I love how you made sure to point out only invasive species make it to the “training” tank, the minks get a tasty meal and you’re passively helping the waterways. 👍
@scracer24c That may be so but even if the PETA-whiners didn't exist, it's still nice to know. It's educational in the sense it can also teach kids that you can kill two birds with one stone and that invasive animals are harmful to the habitat and other animals.
@scracer24c Lol I feel that man. People are gonna get whiny anyways mind as well have fun with it.
@scracer24c or just people with common morals, you know not a psychopath like you
I love how the captions on this video show cuss words that he didnt actually say.

Yeah, they're pretty dumb.
Mink's are so cute, they look like a mix between otters and ferret's
Mini badger ferret's
Oh are they different? I think they are otter but in Chinese language 😅😆
They are related to ferrets 💪 👍
@THE EarthISNOTFLAT of course I did but that doesn't mean they aren't adorable as F*CK
Yeah there's a whole bunch of mammals that share this same basic shape. It's essentially the "basic mammal" , a great generalist.
can we talk about how chill those fish are? they're acting like they aren't watching their companions die.
when faced with death they're just like...sure
you cant kill what is already dead (inside)
lmao there's not many places for them to go
Master poker faces. Don't ever play cards with them.
They probably aren't used to the new water
That's why fish keepers acclimatize their new fish
Oh please. Can you please let your heart bleed somewhere else.
Waters property inexpensively, removes invasive fish species from environment, provides a meal, enrichment, while teaching the mink how to fish. Win, Win, Win, Win, Win
Thanks for sharing Joe. Cheers
And provides infotainment to lazy hoo-mans as well :-)
Mink man is the best environmentalist. Doesn't use poison, raises difficult rather rare species and utilizes them to suppress pesty pests. Get's down votes from animal "lovers" who think his methods are cruel.
I swear this dude is miles ahead of the rest of us plebes
Well I try not to think about the parasites the fishes have but I hope it’s not bad for them to eat a lot
@@johnknoefler im a animal lover and i think this guy is great. in fact i think he should be training groups to work with minks to kill rodents on dairy farms where its not a good idea to use poisons that could end up in our food . this guy could make a mint franchising his idea

They are such cuties
They remind me of a slightly smaller version of an otter. Almost like a ferret and an otter mixed together
*Water Slinky’s
No!
@Citrus Gaming no they minks
I'm very grateful and love how you gently but firmly tell your children how to treat minks. I can't tell you how many times I've seen kids abusing wildlife with their parents just chatting away.
Time to feed little kids to bears
Imagine he sees a bear charging at him and he makes that sound and about a 100 minks come running and attack that bear
The scary part is... adult mink can take down an animal 3 times their size. That's ONE mink, a group of them can and have taken down large animals by biting at their eyes and vital points. They're more dangerous than most things in the wild. Due to their small size and high bite strength, larger predators have trouble stopping them in time. Thankfully they don't like hunting together much, or they'd be few things they couldn't kill.
@@ZakTheFallen Everything in the weasel family is a little psycho. Fear isn't in them.
imagine a bear sized mink
@@grrmonkey They exist..... its called a Wolverine. its the largest animal from the weasel family if i'm not mistaken. They'll CAN kill a bear or a lion by THEMSELVES if they had too. Their claws are 1 FOOT long.....
Now that would be something
The fish are getting ptsd from this
"I was there when it happened man! We didn't see it coming... they came from above like ravenous pitch black snakes, one after the other, picking us off one by one. We tried to escape but... there was this invisible force holding us- and even worse... I could see these strange giant creatures looming over us, watching. I tried to yell for help, but they didn't listen, or maybe they couldn't understand- they just stood there, pointing and talking among themselves. For a moment I thought I was in hell... But I knew better. The walls are closing in! I can't breathe! There's nowhere to run or hide!"
Eyy a writer !
ugh you missed the opportunity to say " I tried to scream, but head was under water"🤣
honestly after reading this, i kinda feel bad for the fish,
You get a thumbs up for creativity. Kept me in suspense.

Hahaha
I can't get over how cute and smart they are! They remind me so much of ferrets when they start running. Too adorable!
I like this guy, he doesn't try to just cage and feed his animals. He actually treats them with respect and relative luxury.

Olive: "Can I holdy the fishies?"
Jospeh:"Alright then - dive in and catch some fishies!" Troll Dad! LMAO!
Hahaha
love how entertaining it is to watch these minks also like how the fish are pest type so wildlife isnt put in danger just for our entertainment
I woulnd't call these type of fish "pest" just because there are many of them out there.
They are simply over populated, thus is why it isn't dangerous for the environment if few of them are killed.
@@JDarkAngeI I mean he stated theyre invasive so they populate quick and take resources from the native fish. Which then causes disturbances in the local environment cause the native fish havent mutated/evolved to deal with such an issue. Thats my thoughts on it though :]
JDarkAngeI
If that take any kind of resource and are overpopulated, then they would still be considered a pest. They’re taking more than what a healthy population of anything would typically take. Even if they weren’t invasive (which means there are even more mouths to feed from the same set of resources the native species use), they’d still be pests as consuming resources or destroying the ecological system would be that kind of behavior.
I can’t say for sure what the technical definition of “pest” is biology and the like, I’d have to look that up, but I would still personally consider that pest behavior. (Edit: I mean them still being a pest if they WERE native due to the large overpopulation). Since they aren’t native and are overpopulated invaders, I can think of few situations that would be better considered pest situations than something like this, honestly.
@@JDarkAngeI What else would you call a none native animal, that is overpopulated, and harming the environment? I believe that is the very definition of the word "pest".
JDarkAngeI No, definitely pests. Not native and capable of breeding and surviving in a non-native environment at all? Pests. Carp have been a plague for years in the US and Canada.
When he clicks his tongue you just see a hoard of cuteness running for nom noms

Nonya Bizznu ill be down in the next life
Nonya Bizznu hell yea if reincarnation is real I want to be on the roster for that
So Mink are in the same family as ferrets, but they aren’t social like ferrets are. Intresting.
Ferrets are a domesticated animal and are very different from their wild ancestor the polecat.
@@JosephCartertheMinkMan Sorry I'm a complete layman. So whats the difference between a mink and a ferret? Both are banned where I live (QLD, Australia) just because of bio laws to protect native animals. Seem like such awesome animals though!
Just like how although lions and tigers are both panthera, but tigers are way more antisocial than lions I suppose
@Jakjak coyotes are highly social. the ones here trap/kill domestic pets by having one female play lame while the rest of the pack waits in
ambush
@@goodshipkaraboudjan
There are two completely different species referred to as "minks".
Mustela lutreola, the European mink.
Neovison vison, the American mink.
Mustela putorius, the European polecat, is to ferrets (Mustela putorius furo), as wolves are to dogs. Polecats (ferrets) and European Minks are closely related enough to hybridize, but not the American mink, its closet relative actually being the Siberian Weasel, Mustela sibirica.
I love how respectful you are with all animals. You never try to change what they are.... instead you respect them for what they are. Thank you.
I love how your furry partners are able to move around freely instead of keeping them in cages
You seem like a good master and a good dad! You are for sure a great youtuber! Keep up!
Am watching these with my Ferret and his little eyes are just glued to the monitor
Don’t let the glue dry
Cute!
This man had mastered steve Irwin's techniques of entertainment and applied it to minks.
It’s fascinating to see how similar to otters minks really are when seeing them fishing like this
Earlier in the day - "this is the worst day ever, I got stuck in the ditch going thru the canal", said the fish, little did it know then
That one with the Green collar is a real dragster. He/she? Waits at the edge until it spots the one it wants, then when the time is right for a quick intercept, dives in and catches it without having to swim around after a random fish.
That's one to keep an eye on as I suspect it will be a great hunter/fisher.
Sorry, there is no way I can remember all of the names, or even which litter they came from. I know you have them color coded Joe, but just seeing them occasionally on a video, I can't keep up.
Impressive observation!
"¿Cómo que yay?" 🤣 So you learned Spanish from your wife! That's awesome!
zoologist should contact this guy and do some research with him..
he's doing some behavior science experiment right here 🧐
So long as there's enough food, the mink may be willing to tolerate living with other individuals, like how tigers in captivity can share an enclosure fairly peacefully. Siblings would likely be easier to keep together, as instinctively they would know that the survival of their siblings would increase the presence of their genes in the population.
The mink and the little ones are all growing so fast!!!
lol even fearless mink are like "oh crap the kids are out. RUN"
this guy might be one of the most knowlegable experts on mink in the world . his every day interaction with this wonderful animals has to put him in the lead of research .
That sheep that just rocked up to the party. You have a menagerie, haha.
And that 5 month old mink was entertaining the idea of ripping it to pieces!
The sheep recognized the behavior as a threat and beat a hasty retreat!
I bet if you brought out Mamba that tank would be empty really fast!
Wow... They look like they are having so much fun it almost makes you want to be a mink. What an awesome experience. Thank you for sharing it.
I really appreciate the information about mink nature, habbit and behaviors. Not only fun to watch them leaning to fish, but, also educational.👍
Maybe, you could breed the more social minks, to form hunting packs. The J. Carter mink line.
That be cool, but it would be hard.
I think.
That might be a good idea but you might breed other traits into them that make them less aggressive and therefore they probably won't be as good hunters for rats and such.
JazzOfTheStinson I mean, consider terrier dogs. They’re more aggressive with rats, but less with humans. It’s a thing, it just takes many years and many breeders to accomplish.
For the silver fox project it took 40 generations of breeding from foxes to start looking like dogs. If you have a big enough pool to choose from, finding Mink that hunt well and socially wouldn't be too out there.
The Mink man is just the guy to be willing to put in the work.
But breeding social hunting mink combinations is something he probably can only start, because of:
- the number of generations required to do it; and
- the years it would take to determine who the best and most cooperative hunters were.
But we have the best man on the job for it!
I hope one of his kids catches the mink fever and becomes his apprentice to carry on his work.
PS - Strange that I find myself contemplating the future of this fellow's kids 20-30 years down the line. I never concerned myself with that on any other entertainment media productions before o.0
Good to see that the DNR is positive to your natural invasive fish trapping. Also good for you - and for the mink.
Great idea of keeping the waterways purged down of the invasive population. Your mink would be bloated from all the abandoned pet goldfish in that Colorado reservoir that have completely taken over - eating all the vegetation and all the smaller fish.
"dive in there and catch a fishy"
Joseph trains his kids like he trains the minks xD
Baby Mink,and Baby girls,oh so sweet-Too stinken cute!😍
Fish must be very scared to look out the window and see the herd!!
It's the same reaction the fish in the aquarium had when they saw Mr. Creosote waddling in the restaurant. [Monry Python's Meaning of Life]
Pretty sure they do not care.
Funny story, we had a terrarium with mice in it and our Maine Coon cat loved sitting in front of it, poking at the mice through the glass. The mice however didn't give a damn about it while in their tunnels. No reaction whatsoever. Pretty sure they just couldn't comprehend something getting to them while underground, even though they could clearly see the predator. It's likely the same for those fish.
The pied piper of mink. They’re all so cute.
Your children are so beautiful so lucky to have you for a father...
So cute seeing them all run over to the whistle, not to mention Olive and her sister have the best place to grow up.

It’s so beautiful do see this little buggers deftly chasing the fishes in the tank
It was so entertaining and educational to watch this bunch of young minks running around and fishing. They are certainly beautiful little critters!
Mink sound a lot like what cats were domesticated from. I think with selective breeding you could do something similar to the Russian Fox experiment.
I was surprised you called them and they came immediately, I thought they would catch the larger fish first but they just caught the first fish they could. I know next to nothing about mink! Love your videos!
i love when he call all of it and it all come ❤️💯
It's absolutely fascinating to watch one of them grab a fish and then figure out the best way to evade the other mink. Some are much better at evading
