- Every surron rider is talking about the Sotion motor ... but is it worth it? Is it good for wheelies? Does it make your surron super fast?? I installed it on my Surron to find out if it's worth the hype.

It's not the "pieces", it's the possible connections, it's the windings that can burn out due to so much current. Then the plastics inside nearby (if any)

I was watching Hatfield McCoy trail videos, and this popped up in the feed..
If you took this (stock) to a trail system with your gasoline buddies, could you run all day with the ups and downs and go through creeks with it half underwater when need be? Also, how long does it take to fast charge it if it can be ?
these things are great for tight trail riding! But the stock battery might not last quite all day - but would be tons of fun for many hours. They handle water reasonably well.
Did you ever reinstall the washer or find out where it goes?

i didn’t notice any change in range personally, but i’m sure there was at least some change one way or the other
How hard is the motor install compared to the bac4000 install?? That’s the only thing holding me back from buying the motor is install difficulty.
it’s about the same difficulty! Not bad at all, just a few bolts
Stock motor is pretty good for what it is, been running it on 12-14kw for a year and it works fine.
Encoder based motors and controllers do seem like the future tho.

Hey ' I have just installed the sotion motor and I cannot do my configuration with my bac8 on the kilowatt application, my wheel is blocking. how did you do it please? 🙏🏼🙂
did you get it from GLE? You’ll need to update your firmware so that the BAC works with the motor, so try emailing the vendor of your controller and see if they can help!!

I have every upgrade on my Surron except for this motor will it drain my battery
seems like it drains a bit quicker, but that's probably because I just accelerate harder way more haha - it's worth it, you can always turn down phase amps or peak power a tiny bit to compensate, but still have a faster bike!

I'd be cool with a big okd motor so ling as I had modern battery cells capable of 240v+. I wouldnt mind a heavy battery as long as it was low and centered.
The problem comes in with vehicle laws. Too much power and it becomes a motorcycle.
Probably could but that bike would weigh like 200lbs minimum, I’m guessing you wouldn’t really get any speed or range.

it can handle tons MORE heat, so basically yes! but any motor ever made can technically overheat eventually if you push it hard enough

I wonder if the old motor having that resistance helps with regen. Have you noticed the regen change with the new motor?
since it has bigger internals, hypothetically you should be able to return more power when using regen. the resistance of stock is just mechanical drag, unfortunately, so i think it might actually hurt regen efficiency :-/
