I have been a table games dealer for 4 years. I love it. Also I work as an EMT and I love it. Sad part is I make more dealing BJ than driving an Ambulance. I work for a native american casino in the upper Midwest I love it but some nights are tough dealing with intoxicated players but that is part of the job. You still have to have a smile on your face and just deal the cards.

4:41 made me feel more confident about myself:)
I'm a slow counter and today was my 3rd day on the job at a smaller casino in Michigan. And I had a player (who was a prick) start counting out his hand out loud.
He got two 8's and he said to me "That's 16 if you didn't know" and I was counting out loud as was he.
I told him "we sound the same" and he replied "BUT I count FASTER" and in my head I thought "So we got a smartass here"
after my shift I felt like I could NEVER count as fast as the players or my co-workers.
But luckily I had a veteran co-worker tell me that it takes time to learn the 'speed' and that most of my comrades don't count they just learn the 'patterns'
Which helped me gain confidence in myself that I can do it.
    Appreciate the video

I have the payouts down and things like that, I’m good at the math, but find myself making mistakes like trying to use my right hand to pay the 2nd spot or the 1st spot, or to give them a hit. Or I’ll forget that I can’t go hand to hand with the chips. A couple times I’ve palmed the chips as well. And the main thing I feel I need is to pick up speed. I feel like I’m slower at coming out with the cards, etc. I can’t come to Vegas to train but any tips would be appreciated.

I have been a dealer for 5 years. We just recently got someone on who worked at caesars...Ok he is very stubborn with his vegas ways. If you think a school is required to work at a high end casino. You are out of your mind. Personality is not something a casino should be looking for. Personality is what a CUSTOMER looks for. I'm just very upset about the way that Vegas looks for things that they don't need. Here is what you need at bare minimum on a table. A proficient dealer. Nice. Polite. Always ready to have a conversation about anything the customer desires. Number 1 priority being that the guest has such a good time that they want to come back. A dealer who deals for the house meaning the speed is fast enough for the house to profit on its EV. Tell me anything I have not covered. I'm a supervisor with a section that always has a full game no matter what day of the week. Experience is learned in the pit. Not your silly little training room.

Q1: I am legally blind and I wanted to know if people could come and just learn how to play better at home with their friends and if you have classes to learn?
Q2: Is there a way to play other games that are not normally casino games? What I mean by this is if it was possible to play other games such as Rook, Phase 10, UNO, Go Fish, Skip-Bo, Monopoly, Sorry, Candy Land, Life, Monopoly Deal (Card Game), etc. If they were played in a casino would they have to be played differently or could the games be played the same way that the rules are stated in the game as directed at home?

It would be unethical for us to accept their money nevertheless try to teach them with the language barrier. We just recently started our relationship with Mesquite Gaming. We receive no financial benefits from any of our casino partners other than the occasional comp dinner as a thank you. Regardless of the school that your coworkers came from, everyone is strapped financially. When I worked in the casinos, I had coworkers who weren't able to finish dealer school completely because they needed to start making money asap to support themselves and their family. We try to teach them to the best of our ability, but sometimes feel they are ready to move on without finishing. At CEG, we never send a student to an audition until they are ready. Why do people have to go to dealer school? Why can't they just read books on each game, play each game as a customer, learn everything on their own about each game, then hire in and be assigned a mentor for awhile? That's what online college courses and distance learning are all about. You have to be able to read and learn without having your hand held.
