Singing with a Star -the night I sang with Just Sam in the Subway - Barbara Heller and Samantha Diaz

One super cold night in NYC in Jan of 2020 found me being walked to the subway by a guy I had just met in a Torah class. He was super cute but I heard the voice of an angel singing right in front of the train I was about to get on and I said “I want to sing with her!” He was impatient to get home which gave me the clarity that he couldn’t possibly be a match for me. How could anyone pass this woman singing just to get home to go to bed a few minutes earlier? I stood right next to her and sang with her because I couldn’t contain my excitement. She was singing prophetic lyrics about making the world a more peaceful place-totally my jam-and her voice spoke to my soul! When the song ended I had a crazy idea to ask if she’d listen to the song I had just written called “You Are Gold”. She listened to it with her whole heart and even chimed in with harmonies as she heard it for the first time! A dancer I had seen on the train several times @_bandogottagetit grabbed my phone and filmed the whole thing! I had no clue that just a few months later this angel would audition for and become a contestant for American Idol and then win the title for 2020. We are amongst the brightest of stars. Be the light, look for the light and you’ll find what you seek. I still can’t believe how gracious she was to me to allow me to sing with her.
