2024 Audi RS3 8Y First Oil Change! *Cheap DIY Maintenance*

- đ Time to do the first oil change on our brand new 2024 Audi RS3! We have about 1,800 miles on our new RS3 and I figured this would be a god time to change the oil. The 8Y generation RS3 is pretty easy to work on and the oil change takes no time at all. For under $100 I was able to change the oil in the garage in under 1 hour. A few torx bolts to remove the under tray and then an oil filter wrench to get the filter out is about all you need. This was actually the first time I have done a first oil change on a brand new car. I maintain all my cars myself, however the only other brand new car'd I've bought were my Toyota Supras. Both of those cars came with complementary maintenance. So the dealers have maintained the Supras. I notice the oil coming out of the RS3 had a green tint to it. I'd assume that was some sort of special break in additive for a brand new engine. Looks like about 7.5 quarts came out of the RS3 and I put 7.5 back in with a new oil filter. Pretty straight forwards and easy maintenance for the RS3 to keep our new car car in tip top shape.

2024 RS3 Daytona Grey over here đ€đ» Did my 1st oil change at 600 miles (based on the motor oil geek YT channel research) and immediately noticed the greenish tint on the oil. My oil also had a pinkish tone to it. I was very concerned. My first thought was "coolant leak." Luckily that was not the case. I contacted my dealership service dept. and spoke with the manager. He stated Audi does not use a specific break in oil on new engines. I used OEM VW/Audi 0W-30 oil. Then I did a 2nd oil change at 1,200 miles, no more greenish tone in the oil. I'll do a 3rd oil change at 3,000 miles and then every 5,000 miles from that point forward. These oil changes intervals on new vehicles are supposed to help the new engine's break in process. Glad I found your channel, awesome RS3 content. Subscribed.
Yeah it's got to be some additive tho or something! Lots of goodies I've been doing to the RS3. Definitely a super fun car! Was have some of the aftermarket parts on our website too! Fun car to work on ;)
Love the RS3 8Y Videos!
Glad you like them!
Glad the filter is in a reasonable place. Iâd love to pick one of these up.
Yeah one of the easiest changes I've done!
Good video
Thanks!
*NOTE* use oil with Euro Specs. Description is updated with Euro spec oil for the RS3
Make sure the engine oil is vw 504 0w-30
Just did mine on my 2023 RS3, 800 miles and one year old and it looked green just like this.
Good to know! Must be some dye or just the brand of oil they use
I still think it would be cool if a lift could help with certain duties. But that's me.
Yeah one day I'll have a lift!
I have an Audi S3 and the dealership and manual say do an oil change at either 2 years or 15,000 miles. So for you to change the oil so soon is crazy.
Actually no, the dealer is crazy for saying that. For sure you should not be going 2 years and 15k between oil changes. Great way to blow your engine. You should do an oil change every year or every 5k miles. Whatever comes first. They just want your engine to get ruined so you come back and spend money on a new car or repairs
@@BrosFOURRSpeed the modern synthetic oil lasts longer. It doesnât break down and lose its properties like old fashioned natural oil. It can last 2 years easy. The manufacturer designed the engine and canât offer misleading advice. Plus less services is actually less money for the manufacturers dealership garages. Go ahead, keep changing your oil every 3 months if it makes you feel better.
@@chasedwar2 lol I said once a year. When did I say every 3 months? But talk to any good mechanic. Once a year or every 5k miles is best for engine longevity.
Does the Mobil 1 count as a mod or improvement from the old oil? I would not want to go all 10k miles until the next one even though the bottle says it's good for 10k.
Just good normal oil.
Hey, can you do a quick video of where exactly you jack it up on the 8y and jack stand points?
I used the rear subframe bolt spot behind the rear wheels. And the lower subframe up front where a bolt is
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Are you lifting front in front of dogbone mount bushing?
@@wpzr88 I think it was the back side of the front subframe where the control are connects to it
I heard that special additives are added to the oil from factory to help with the break-in process.
Never thought this was true until I saw the greenish tint in your video.
Do you think that could be the case?
Have a MY24 RS3 as well at 1000 miles and was tempted to do an early oil change but now Iâm not sure if I should keep the factory oil in for longer
It could be that. But people also recommend early changed to clean the break in stuff out. And the break in process is 600 miles. So 2k is much past the actual break in. But I've also heard people say that Audi doesn't actually use any special break in oil. The green could just be a tint they ad to know Audi did the last change
@@BrosFOURRSpeed you have a point
Iâll go through with it as well
Thank you for the awesome vids btw
Keep it up!
@@itsyusufdawood Thanks! More coming!
@@BrosFOURRSpeedwould they really do that? and then do what with that information? 10000 miles oil is black as shaq anyway
@@Jasiel.95 No clue. Iâm just saying what Iâve heard other people way about oil in cars
I always preferred servicing my cars myself but i assume oil change done outside of the dealership would void the warranty, do you think the green stuff mixed with the original oil is what they put in there as an indicator to help them void the warranty?
I thought about that. I'm sure you could always re dye the oil worst case lol
@@BrosFOURRSpeed hahahah what do they called? Cause lve been wanting to service mine every 5,000 km but im scared im gonna get caught lol
@@zarbaftomid Theyâd have to prove that your oil change caused an issue. So up to you! Wonder if you can just buy oil from Audi
I noticed the link to the oil you used for you RS3 is not VW/Audi 504/507 certified. I would honestly remove that link since this oil should not be used for your Audi.
I would do another oil change ASAP and get it changed with the proper spec oil.
Oh yeah? I might do that. I just bought oil for the Lambo and made sure it said the VW504.
I did just notice the 3 individual quarts were actually Euro formula. But I was planning to do the next oil change in 2k miles. So I think given that, it should be good. But Iâll definitely pay attention better
When I search for my oil I donât care for all the marketing words on the bottle. As long as it say VW 504/507 you are good to go.
I say do another oil change ASAP. Itâs not a lot of money wasted to get piece of mind for your new RS3
Also not trying to be nit picky but the link for the new oil is also not correct.
That oil is VW 502/505 which is an older spec for older VW/Audis.
Our RS3 should be 504/507 spec.
I also own an 8y RS3 and this is the proper spec oil Iâll be buying when doing my first 1k oil change as well.
@@djb85 no problem! Iâll find that one! I guess I have a bit to learn. I got lucky on the S3 and did use the correct oil. But Iâm used to the GTR lol

Is this the right stuff?
I broke her in by doing full boost off the dealer lot, thinking about changing at 5k. Any specific oil brand? I used to do all Amsoil... not sure what germanian cars take.
lol just make sure it has the VW rating. Any reputable brand is fine
Ei! Nice job do you think I can also use 5w-30 instead of 0w-30?
I'd stick with what Audi recommends
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I know but where I live temperature never goes below 0 Celsius, so itâs useless to have a 0w
@@4ndrea.a Yeah I donât know much about extreme cold. Definitely talk with some Audi groups and see what others are doing
What gas do you put in premium? Iâm getting the rs3 in June
Premium. Should say in the fuel door premium only. Most new cars, especially any performance car, run on 93
What are the plans when you take it in for service with the mods?
I do all the services myself lol
@@BrosFOURRSpeed no I get that Iâm talking the free 10k service etc
@@Sewagin Your Audi dealer should be fine. It depends on if they will throw a fit about mods. Generally basic service they wonât care. But if your tuned and an issue pops up, theyâll be quick to blame the tune
Mobil advanced fuel economy oil doesnât meet euro specs
Yeah just learned that. The three individual quarts were actually euro formula. Iâll be doing the next change soon anyways so Iâll make sure all the oil is that formula. At least almost half is.
Itâs green because it was liquimolly
That's what Audi uses at the factory?
No. i forgot the question mark on my message. I was asking the question âitâs green because it was liquimolly?â
Ive since learned it was dye.
@@EC-uq8xq Oh not too sure. Iâve never used their oil before
300-400 for an oil change! And I said enoughs enough when Mazda went from 80 to 100.
When oil is as cheap as it is (especially when the car doesnât have that many miles on it) it shouldnât cost so damn much. Broke people are obviously not buying this.
Yeah I just do my own maintenance and it's always cheap. Did the oil change on my Lamborghini and it was less than $150. Can't see spending money at a shop for them to do what I can easily do
Why are you using Mobil 1 on a German carâŠ.liqui molly or motul only go in my cars
Liqui moly, motul ,reveloil, ams oil .please don't be cheap ...u welcome audi rs3
Nothing Wrong with Mobil 1. Ran that in my GTR for 5.5 years, car ran flawless. But I'll probably go Castol next time in this. Thats what I'll be tuning in the Lambo
bro the video is 11:11 lol
lol
Bought it in November. Now it is May 2024âŠ. I assume Novemeber was in 2023⊠So itâs a 2023 RS3, not a 2024 :)
Nope, itâs a 2024 model. Youâve never seen vehicle models come out the prior year? I know what I bought lol. This is a 2024 AudiâŠ
For reference Audi already has the 2025 Audi Q7 available for sale, filmed one a few weeks backâŠ
