records" and I'll bet that Intamin was the only company that was willing to give it a shot. With Millie too. Dragster and Ka are probably pushing that hydraulic launch to the max. What is amazing is that the rides worked at all in the first place.
