  • On the outer edge of Namdaemun Market are a row of camera shops that specialize in all things camera related. There are several other areas in Seoul that specialize in selling cameras, such as the one near Myeongdong, one in Gangnam, Techno Mart at Gangbyeon Bus Terminal and also the iPark Mall at Yongsan.
    This is a short walk around... only a few minutes long, but I wanted you to see what it was like.
    Thank you for watching, we really appreciate the support!

    This is a great place to shop for cameras and lenses. Just be aware of the warranty and know what you are looking for or you may get taken for a ride. If you speak a little Korean, it helps but most of the employees speak a little English. Enjoy!

      You're welcome! It's my stomping grounds. I've been visiting the market since 1984, and while living in Seoul, it was just a 3 minute bus ride away from my house. I commuted everyday through the market. Love that place. ^^

    Great video! But are the prices way cheaper compared to the prices of whatever country you're from? I'm planning to buy a Canon 50mm f/1.8 and the Benro Aero 2. If you know the prices, can you pls tell me? Thank you! :)

    Hi Cory, I have a few questions regarding your GoPro. Does it maintain a good charge throughout the day? What size memory card do you use? Do you have to carry backup memory cards if you film a lot in one day? Did you buy yours in the US? I do like the quality of the videos you've achieved with your GoPro. Thanks for posting!

      Cory, thanks for the great insider information. I wonder, was your GoPro cheaper to buy in Seoul? I'll be in Korea this time next month, so I need to make some quick decisions!

      Hi Cory, welcome back to your second year of school. I checked out your teacher dinner video....wow! It looks like you have a large, yet fun staff. Seems so different to start up the school year in March, especially since my staff is just now gearing up for our spring break.
      Question for you: Want to sell your GoPro so that you can upgrade? I don't need a top of the line camera, and your videos show that you take good care of your things. (It would charge for me back in the States if I use a plug adaptor, right?) Take it easy.

    Nice video! I'm planing travel to Korea in the end of this year and I'm thinking in buy a camera (DSLR, I have a Sony HX7V) there because I live in Brazil and here is very, very, VERY (in capital letters) expensive...(eg. Canon 70D in BH Photo: circa 1250 U$S; Canon 70D in Brazil: 1900 U$S in non-official stores and 2800 in official stores...and I don't wanna talk abouy accessories).
    Did you buy a camera or any camera accessories there??

    • @CoryMay81
      @CoryMay81  Před 7 lety +1

      +Cayly Robyn It's actually not a subway exit, it was the entrance to the underground shopping plaza. Closest subway station is Hoehyeon Station (Line 4), Exit 5. You'll have to walk across Namdaemun Market towards the north western edge to find the camera shops lining the perimeter.

    Great video and very helpful information. I have a family member travelling to South Korea next week July 2018. Person is curious to know would it be worthwhile in buying say a Nikon d850 with he MB-D18 battery pack and Nikon 400mm f/2.8E FL ED VR be cheaper than purchasing in say the UK, US or Euro currency areas.

    • @CoryMay81
      @CoryMay81  Před 6 lety +1

      I'm sorry, but I can't answer that question for your family member.
      For the most part, from my experience, new cameras and gear will be about the same price as in the US, UK, etc. You can find refurbished stuff in these shops as well, but it would be up to the person to maybe bargain a little. You can also sell equipment here and bargain for a good price from shop to shop and see who will offer the best deal.

    • @CoryMay81
      @CoryMay81  Před 6 lety +1

      Line 4 to Hoehyeon Station, take Exit 5 to enter Namdaemun Market.
      When you come out of Exit 5, turn right and walk all the way down through the main market street until you reach the main traffic street, then turn left. You run right into all the camera shops.

      Yes, you can find used and refurbished cameras and lenses here. I've bought used equipment and sold equipment back at these camera shops. You should check multiple prices first to compare who can sell or buy at the best price. ^^
