      It's the best. He made a statement. I'm Canadian and I'm so sorry how your country & government treated you Vietnam vets when yous returned. Yous are recognized highly for your service and are thanked.

    Its not a random delivery, he is throwin various references to the horrors of the vietnam war. Far from psychedelic noises. Hendrix was so ahead of his time

      everyone seems to miss the part right at the end, before "land of the free and the home of the brave" he plays "taps" which is the song played at the funerals of soldiers and every night on us military bases in honor of the fallen. as well as condemning the war, he payed respect to those that were forced to fight it

    Nothing will ever top his performance of this at Woodstock. With the sounds of the Vietnam war going on, his delivery was the the best ever that day!

    jimi Hendrix....my personal favorite of all the guitarists in my life... such talent and skills.He had to take his own original Style to turn his music into phenomenal sounds that had lasted for lifetimes

    Toni Iomi heard the opening riff, and wrote Iron Man - he took Hendrix’s scraps and wrote a huge hit. That’s how great Hendrix was….his scraps brought you fame and fortune

      In all seriousness, the historical context of a performance like this is very relevant. The “noise” as you put it is meant to imitate the bombs being dropped on Vietnam, followed commonly by high pitched screaming. For a better version of this check out the one from Woodstock 69.
