Karnatak or Karnatic came from the word 'Karai-natakam' where 'karai' means shore and 'natakam' means drama. The music used in these dramas was called as 'Karnatic Music'. You may have known that old dramas were full of music (lesser dialogue and more song, dialogues were expressed as songs) which you could watch in very old Tamil movies around 1960's something like Thiyagaraja Bagavadhar's. This is nothing related to Karnataka. The name Karnataka was selected by the political leaders when states were divided based on language after Independence.

FUN FACT: After the Chola dynasty took over, just as the trade routes shown at 10:35, the Tamil culture too spread to all the places the trade flowed on. And that's why all the states (Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, Kerala, Karnataka) and countries ( Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar) along the route have the same New Year as Tamilnadu on April,14 every year.

Skanda Purana is one of the purana of Sanskritam.
It contained a section called Kaumarika Kandam which discussed about the temples of South India.
4. In Ramayana and Mahabharata few shlokas were dedicated to the existence of Pandyas in South India and the foundation of ancient Dravidian language by Agastya rishi.
5. In Ramayana it is said that, the next spot after crossing Pandyan land is the sea and after crossing it comes Lanka.
6. In Mahabharata it is said that Sahadeva won a war with Pandyan king of South.
7. By considering points- 5&6, we can come to a conclusion that Pandya land was inside the Indian subcontinent..
8. Moving on to Skanda Purana, there was no mentioning of submerged island in the section of Kaumarika Kandam..
But when Skanda Purana was translated into Tamil, the concept of submerged island was included.
9. There are some references by ancient Tamil scholars that there were three Sangams and the first Sangam was held in South Madurai, but its exact location was not mentioned...
10. Now moving on to science,
The Lemurian theory was proposed before the proposal of Theory of plate tectonics.
And it is clearly mentioned in every article of the internet that by the theory of plate tectonics, the Lemurian theory is disproved, rejected and considered as a myth.
11. It is clearly mentioned in the plate tectonic theory that Indian subcontinent when getting diverged, left Madagascar alone with Africa.
12. But the moment the Lemurian theory was proposed, the topic was immediately mentioned in the Madras University and scholars of Tamil Nadu strongly argued its existence.

The Tamil film Nayagan, The Hindi film Paisa and the Bengali director Satyajit Ray's Appu were the only films included from India.

1. Thailand - thai in Tamil means mother. Literally mother land
2. Tamil civilization is much older than 2000 years - current artifact evidence claims that tamil writting script is 2600 years old and on that time the language is already in a grown state. Considering the fact that tamil language has independent origin and it stands alone without the influence of any other language. No one knows when or how the tamil language/civilization originated.
3. But we Tamils strongly beleive that tamil civilization originated in same current tamil lands(Tamil nadu and srilanka).
4. Tamil civilization can be more than 10000 years old. As per tamil sangam literatures and legends, Tamils live in this land even before srilanka became an island and seperated from Indian land(around 10000 years ago) and not only that a large portion of the land got submerged into the sea taking the lives of the people lived there. (Kumari kandan or kumari Nadu)
5. Tamil civilization and language has a unimaginable influence on global scale. Tamil have a great Influence on Greek and Latin and inturn on English. For eg - Temple in English, Templum in Latin, thenpulam in tamil. Meaning then(south) pulam(place). Since ancestory worship is one of the most important worships of Tamils, we worshipped the people died during the submerge of kumari Nadu(refer point 3) which is in South. So it is considered as a place of worship. And today became temple. Most of the words from English have its original etymological meaning hidden in tamil language.
6. There are many similarities and connection between Tamils and Mayan civilization.
7. There is a popular verse in Tamil. Tamil language is called as Amutham(sweet of divine qualities) and that language is more important than our own life. No wonder why Tamils sacrificed Thier own life in anti Hindi agitations to save the future of tamil language.
8. Tamils are not Hindus - the term Hindu is widely used during colonial period where the colonists classified the non Islam and non Christian people as Hindus. And then later the Jain's and Sikhs came out of hinduism as seperate religion.
9. Behind the label of Hinduism stands Sanatana Dharma. Which in high level seems good, but if we go deeper we can understand that all the inhuman things that exists in india such as the caste system that stands as the back bone of inequality, were created by this religion. Where the crimes of upper caste people goes unpunished and the lower caste people don't have rights to own a land or even have education. That is the whole of the point of the reservation system in India. And also patriarchy. All these are written rules in Hindu text called Manusmriti. So Sanadhana dharma has nothing to do with Tamil culture or history.
10. But Tamils do worship the (so called) hindu gods such as shiva, murugan, Ganesh and many... But not as hindu gods. But as tamil identities and tamil gods/ancestors.
11. Many Tamils who were taken as labourers to foreign lands by British, Identifies Thier religion as tamil and not Hindu. Meaning the propaganda on hinduism did not start here when they were taken from this land.
12. Tamils had Thier own way of life and that tradition influenced the whole of India and thus hinduism often mentioned as "not a religion, but a way of life"
13. Tamils history has always been suppressed by Indian rulers(from the colonists to present day rulers). For example, the history of velu nachiyar (covered in this video) is totally blacked by colonists as they did not even mention her name in Thier history books since it was a shame for the british as she was the only ruler probably in the world who defeated British and did not get caught and died of natural cause by old age. And even the Indian rulers failed to spread her fame and as a result even most of the Tamils don't know about her history.
14. Many of the Tamils like me consider the leader of LTTE, Velupillai Prabhakaran as one among the most important historical figures of Tamils such as Lord Murugan, Raja Raja Chola, Rajendra Chola, etc..
15. Thirukural written by Thiruvalluvar is the most sacred text for Tamils. It was written in world's perspective and not just from that of Tamils 2000 years ago.
