I was just about to say that. Same than the last video in which he say he couldn't compete to lifegain, while having enchantments in hand that literally stop life gaining.
*Doesn’t kill the sculptor and loses to turn 3 Oddity- “Maybe should have killed the mana dork” *Another turn 2 sculptor, burning hands in hand- “Maybe we should kill the sculptor” Doesn’t and loses to turn 3 Chariot. Never change Seth, we love you XD
38:11 "maybe ashaya's just busted" me as someone with a fairly tuned ashaya edh: yup. definitely is. sacking creatures to constant mists, bouncing them to untap other creatures, titania making 5/3s whenever a non-token dies, stupid amounts of infinite mana combos with anything that taps to untap two lands... she's fun
When the poll for this video originally went up, I commented how I was disappointed that Waking the Trolls was winning because all the decks that use it work the same. I have to say, you proved me wrong. I did not expect a deck with Cyclone Summoner, Moritte, and Lithoform Engine. Congrats to Seth on continuing to be one of the wackiest brewers in the community.
Hey Seth deck looks sweet. I do have a suggestion to swap out Lithoform Engine for Field Trip. The only time you ended up casting Lithoform Engine you only copied a Play With Fire. I think it's just too expensive and the deck is a bit heavy on the 4's already. Field Trip coming in at 3 mana is only competing with Valakut Awakening, Bala Ged Recovery (2 late game spells, if you even wanted to cast them) and Demon Bolt. Just a suggestion the deck looks fun when it can get up to Troll mana. I think Field Trip would help with just that.
9:16 against non red opponents with the Quandrix cultivator in hand you wanna play lotus cobra on turn two, that way you can play the cultivator AND the other 2cmc mana dork on turn 3
Lol at Seth: "Guess I should've killed that sculptor of winter. Play with fire in." Two second later, draws play with fire against sculptor of winter, thinks about it, passes turn. Lemme tell ya bud, you didn't lose that game cuz you missed your land drop :p
In his defense, he was hoping to 2 for 1 based on the assumption opponent was gonna Blizzard Brawl his mana dork. His assumption was extremely wrong, and very greedy at baseline, but there was some thought in his line of play
Op playing borrowed time into Ashaya is why I have been in love with ashaya since it's release people were making that mistake alot with banishing light and so many other cards. Ashaya has been my most favorite card printed in a long while. So many things you can do with that cards it's kind of nuts.
Listened to you way back.way before face cam. See it bothering you a bit, but want you to know I appreciate the tag line! So glad you kept it and endure it! Thank you
I'm a bit conflicted here. Lithoform engine does fuel the AtO goal of massing trolls, but it doesn't seem that good nor does it seem like cutting it stops the deck from fulfilling it's goal.
Engine also copies the LD trigger on Waking the Trolls, and lets you copy your cheap removal spells (even creatures if you ramp enough), but it's undeniably greedy and doesn't help your aggro matchups
I know it's not the main point of the deck, but I think Ashaya might be my favorite right now, there are just so many fun shenanigans you can get up to.
I'm looking at the deck tech right now, I wanted to share I was trying out a version of this deck with Orvar to try and copy waking the trolls even more times... It wasn't too good though
I played two games with this (post epihany ban) I won. But it felt so bad. One game kept the opponent at 3 lands. I love the deck, but playing against randos feels mean. At least with friends we can laugh at how broken the deck FEELS when it pops off. That said the deckbuilder in me really loves this. The fact Ashaya make everything a land so cyclone summoner doesn't boince your stuff is just so sweet.
I made this deck and got to play it for midweek magic this week, really really fun. Only problem was 80 percent (not even joking) of opponents played speed red deck
Did I catch you testing this deck sometime last week? I recall catching a copy-the-Waking-Trolls deck while I was playing a Dimir Slime-Control deck, and wondered what madman would have concocted such a thing.
I play Ashaya in my Elves EDH deck. Of course, there is the obvious Quirion Ranger combo for infinite etbs and mana. But the best part about her is that soo many cards only hit "nonland" permanents! I would've never thought how many there are.
Against All Odds Idea: ramp into land destruction but you just use a Fall of the Thran alongside a Hex Parasite/Power Conduit/Chisei Heart of Oceans once you have a stable board state and watch your enemy just cry.
Funny how your videos affect the meta sometimes. I went up against this deck twice yesterday and even played against a brawl deck that had the same concept lol 😂
46:45 "There is no red fog in standard." Hmm. Seth, I'm pretty sure you didn't have to qualify standard there. The closest are Feint (but that's only damage to creatures, and only one "single combat"). There is Sunstone for colorless, but that's still not red.
@@eusouzoom One of my favorite decks in EDH is a Mono green turbo fog deck that runs just about every recursive "fog" in the game. Sunstone plus land recursion is one of the main ones. Along with Glacial Chasm. The commander is "Sasaya, Orochi Ascendant" and my favorite way to win is having glacial chasm in play and then casting a Hurricane for x=40+
He was explaining that in general if there's an Ashaya out and you cast Summoner it won't bounce your creatures but it'll bounce theirs, he was talking about it before that when he had the Ashaya out and he drew the Summoner.
@@Nightwishmaster I am basically 100% sure he knew about the ashaya + cyclone summoner and ashaya + awaken the trolls synergy... I'm focused on the bad timing to say it's a combo when nothing triggered.
I was running a similar ug list trying to build around ashaya and summoner but it was a bit too split between tempo and ramp so it didn't work as well as this more focused list. Gonna have to try this out soon.
Love this Seth! Might I recommend for budget reasons, a number next to the price budget of how many rares/mythics for the purpose of budget for arena users and their wildcards?
so is there a reason that this deck is in standard instead of alchemy? I'm not complaining, I don't mind either way, I'm just curious if there's a rhyme or reason to play one format versus another

That loss against monogreen, doubleblocking the 2/2 like you thought about would have saved you 2 life and also let you block the oddity with Lair the next turn, giving you at least 1 more turn to find an out. And then of course overlooking the nightbound side in game 3...
I'm kinda surprised that you didn't focus more heavily on land-based ramp - I wonder what your reasoning for going with Tangled Florahedron over Emergent Sequence is, for example. I'm also a little surprised that you didn't go with a Roiling Regrowth/Dire-Strain Rampage/Splendid Reclamation package for some last-minute turbo-ramp. Then again, for all I know you looked at something like that while you were building the deck and discarded it because it's unworkable in the current standard.
@@MTGGoldfish That's very fair. I kinda feel like spending land slots on other things is awkward in a deck that tries to power out as many lands as possible... but that might just be me being super greedy.
Against mono green game 3, you could have killed esikas chariot with a double block instead of chump blocking with quandrix cultivator. this even let's your florahedron live.
