Gorilla Lope Vs Silverback Showdown Persists!

- Gorilla Lope vs. Silverback Dishi continue showdown at Zoo du Bassin d'Arcachon, France. Dishi displays dominance, Lope charges energetically, Aybo lingers cautiously.
Continuing with the interaction between Lope and Silverback Dishi showdown from the Zoo du Bassin d'Arcachon in France. Lope once again approaches Dishi, with Aybo cautiously lingering behind before retreating. Dishi descends a step down the ladder while Lope maintains his focus. As Lope retreats along the rear wall, Dishi follows, energetically charging up the rock, with Aybo leaping in the background. Lope proceeds past, nudging Aybo aside, before they both return to the vicinity of the silverback. Dishi, expressing his dominance, pounds his chest in the direction of the two, prompting Lope to charge once more. This time, Dishi backs down the ladder.
The silverback ascends back to the top, while both blackbacks shift their positions, Dishi appearing almost as if he's avoiding confrontation. Clearly, he's a silverback who prefers to avoid conflict. Lope positions himself in front of Dishi, who soon charges across the ledge, displaying his formidable strength in motion.
During meal or snack times, Lope graciously allows the Silverback to dine in peace, choosing instead to remain at the top.
Sadly this was the last video I had of Lope in France. Hopefully I will manage to visit him/ film him again in the future to see how things developing.

Dishi is so cute and dear! Love his sweet face. Lope will challenge him. That’s Lopes nature. Oumbi his dad is super tough (IMO) and Lope put Dad through his paces. Poor Dishi, looking at the end like he's wondering what just happened! He'll have to show a bit of that strength soon to keep Lope in check, hopefully not too much. Yes, I could see that tooth, maybe from trying to bite a certain annoying young gorilla? 😁

Dishi is an impressive silverback, and Lope is growing up fast! He looks so mature now and growing in confidence. Lope hasn’t released yet that he is punching above his weight?! 😂 hopefully Dishi will be kind when/if he retaliates... but its all part of growing up gorilla style! 😄.
Lope is just a blackback and he is already dominating a silverback in his prime. Dishi keeps backing up and letting Lope win the posturing game. Lope is going to be a force to recon with wherever he goes. He is lucky that Dishi is such a laid-back and peaceful guy. Love Lope ❤
Dishi's easy going nature seems to be playing to Lope's advantage. It'll be fascinating to see how it will continue to develop.
@GiselSimon This is not true. Silverbacks do this to most blackbacks.
Denny does it to three big silverbacks. Has them backing up and running off.
There's a lot more going on to what we understand.
These are gorillas but we always judge them as how humans would act.
Dishi is still the dominant silverback in that group

I see now why Lope had to be moved, Dishi seems to be tolerant enough but things could have gotten uglier with Oumbie.
True. Oumbi is not as forgiving as Dishi.
This is the first time I've gotten to see much of Dishi, and he is just gorgeous! He's going to have to get stern with Lope if he wants to stay in charge, Lope has years of experience butting heads with Oumbi and Ozala!

exactly, most of the posters do not realize that Lope is not kidding around, but the silverback does. Be interesting if he tries to back the silverback off of some food.
One can see Lope still has some growing to do before he is the size of Dishi.
I do not think Dishi backs off in trepidation. I think it is more of a case of showing Lope that he is not an ogre and is up for games of chase and other fun activities. I also get the feeling that Aybo is like an eager student and is enthralled by it all.
I believe Lope is going to make it his mission to wear down Dishi. Aybo appears to take things as they come, genuinely excited by his new companions.

Ich hoffe das die zwei weitere kleine Action haben und nie sich verletzen .Bei Lope und Ombi wäre das gefährlicher .Der Silverback ist ein kluger Gorilla ich und wird Lope seine Grenzen setzen. Lope ist schon immer ein willensstarke Gorilla das hat er von seinen starke Eltern. Trotzdem es würde mich freuen wenn die zwei gut auskämmen .
I hope their outdoor enclosure is nicer than this indoor one. But the three boys seem to be happy together, alternately showing off, sparring, and playing the way young male gorillas do. It can look rough to us humans, but it's how they learn to be adult gorillas, and they're far happier with companionship than they would be alone.
It's almost like it's a gorilla style of sparring and posing. Lope is nearly a Silverback. I've read most articles put down that 12 years of age is when males are technically Silverbacks or reach full maturity. Lope is practically there so Dishi might be getting him acclimated. Either way, it's so interesting to watch. Thank you for covering all of this, SV.

Thank you SV for being able to capture our Lope. I still feel upset that he is not with us anymore. I think his dad Oumbi would be very proud to see that Lope is settling in and even implementing some of his techniques. Lope even walks like Oumbi now. Lope was just being our favourite rogue and loveable clown, but he was watching and learning from the best. His father Oumbi.❤🦍🦍❤

I’m not so sure about this.. . I don’t like Dishi’s body language at ALL.. . Lope is my fav nephew. But no silverback in his prime should be retreating from a black back that young…Unless he’s abnormally big or something unusual. Have to see how this plays out. But it feels like too much of a power imbalance. Dishi needs a I toughen up and establish order. He’s likely a gentle & peaceful soul. ..& Lope is a testy rascal. I’m fascinated. But also a little concerned.

You can spot Lope and his long torso a mile away. I think when Lope becomes his full silver self , he will be the biggest and the most dominant one for sure.❤😊
@sherryw.1466 Thank you! So much has changed over the years with CZcams, unfortunately not for the better. They do make it harder and harder to be able to do what I love doing, but the thing that hasn't changed is my passion of filming all the magnificent animals is still the same and that's what keeps me going.
Lope is definitely trying his luck and knowing him he will keep going until he gets what he wants. Yep, the human similarities are definitely there 😂.
Lope just won’t back down 😢😢 I know he’s a strong gorilla 🦍 really look and his Mum she a beautiful female but has the attitude like a Silverback,, or mum don’t play.. And his Dad is no pushover himself 😮😮 I hope that Lope will stop before Dishi has to show him who’s the boss 😢😢😢
