Fishing Denver's South Platte River (Smallmouth, Walleye, and Trout)

- Today’s show is a special one in more than one way, the South Platte River is where I fell in love with Smallmouth Bass and river fishing, but I also have never caught anything aside from Smallmouth out of that specific river system. Today I was able to get on 3 different species including Walleye and Rainbow Trout. 2 species I knew were there but have not been able to get until now. Great point about waters changing, every year is so different you have to find new strategies. Action packed show, love the diversity you get out of that body of water. Nice to see an updated show of the river.

I lived in the city for almost 11 years, and never fished the Platte once. Spent a lot of hours on Quincy though. Now I'm starting to regret missing out.
Nahhh, it’s a hit or miss, I’ve been there 4 times this year and haven’t landed a single fish. That runoff has the smallies hiding

Great video! Love fishing the DSP. If you haven't fished the Platte down near breck brewery in littleton def check it out. The entire system changed this past season with the highest water in 5+ years. I had only caught one walleye previously and this year caught over 100 with the biggest taping out at 26". Still looking to land a smallmouth over 3 lbs but I know there are a few in there.
That’s awesome I’ll have to check that spot out! I’ve actually found a few good spots on the platte holding really good walleye this year. I need to go checkout a few more spots for sure !!
What part of the river were you at. I’m visiting Denver and checked out the river but couldn’t find many spots to access. Throw a fishing brotha a bone to some fish. It would be crazy cool to catch a walleye or trout. Thanks for any response. Tight lines bro💪
Normally down by confluence park is a consistent place to hit up bro, I use squarebills and ned rigs for the most part.
