"Its just another number, but it's a big one. I figured I'd eventually get there, but as hard as they've gotten, I didn't know when." - Richard Petty on his 200th win
I feel like some people forgot that this race was a very important day in NASCAR history... Everything was absolutely picture perfect
Ik hamlin was a toddler when this happened and Toyota wasnt dominating 😌 jk jk
Everything was so perfect. The US President was in attendance, they were at Daytona, and it was a wild finish.
Yeah. If only that would have happened in 2001 as well as one of Nascar's greats not dying in that race and the 2020 version didn't have an incompetent leader
Happy 83rd Birthday King Richard I 🎂🎂
Moments like this in the sport's history are why I don't want to see politics completely banned from NASCAR. It's always an incredible sight to see a sitting President at a NASCAR race.
When I got to see Trump at Daytona this year for the 500 it was surreal. It was the first time that anyone in my family had been within 100 feet of a sitting U.S. President.
Josh Compton well i mean bill clinton never attended a race so i guess ur right
@@TheIceberg I was there as well. His appearance didn't have the same effect on me to say the least... lol I'll respect him when he respects the office, minorities, women, and anyone else not in his targeted demographic.
You just wait..one day we’re all gonna be celebrating Chris Fontaine’s 300th win
Who is this guy Chris Fontaine I watch every NASCAR race and haven’t ever seen you
Kansas football Lifer allow me to introduce myself. Chris Fontaine, driver of the number 47 in the truck series. My trucks are broken so I haven’t been able to compete lately, and it’s all thanks to rich kids Justin Haley and Tyler Dippel!!!
It was a perfect 200th win
Reagan eating KFC with a bunch of NASCAR drivers is such a mood

You should do a video revisiting cup drivers driving full time in the xfinity series in the 2000s
happy 83rd birthday to Richard Petty!
Why does Ronald Reagan sound like a golf announcer... or an asmr person... lol
He said in the post-race interview standing with Petty that he was a sports broadcaster at one time
Great video, though there were a couple of minor things I noticed.
1. There were (and are still) 538 electoral votes combined instead of 539
2. Not sure if this was left off because the incumbent President lost; but in 1992 Richard Petty's final (by that time) Pepsi 400 saw Reagan's Vice-President and successor George H.W. Bush deliver the starting command (if Bush 41 and/or Petty were hoping history would repeat, they would be disappointed {Petty led the first 5 laps before falling back and ultimately dropping out due to heat exhaustion; Bush ended up losing his bid for re-election to Bill Clinton)
These revisited videos are my favorite Iceberg content, hope we see them more often!
Seeing Petty’s car with Air Force 1 landing in the background on the day of Petty’s 200th win on arguably the most iconic nascar track almost seems biblical
It was her that was really good race partner feel like people forgot about this race Richard Petty's 200
From the first win to the 200th we all knew that Petty was the king of this sport
Ha good pun @ 2:29 unpresidented
I'm excited for jimmays final win
(And yes I think he will win in 2020)
Hopefully this weekend! The King is also a 7 time champion and he got his last win in the 4th of July weekend, that would be perfect
Not a Jimmie fan, but man I hope he has enough in the tank to pass Waltrip and Allison on that board.
Honestly, this could've been fixed. Having Petty win his 200th while Reagan was there?
I was at this race. It was amazing RIP: Cale.
Jimmy Carter actually frequented races in Atlanta and flew the starting green flag at the 1976 Atlanta race. I believe I remember reading he actually used to work at the track when he was younger
Man, Reagan was cool!
Great subjects recently. Not surprised but enjoying the vids.
One of the most historic races in NASCAR History. You had the president of the United States attend the race, landing at the airport while the car’s are zooming past him, two of the top drivers in NASCAR at that time in Richard Petty and Cale Yarborough battle it out for the win on July 4th weekend at the most historic track in NASCAR at Daytona. Nothing will ever top this race.
Happy Birthday to the 👑!
Undoubtably the best and most talented driver to live
awesome vid!
Richard will always be my all time favorite driver.
Who would've thought that this would be Richard's last win ever, until he retired in 1992. But in all seriousness, the highlight of this race was definitely the picture of Air Force One landing at Daytona beach international Airport with Richard Petty racing on the track.
Jimmie Johnson was 10 whenever this happened. Let that sink in.
great video !
great video liked 👍🏎🏆
Nice! Love patriotic NASCAR moments!!
Happy Birthday King Richard Petty
Anyone else notice the instrumental in the background is Johnny Cash's the man comes around?
Same here! One of the coolest religious songs ever in my opinion!

It's a delicate balancing act with having a President attending the races in terms of keeping politics out of the sport. Reagan, for example, used the 1984 Firecracker 400 to canvas before the election that November. It will be interesting to see if Joe Biden gets invited to any NASCAR races as he is (to use a term from my country) a petrol head, he loves cars in other words (he has a big collection of cars and bikes at his home in Delaware) and I can imagine how excited he would be from a human perspective to watch the races in person
there is a track about 5 or 10 miles away from me Smoky mountain Speedway Richard Petty got one of his 200 wins there
It would be interesting to see him from around this time competing against current JJ in identical cars
When the man comes around.
Typo in the description: Richard Petty’s historic 200th win can on the Fourth of July in 1984. | Can to Came, I believe!
Footage is so clear
Trump was at the 2001 500 too
NICE
Richard Petty is The King of Nascar
Nice
Happy 83rd birthday Richard
President Trump is also a race fan. He didn't just show up at Daytona for political reasons, he's been to the Daytona 500 several times including 2001. It's so weird to think that President Trump was there when Dale Earnhardt had his accident
Happy 83rd birthday King Richard!
lets go
Commentators: Jim Lampley and Sam Posey
I can’t believe Richard Petty and Kyle Busch are the only drivers in NASCAR to have 200 Wins.
We need more presidents at the races because I didnt see him but it seems cool and it was really cool to see Trump ride around the track.
Not only was his engine big, didnt he have left side tires all the way round
Listen to the song “oh king Richard”
4:42 Slide job
And yet people think Kyle is just like Petty since he has 200 wins in NASCAR. Richard Petty won all 200 in the cup series. Kyle has won half of those 200 in the trucks against guys standing no chance with little money and sponsorship. Only 55 in cup is nothing compared to Richard Petty
FIREBALL Games 09 trucks and xfintiy didn’t exist for petty and the competition is better now
Richard petty’s wins we’re mostly against people with no money too though
Travis Pastrana would have stopped at 199.
Didn’t a car flip that’s what caused the caution or am I remembering it wrong
I always pulled for richard, but my favorite was kyle petty and always will be.he be the one in the hall of fame and not dale jr, just look at all kyle has done charity wise for nascar now.plus he's a really smart guy.to bad for his son Adams death,I would have loved to see just how good he might have been at rpm.he might have been able to pull his grandfathers team Richard petty to the top of nascar's elite teams by now and 3 or 4 championships by now but we will never no now well its sad!!!!!
Richard Petty = Peter Brock = Alain Prost = AJ Foyt
People need to stop saying that Richard Petty sucks compared to the drivers now days but back then tough competition had a different meaning and he his the only NASCAR driver to win 200 races and no Kyle Busch does not count
I think we have another driver who can get another 200 wins
Ronald Reagan attending the Daytona is like trump attending Daytona... whoops that really happen!!!
LOL @ Reagan saying in a folksy way that he used Petty as a political prop.
Do Rusty Wallace or Tony Stewart
And 7 500s
When people complain about politicians go into sports i'm like yeah but you complain when they don't go either
I wish i was alive when richard petty was still racing, those seemed like fun times
Richard Never Won a Race for The Next 8 Years
If I think sports and games should stay out of politics then I believe NASCAR should stay out of politics. I can't pick and choose when it suits my agenda.
Prediction- Jimmie Johnson will win 2 races this year and make it to the round of 12
I don’t view Petty’s 198th as legitimate as he had much larger engine then was allowed
He won 198 races Dover and the other one where some bullshit idc who you are you should be favorited or have rules changed for you
A legend tarnished by the hack that's driving around in the #43 these days.
Another rigged race.
It wasn't rigged. Petty was good at Daytona for his entire career, and it just happened to be that Doug Heveron spun and flipped just at the right time.
Interesting background music @theiceberg
Fun fact he was actually driving for Curb Motorsports that year instead of his family's team
Ya. I figured that out not to long ago. If you didn't know when he started. He started in 1958
