I feel like people forget that taking accountability also means to move forward and grow from those things we needed to be held accountable for. Shane had a lot of bad takes and made offensive remarks. He took a step back, apologized and now he’s working on himself and his career. One day I was thinkin if Shane is on CZcams again, and here we are.
All of this bring me so much nostalgia, back in the 2016-2019 Shane was my comfort person, before all the drama and cancel culture and I even unsubscribed him because I believed that's something right to do.
I hope he's take his lesson from the past and I believe he wouldn't do and say stuff like this again. I think everybody was in the place where they we'll joke about inappropriate things but we didn't do it anymore because we all grown up and understand more, and I hope he'll do the same.

Exactly. People also forget what the late 90s to the early/early mid 2000s were like or they were too young to remember. Social media was growing and everyone was trying be famous. It all about the jokes and the shock factor. People made crude jokes about everything and everyone either not knowing it was wrong or not caring, BECAUSE IT WASN’T TAUGHT. It was obviously wrong but no one really said anything about or if they did, they might get hate but it was kind of ignored in a way.
In my opinion, I think it was until end of 2012 that things started to slowly start to be taken seriously and people who didn’t like what was being said were able to voice how wrong it was. Social media helped bring awareness and to teach that it’s not funny and we shouldn’t saying all these things. Cancel culture was born and now there is a lot more lawsuits. I’m glad Shane took accountability to his actions and acknowledge he was wrong, but I don’t think he deserved be cancelled and definitely not “permanently” cancelled according to what people are saying.

Making fun of people of color for years isn’t a “fuck up”
right especially when as an audience everyone was consuming those videos with no issue (i’m not excusing his actions at all) and present day now that these things are way more sensitive and not just looked over how it was 10 yrs ago, that should not be a Greenlight to try and end his career over something that we consumed as an audience. not even that, he knows way better than to ever make these mistakes again like I’m sure he’s grown and smart enough and mature enough to know that that’s not OK and to never do it again it’s not about who you were it’s about who you are shaping to be because everyone is still growing.

Shane’s mom is probably devastated. I don’t know if you’ve all seen but she went really deep into religion because of Shane’s childhood and the separation from his dad which left her feeling guilty. I feel she wants to advice Shane against some of the things he does but the inner guilt she feels prevents her from taking up the mom role. Shane is back meanwhile Jenna Marbles isn’t despite him being accused of far worse, that alone should give you a gauge of his unchecked narcissism.
