- Well, the #BamaRush Documentary comes out in a week & a half on MAX & here's everything I know (from someone who's in it).
Let's just say, I haven't even seen the full documentary yet & that I'm anticipating the full thing just as much as y'all are. Let's sit down & chat about how my being the "OG Bama Rush Girl" got me involved in this project.
xoxo,
Gracie

Lmao. Coming from a person that used to be a producer…that’s EXACTLY what she wanted you to believe. She talked to you, made you feel special, seen, made herself feel relatable and genuine (which she very well may be) and gained your trust to gain access to your life.
I don’t even know who this person is nor did I see her in the documentary.
I came here to see about “the machine”
I’m so excited for you Gracie can’t wait to watch it
You need to do a reaction video after watching the doc bc I’ll be interested to see what you think afterwards 😬
There may be tears followed by looking for a job.
I feel like being one of the first to bring attention to it online might not be the flex you think it is after this thing drops. 😬
I wish you luck. If I have learned anything from reading Reality Steve’s blog, when you sign on that line they now can edit you ANY way they want! I wish you the best edit.
Hi, Gracie!! Wow, this is so exciting!!!! I am so excited to watch the documentary. So happy for you.
Oh I cannot wait to watch this doco - here's hoping they stream it somewhere in Aus!
Not sure why everyone is hating this documentary? I thought it was a fair and accurate doc! I’m a lifelong resident of AL ( Mountain Brook ) and at age 61 I still enjoy the excitement of my local young girls planning to go thru rush ( at the pants store Crestline you meet lots of these sweet girls!)
I hated that fear kept so many fake accounts slamming this doc bc it was not meant to hurt or trick anyone. I liked Rachel and could tell she was kind , empathetic filmmaker . I hate ppl felt the need to attack her for her alopecia-it had lots to do w feeling “ accepted “ and I for one am pleased with this doc
I found your channel thru this doc info ( you’re adorable and likable & I wish you the best )
I also want to say the sweetest person in this doc was Mikala ! I loved her quiet sweet personality but think she’d have hated this lifestyle bc she was already her own person.
I’ve been watching you since you first rushed and I have loved seeing your channel and platforms grow over the years! I also had a fantastic Greek life experience at a southern school and can’t wait for people to see your positive energy in this documentary!! ❤
I got the opposite feeling watching the trailer and even more so when I looked up the producers of the documentary. While you are are great person and represent yourself and the University of Alabama well I wouldn't be surprised one bit to see them portray you as a rich, entitled, racist, spoiled brat. It seems like they had an agenda when making this and mislead you into believing it was to show what the rush experience is. The trailer gives the impression it's to expose everything that is wrong with the south, sororities and UofA and to try and tear it down. I hope I'm completely wrong and treat you and the other sorority members fairly but it certainly doesn't seem so.
I agree that's what i got from watching the trailer you are a beautiful and nice person i hope i'm wrong to let's face it they hate UA everybody love Auburn everybody love LSU University of Georgia is a favorite right now but Alabama has always been a top University because of Nick Saban and they just want did some dirt on it and bring racist in to it.
Totally agree. As she must have seen the trailer, I'm surprised she isn't desperately trying to distance herself from this. Instead she seems to be delighted to be part of something that will expose the toxicity of these sororites.
@@nicolabingham6639 I think it’s because her views are way down and need college/her sorority to cling too
Watch the documentary goof your wrong
@@jjjj-nh1nb goof? What are you 10! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The only “tea” in this video is that it is a desperate attempt at damage control after she saw the trailer. Hate to break this you honey but the doc isn’t about your experience and your social media career. It is about all the topics that were on your list you told the producers you weren’t comfortable talking about. And we all have a pretty good idea of what those are, especially when you tell us you weren’t comfortable with the topics given what you look like and because of your privilege.
This bubbly, upbeat video is perplexing - I honestly can’t tell if you are trying to convince yourself that this documentary is really awesome or if you are just trying to cover up the fact that you are desperately scrambling to minimize the fall out from it.
It’s cute that you think the documentary’s “overarching theme” is about women growing up. Also cute how you try to spin the tiers/ranking system here - yet in the trailer you are featured talking about how the frats rank the sororities and the hottest girls are in the top sorority.
Oh Gracie - if you think Bama Rush was stressful, just wait until May 23. Pretty sure you will no longer be telling us how “amazing” the documentary is.
How can I ❤ this comment? Spot on!
Took the words right out of my mouth.
True!
The documentary actually had some positive themes in it regarding rushing sororities. Gracie wasn’t wrong about that. You are correct, however, that there is no way to say to someone, “You need to wake up every day thinking your sorority is number one, even if the guys all think your sorority is less attractive.” Really?
Well said. Damage control.
Gracie!!!! I cannot WAIT to watch this doc! Your vlogs are so much fun and I enjoy watching them! :)
I just watched the trailer. Talk about making it seem overly dramatic 😂
Did anyone count how many times she said “OG BAMA RUSH girl”? 🤦🏻♀️
No tea was spilled! You basically tried to paint your sorority in the best light to cover up anything negative that we will see in the Doc. U of A sorority’s just starting let Black woman pledge in the last 10 years. How is being apart of something like that the best decision you’ve made in college.
DEI is a big thing for greek life currently. While actives now have no control over the racism 10+ years ago, we can confidently say that we have girls of all backgrounds and love them equally.
Best comment!
Sororities are such weird cults imo. I see white women my age or even younger wearing "Ole Miss" sweatshirts, and I'm like, "you know what that nickname actually stands for, right?" And the awful part is that OF COURSE they know, they just say crap like "it's our heritage" (yeah no kidding, racism is a HUGE part of y'all's "heritage" aka. past and present). Or they say that the logo/sweatshirt with it is "vintage"/belonged to their mom, etc, as if that makes it okay. They live in SUCH denial of their racism.
@@ImnotassweetasIusedtobe It’s one of those things that they are proud to attend that school. I don’t think it’s bad to have school spirit considering they didn’t contribute to the racism that happened. The only thing we can do is acknowledge what occurred, learn from it, and actively work to do better.
10 years ago... leave it in the past, you contribute more to racism by commenting this than she did the whole documentary.
Since you declined to comment on the injustices within greek life (especially in the south) I’ll just leave this here… “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor" - Desmond Tutu
You could have commented on your positive experience AND advocated for much needed change but you chose not to. Like many others, I also hope you follow up and acknowledge this using your platform to make sororities a safe space for ALL women ❤
The documentary was actually pretty good. The trailer made it seem SO MUCH MORE DRAMATIC than it was.
The coverage of the girls who were rushing was good. The things said by Gracie and Rian about lower tier houses - not so much.
I think anyone who knows you knows even before watching this video that you would never say anything negative about pi phi. I’m so excited to watch it!
You and Lauren are the OG Bama Rush girls! I can't wait for watch the Bama Rush Documentary!
And Madi. I remember she was who I found out from that Sororities were even a thing.
Wondering why Grace thinks she's the OG Bama girl 😮
@@AdamariMedia yes Madi is also the OG!
@@nicolabingham6639 because the people making the doc were buttering her up so she'd take part
@@al-jk2ig and you would think she was intelligent enough with her masters degree to suss that out 🤔
I feel like you didn't mention often enough that you are the OG Bama Rush girl
proud of u Gracie girl. From phi mu in tennessee- I completely understand the apprehension with filming this. Proud of u
And the anxiety about sharing secrets( intimation, anything regarding “hazing” , NEVER should we shared sacred intitian secrets with anyone. So much respected for you ❤
Ahh young people....😂 they are always such happy puppies. I watch for amusement. I feel like an old great aunt now reminiscing of when I was 22 and social media did not exist.
You are HANDS down the OG BAMA RUSH GIRLIE!!! Can't wait to watch you in the doc! 💕😊
Did you have a conversation with your sorority before you filmed??
I think everyone should reserve judgment until the full documentary is released.
Were you compensated for working on this project?
Hi Gracie happy Friday afternoon and I just wanted to say that your vlogs is amazing and you are amazing Supporter and I loved your reset vlogs because you are amazing Supporter
I saw the trailer and that you were in passing!
Did your sorority know about you filming for the doc?
I hope this documentary changes the bad things and sheds light on them. I was in one somewhere else and it was not perfect and i ended up dropping.
The constant smiling comes across so unhinged
Girl I love you but this is NOT IT... If they make you look like a privileged girl... it's because you ARE a privileged girl. This is disappointing. I hope you follow up.
I just wanted to know at what time were you able to focus on school??
She got a bachelors and masters in four years so I’m sure she was pretty focused!
@@meghanfrick622 Her time management and focus were incredible! 👏 I watched for inspiration.
Tone. Death. Privilege overload.
There will always be people with more beauty, wealth, connections, and privilege than you. GET OVER IT.
When is it coming out on HBO Max
May 23rd
That’s exciting
I can’t wait to see that documentary
I hardly watch documentaries but this occasion I would not mind watching this documentary 😊
I would be very curious on how you really feel about your sorority sisters. It wouldn’t be polite to share but I would love to know haha
She couldn't say publicly! That would breach sorority rules.
@@listay1 she breached sorority rules by taking part in this doc.
When you graduated so you can tell all the tea ☕😊
honestly, this made me unsubscribe. Ive loved your videos for the last few years but this video was somewhat tone deaf. the doc, at least from the trailer, seems to look towards exposing the recruitment system at alabama. having several friends who are now attending and some who went through recruitment there, for women of color it was a very unwelcoming, toxic environment, not anything like how you make it seem in this video because you have the privileged view. i just feel like you don't see the other perspectives and turn a blind eye, continuing to endorse the system.
Yes thank you!
Absolutely!
100% agree, unsubscribing as well
Agree!
SO what are you gonna do about it huh, you expect her to know what it's like for a colored person. She is just sharing her story not yours or your friends.
Nope you cant just say that you chose not to comment. Silence is condone the actions. Modern day racism and segregation is not ok and just closing your eyes to it and not commenting is not ok
Omg there is no such thing as modern day racism and segregation, this isn't the 1960's! Maybe do some actual research instead of following the crowd in what's popular to complain about. Or how about looking into certain colleges where there literally were black people trying to segregate white people off campus! That literally happened! Martin Luther king Jr didn't want that, he wanted us to all be together and not separated. He would have a field day with that situation occuring! So grow up and actually research what you are talking about to actually see if the information is true before spouting off nonsense.
Yeah cause its definitely racism she wasn't talking about. Grow up and stop hating on someone sharing their story
@@jjjj-nh1nb not hate baby girl,it's a reality she refuses too talk about. At the end of the day she was fine with all the injustice around her as long as it doesn't take away from from her status and privilege. If she was the 3B's (black, broke and bold about standing up to injustice) she wouldn't be happy or even part of this racist cult.
They have every right to keep their sororities predominantly white. And the D9 reserves the same right to keep the organizations predominantly black. We don’t need to integrate everything 🤷🏽♀️
“Life is what you make of it”… Come back to me when you’ve faced some sort of mental, physical, familial, social or financial adversity.
Everyone has faced some sort of adversity in their lives. Just because she doesn't broadcast everything about her life doesn't mean that she doesn't have struggles.
Envy is not a good look sis
She obviously doesn't need your approval as she's already ahead of you.
@@virginiaelder547 no this actually isn't true. There are actually alot of people who haven't faced adversity or had hardships. Yea it feels like the oppression olympics are happening the last couple years because people for some reason now just want people's pity and to have some victim status but yea there is actually alot of people that have lived an easy life.
Thank god I didn’t go to Uni in America 🇺🇸 😂😅
This documentary makes rush look shallow, superficial and sad - being judged by your appearance and having to hire a consultant to make yourself appealing enough to be accepted by “friends” that you pay for…
Isn't that what it is? I mean, I can see being young and caught up with the trend of Rush/rushing? But in the real world what sorority you were in doesn't matter. In fact, there is a mean girls stigma to sororities in general and I'm not sure it would help you get a job. It might hurt your chances in fact. To the rest of us it's an antiquated, superficial, mean girls insiders club whether it is or not. Frat boys and sorority girls are not seen as a good thing in society. Both have negative connotations and those who were in one seen as spoiled and priveleged.
@@vaskylark but a lot of businesses and people in power have Greek ties.
@@Abril-1234 I'm sure that's also true, but more don't.
@@vaskylark I'm just trying to think of one reason to put in the "pro" column 😅
@@Abril-1234 LOL I get ya
Gracie,
I am so sorry that Rachel mislead you in this narcissistic hit piece on the Sorority system at the University of Alabama. So much was brought in from outside and focused on that had absolutely Zero with the University. You are a great person who lights up the world, please don't let these people with their negative life view affect you going forward. 🌞
I am a bit disappointed that everyone was so upset on here before they even saw the actual documentary (trailers are always melodramatic) and I guess the discussion is just over. Is it that the documentary didn’t expose the University of Alabama Greek system as being racist enough? It definitely was used to discuss social stratification in Greek life in unfair ways that hurt people who are proud of their sorority and wouldn’t have these discussions on national tv.
If I have learned anything in life, redemptive things rarely occur when people get hurt this way. It would be very nice of Gracie and Rian to publicly apologize on you tube and TikTok or for them to give the people who were hurt the same voice they always have (through interviews on their channels), but things like that don’t generally happen in this life.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hey Gracie
A doc about racism and classism, it is obvious this needs to go through the sorority leaders, otherwise they can't defend themselves
"Sacred to sisterhood?" Sounds shady and sus
I genuinely think you have misread this whole situation Grace and it will be the final nail in your coffin as a social media 'influencer'. I wouldn't worry so much about people thinking you have betrayed your sisters and worry more about publically being the poster girl for white privilege 😮
first of all she said nothin about white privilege you must be black right only a black girl can say like that and get away with it.
@@jasonpounders1031 um, did you watch the video? she literally said that she recognizes how she looks and the privilege she has. SMH
Not even.
No such thing as "white privilege". So sick of you annoying woke people with your batshit crazy woke politics. Go do some actual research before following the trends of today's society and follow the crowd. Maybe you might learn something.
@@mrbonquiqui yes says with giddy joy like it's a good thing! Nothing to be proud of at all. SMH.
WTF? Doesn't anyone focus on actual academics at Bama? Is it four years of sorority? What happens when they stop looking 'cute'?
Well they get a degree... somehow...
She got a BS and MS in four years with a 4.0. I think she did okay.
The trailer looks dramatic
Hi
This attitude is exactly how the Catholic church covered up child SA.
wait you really act like this? hahahahaha
This is so privileged lol
There are people with more privilege than you. There always will be. Get over it.
I stayed silent from before the time the trailer was released until I watched the documentary. I was a bit irritated that Gracie seemed so pleased with the “fame” this documentary was bringing her, but I can see now how she might have actually believed positive things would be said, and they were said, just not by her. Unfortunately, the only thing I recall her saying is that sorority house tiers are based on a male perception of attractiveness. That is not a completely true statement, not to mention how new the sorority Rian was in is. Trying to recruit without a 40,000 square foot mansion is tough. These girls deserve apologies.
I do think attractiveness does play a role sad to say, but I think the biggest aspect of ranking is prestige, meaning who are notable alumni from the sorority that might impress PNMs. That can go hand in hand with how much money can go into a chapter. The more resources that can go into a chapter, the more they can offer members. A lot of ‘top tier’ sororities at Bama have notable and wealthier alumni.
I don’t disagree that physical appearance plays a role in things, but even if it were 100% true that looks were the main factor, it isn’t the place of someone in an upper mid tier sorority (who probably could have gotten in to a higher tier sorority than she chose), to go on tv and say that tiers are set up by frat boys based on who they consider to be the hottest girls or not. Anyone who knows which sorority she was in and is in a lower tier one will find that quite insulting. Add to that that her freshman roommate Rian gets on there and calls Sigma Kappa out as one of those sororities that will be lower tier for the next quarter of a century and it leaves a lot of girls feeling quite hurt about an organization they are quite proud of, but there most definitely are lots of reasons for the tier system.
In Sigma Kappa’s case, they are the newest chapter and getting their new house keeps getting postponed for various reasons. Grades are a HUGE factor. I don’t think Alpha Gamma Delta would take any Malibu Barbie looking girl with a low GPA. Some very attractive girls get cut from Old Row sororities for simply being not Type A/assertive enough. I won’t list those, but two come to mind. And, yes, some sororities care more about looks than others. There are definitely girls in lower tier sororities that are more conventionally attractive than some in upper tier sororities, but honestly, this is mostly about it not being Gracie’s place to state who guys think are attractive or not on national tv.
Gracie has never spelled out which houses dropped her in later rounds, but just look at Lauren Norris. She is extremely attractive and was dropped by Delta Delta Delta, Phi Mu, Chi O, Alpha Chi Omega, Kappa Kappa Gamma…all before the Sisterhood Round. What does that say about looks and even grades mattering? I totally agree that prestige is a big factor, as is what region you are from.
I also believe a lot of what Gracie said got edited out, but even if she thinks it is wrong to rank based on looks, she still seems to believe that prettier girls are in higher ranked sororities. How can people find her relatable on her channel when she says stuff like that?
you really seem to lack empathy and perspective in this vid... not a good look.
So when she was talking about sororities and their secrets, she made it sound like a cult. Just saying.
Alabama is lame!
