  • I take you on a little tour of the tool box. After racing for a short while, you quickly realize that sometimes less is more. See the tools I use at the track, and in the garage. I'll show you the consumables I use, as well as my bolt and spare parts bin.
    Enjoy and thanks for watching

      You're welcome. Have fun. There are more tools than this, but I usually just go to the Kart shop if I need tools outside of what's in the video. Have fun with shifter! Start with a KA100 or a Rotax before you head up to shifter. It's a big jump between these 20-30hp classes and the 40-50hp shifter class!!!

      I'm working on a video about running costs with Overdrive Motorsports, but unfortunately due to our busy schedules it might be a couple months before it comes out. Roughly speaking, I budget $1000 a month for the summer, and this seems to keep me karting pretty well! Some of the guys are able to do it for much less. Stay tuned to the channel and I'll get a video made on this topic.

    Well Brent you’ve got all the nity and gritty stuff but maybe if u do or should get a spar engine that you can always just chuck on the kart if something goes wrong also have a spare axle that is very important because I have had issues with that in the past also get some spring pullers they are very helpful also I’m fo m Australia and down here karting is very very competitive and strict with at least 50 karts on track per class but good luck

    • @brentkadler2870
      @brentkadler2870  Před 4 lety

      A spare engine would be nice. Thanks for the tips. The most we get in a class is around 30ish. 50 karts would be crazy!

    Hey again, finally just bought my first kart! Kind of nervous and very excited! Do you feel the need for a torque wrench for anything? Wheels? For example Thanks! Let me know where I can send you a Tim's card!

    • @brentkadler2870
      @brentkadler2870  Před 4 lety

      Super excited you joined the sport! No you don't need a torque wrench. The only torque sensitive items are in the motor, and you'll likely want a shop to re-build your motor. Feel free to send me a line at info@kadlerracing.com Best of luck!

    • @brentkadler2870
      @brentkadler2870  Před 5 lety

      Wow! that's a lot of parts. I know that in Europe, Australia, and in some circuits in the states, people will bring backup engines, backup frames, backup fully assembled karts! At our club races, if we break something major, we use a local kart shop and they have pretty much everything in stock. It lets us fix just about anything and get back racing within a couple days. The cash is a good thing tho. need this for lodging ASN Canada FIA protests in the event you need to protest!! hah.

    Question for everyone since I’m getting into racing: what’s the difference in a Karting helmet and a regular GT style car helmet? I was going to get a regular car helmet just because I also plan to do autocross and some HPDE in the future

    • @brentkadler2870
      @brentkadler2870  Před 5 lety +1

      The ASN Canada FIA rules mandate you need a snell rated helmet. There are many different snell ratings. DOT is not good enough, so don't just get a motorcycle helmet. I use an M2015 Snell. The best are the SA2015. If you plan on racing cars at all, get the higher grade SA2015. These have a smaller visor, a yellow chin strap, and are tested to a higher standard than the others.

      Aww. I just keep a spare air filter in the tool box. The air filter oil stays at home.
