Love the vlog! I’m excited to hear about the players you’ve highlighted from Tottenham. Like you, I believe the connection with Chris Davis is crucial. The loan club always aims for the player to progress in their development while gaining match experience, and hopefully, that will be with us. However, we need to maintain a balanced perspective. We have some emerging talents from our own ranks at the Under-18 and Under-21 levels. These players are potential long-term assets for the club, but they need a platform to showcase their personal talents. KRO

I think we will see a balance of both worlds this year. We will see a few loans come in just to have some strength in numbers and possibly some energy late in games but I hope he will also give some of our exciting young talent a run out as well. I think George Hall and Romelle Donovan are 2 in particular for me who could set League 1 on fire if he uses them right.

A deep squad is no bad thing in a long, successful season. Davies may be planning to substitute only front players late in a game where we need a goal rather than sacrifice midfielders, which is a good tactic. These Spurs loanees will be used to high training standards and will show the current youth team some good habits. It isn't much of a gamble if Davies knows them well.

Yeah, I think CD will have his team this summer and will continue to buy all the way up until the last day. The moves we have made already are excellent and I only see CD using the loanee's like you mentioned to come off the bench for a late goal or a burst of energy.
We also have some exciting young talent ourselves this year which I think will be exciting like Romelle Donovan etc. I am sure CD will strike the balance right and get a really competitive squad for next season :)

Dorrington is a very good centre back and i think Davies might be the coach Spurs trust to carry on the development of Mikey Moore who is at this stage of his career nothing short of sensational. Thoigh Ange might want to keep him under his wing at the moment. Good luck for the season always had a soft spot for the Blues though a Tottenham fan.

We need to be careful that whoever we bring in doesn't step on the toes of young talent that we already have, the likes of Donavan, Home, Dixon, Chang and even Hall - absolute priorities for me are a striker to complement May and a solid, commanding CB or two
I'm sure CD will be on the case, assessing the resource available to him, but we need quick decisions so whoever new comes in can adapt to the team patterns

Yeah, this is a really valid point which is shared by most fans at the moment. We have a lot of young players that will be looking for game time and exciting talent that we want to nurture with Hall, Donovan etc.
I would like to see the loans utilised to add a bit more depth and strength in numbers. I'm sure CD will strike the right balance.

Others have commented similar. I think for the first time in a while we are able to use loans like they should be used. Add some depth to weaker spots especially in case of injury, suspension or fatigue etc.
Gone are the days are relying on loans to fill the squad in key positions because we are actually building a squad this season which is great to see.

Soonsup-Bell played as a RW last season for Spurs under 21s Donnelly played as a CAM for the under 21s… so their stats are from those positions not playing as strikers. Donnelly has great passing and penalty prowess as well as goals he has similarities to Kane in how he plays. Abbot is a versatile midfielder and defender who is a leader and can keep the game moving in midfield and can pass between the lines from deep. Spurs have a ton of young talent that would benefit from league 1 or championship experience and I think Birmingham would be great for them for Davies.
Alfie Dorrington is a ball playing defender who would be excellent as well. Tyreece Hall is a CDM that is really fantastic he has good passing range and is excellent with his reading of the game and late runs into the box but he might stay with the first team this year, but he would also be a great addition.

I must admit I came across most of those players during my research however, for the purposes of the video and the fact that we try to limit our podcasts to a maximum of 20 minutes, I decided to pick six to focus on.
I'm sure that any Tottenham player that Chris Davies does target on loan will be a good fit for Birmingham City as he knows the Tottenham players as well as anyone. KRO and kind regards (Gary)

In Chris Davies, I trust. This is his first number 1 job, and he strikes me as the sort of man who knows his stuff and knows what he needs and wants to be successful.
Whoever he lets go or brings in be that permanently or in on loan then I have no doubts they will give their all to the club and cause.
Players coming in on loan is a mutually beneficial arrangement when it's the right type of player for the right type of reasons.
The Jay Stansfield blueprint is the one that any loan player just needs to look at. Burke they need to look at for very different reasons.
You both make some brilliant points and you're attention to detail is really impressive. Your research for your discussions is really impressive and very professional.
The loan market is vital for a club like ours in League One when we get promoted to the Championship (hopefully at the first time of asking) and so it's important that we use this well and I think the club will. Healthy competition for places. I think we just need to get the balance right of loan players, senior heads and not blocking our own youth coming through and getting their chance and opportunity and I trust that the club will take all this into consideration.
The fact that we will be able to utilise the loan market and make the most of Chris Davies's contacts is a very attractive football and business relationship and Spurs will benefit from their young players being well looked after and we will get players hungry to make their mark in the world of first team football.

Blues have made good use of the loan market in the past and this was a necessity in the barren years of no money to spend, selling players and general cut backs. I have to say we have had some real gems on loan over the years so the loan market has been kind to us.
It would be silly not to make use of Chris Davies contacts and the fact that his last club was Tottenham, a top Premier League club means that there is a potential for some high quality loans to supplement the permanent signings and to give the squad some strength in depth.
I trust in Chris Davies judgement as he will know the Tottenham player better than anyone. If we can uncover another Jay Stansfield type loan, then as you saw we will be onto a real winner! KRO and kind regards (Gary)

There are some really interesting comments that have been made by Chris Davies at a fans forum that he was a surprise guest at with regards to his views and opinions on loan players and bringing in players on loan from anywhere let alone Spurs.
I get the distinct impression that he would much rather bring in permanent signings.
So if we do have any loan players come in, we can trust that they will give their all to Blues, because if they're not prepared to do that then they won't play for Blues under Chris Davies. Permanent or loan he only wants players that want to play for the club and that can meet the demands and expectations of the manager.

Do we really want loans? As a club we have relied on loans for way too long. We need to buy player who are here for the journey not a season. IMO we rely too much on loans and then find ourselves in the same position year on year. Short of players. KRO gents

I personally think exploiting the loan is a clever way to add depth to weak positions around to team so I am for them. I think what's important as you rightly mentioned is that we stop getting in loan players who we rely on so much that we struggle to fill the gap when they've gone. I think this year is slightly different from previous years as the owners have some money to spend so I see us actually building a squad this summer not just being as good as the loans we can get in like the past 5+ years.
An additional supplementary loan or 2 could be great but let's see what CD wants to do and who he decides to bring in :)

Good point well made Matt. Still I dont like loans myself as they use the club as a stepping stone. The only two loans I’ve enjoyed in recent years were Hannibal and Stansfield. I feel these two lads got the club and produced performances to say thank you. Then you have the burkes of this world ( No pun intended haha ) Great video as always KRO

I know people will moan about loans etc but I think it’s a good idea to get a few in, it’s hard to get good players to drop to league one and loaning them can always turn to a permanent signing if we get promoted

Look at Hutchinson at Ipswich, players you couldn't dream of signing become permanent fixtures if you offer success.

Hutchinson is a great player. I remember when he came on when we were at Portman road and was amazing. They became a lot more dangerous on that right wing.

I’d hope we don’t have more than 2-3 loan signings, otherwise it prevents genuine team development for the next season. It’s imperative we only appoint quality - Eg, Stansfield, Hannibal were great acquisitions, whereas Aiwu, Burke were dreadful. KRO 👍

Yeah, most fans seem to agree that it's all about developing a team and not relying solely on loans for our squad this season like it has been for the past 5+ years.
Thankfully it looks like we are going down that path and the loans will only be supplementary to the positions we will fill this summer.

I'm interested to see what we do in the central defence area. I was a bit sad when Kevin Long went to the MLS last year and thought he might have been good if he was still around. But I have been watching the MLS highlights recently, and he has been pretty poor.

I really liked Kevin Long as well. I was gutted when he went but he clearly was very unsettled under Rooney's tenure. He made him a lot stronger at the back, especially in aerial battles.
Agree this is a big position to fill. Intrigued to see what other CB's we get through the door this summer.

We need to be careful with loanees often recruited with guarantees of playing. We need to look after our own youngsters like Rommel

Really valid point. I think most fans are in agreement that we shouldn't be utilising loans like we previously did and only use them to possibly add depth to certain positions or where we are particularly vulnerable.
The fact the only glimmer of light last season was a loan player shows how poor our recruitment up front has been the past few years.
