This is my favourite song of the Close album. I love this song since it came out in 1988, it's a fantastic song.The 80's was her decade, and she is still phenomenal.
Even better are the other albums, apart from the debut, whcih is just behind. Her comeback album in 2018 was better than "Close"-a real surprise that as I thought it might be just behind. Kim 1988 was great, but the amazing multi-angled approach of 1981-1987 wasn't such in evidence. Still amazing, and the album's lovely, particuarly 'Four Letter Word', but the "Select", "Catch As Catch Can", "Teases & Dares", "Another Step" and attendant B-sides ann non-album singles were never be revisited. Nonetheless there's big evidence that Kim 2010 and Kim 2018 can at least compete a little better. Oh and if anyone has picked up the newly released first 3 albums in deluxe form, 3 NEW SONGS UNCOVERED FROM THE 80S VAULTS. Check out on CZcams 'HE WILL BE THERE' ("Select" cover pic) and 'SAIL ON' & 'RAIN ON' ("Catch As Catch Can" cover pic). Now we await (hurry up, bastards!) all the other remasters, and hopefully 'THAT'S THE MOOD I'M IN' from the "Another Step" era & 'Time To Live Your Life' from "Love Moves", & 'World Through Your Eyes' from "Now & Forever" era will do so too. And what about the later stuff and the locked away 1998 CD?But we're not getting any younger, and Kim, woman, pll your finger out. But then I tried the sound with this record. And when my sound system delivered the powerful chords of the intro the room was transformed. By the time I heard Kim's voice, I knew it was going to be alright and it would be an exciting party. 35 years ago, but I remember the feeling when hearing the song.
This is by far and away her best 'single' performance - she really goes for, and gets, those high notes in the chorus! Amazing vocal performance, giving a tantalising glimpse of the raw talent lurking under those other, largely unassuming, pop tunes she was asked to perform. Her vocals are more reminiscent, in strength and clarity, of Tina Turner at her best. So, Kim, where the hell was your real voice for the rest of the Eighties?!! Fantastic!!
Her voice is unique and not similar to other female artists. I love the fact that she doesn't sing playback during her concerts. Most big names do that or they use heavy drags in order to perform perfectly. She is a true artist.

Even in an era such as the 80s when the music was absolutely brilliant, Kim Wilde was one of the very best and remains so. So so talented yet extremely modest and down to earth. An object lesson to those today with a mere fraction of Kim’s talent.
